; X8 B  R9 {, [7 \
8 y5 h6 s! N; T" d9 o        1. I couldn't care less.
2 M) ]- U: v6 {: g2 \2 T+ |( P$ M+ R3 Z' @* h# c
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
4 X4 B$ e& G( l& r8 t# t8 Q
" D  o! J6 Y9 t5 D/ q 人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) + p3 W. ]; D1 ^

1 }" e# w9 p( n; N) n" l: E 你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 7 P7 F3 b4 \; s

! z+ Z5 M8 Z$ j+ k* M; b- o How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) , N+ T2 q( ~4 q  S' D1 x! k3 n
3 p( A1 G& M' {' ~3 h0 y* X- ?
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) * e5 r9 h9 |+ k7 M: ?

+ S- I& e' T& d+ Q1 t I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
3 \" ^/ W/ L) A% X2 S2 y
' f4 e2 I0 j  D+ q7 U; g0 H' { 而实际上他是根本在乎升级和加薪的,那么人家也许就会回答说: Yes, you do(care). 4 p, |( V8 v7 F1 ^' j

" }& y$ t: X: t 至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
+ t2 W- ]. f# p: y9 f- H
3 `9 H# b: l+ W' d I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
  J9 G7 Y8 D1 s2 U- q* ?- D1 t3 K- R- l, _
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) . S5 r/ I) [6 J5 \! C- ^. O2 i/ d

0 k9 s5 v+ _( B7 p- W) R! P I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. * {8 e& U; X3 x2 N2 X# a( u% W
! u2 W0 S: J: N1 `. q# ?1 a
6 C6 p4 k& |0 ?! i& R. p
  I couldn't be more wrong. ) L, f% a. a2 h0 E/ u
, @, h0 C$ _8 M/ V9 F. Z* C
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) / B3 |4 s8 O) F) f- a
4 R7 `) [3 W0 q& P, a$ P
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
& d; Y" J6 q* w5 j5 Z
) R6 {2 l# w# @ 2. No bones about it. $ z. u' Z% K# y6 A0 i5 j

6 ?% D- R# s: c: _ 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
+ b8 S% C$ z, {9 o( U
. c7 y# d* e0 h# E- Y- [- K' I5 M His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) ' M5 s0 |1 M. K* Z$ K6 Q. j1 y
$ C1 |7 K( `0 F
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) : t" Z* L* T3 @' ^( {# W
+ b  p) f; J# B5 @2 y9 f3 k
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) - x  X/ W" H% D- G* U' D- X

3 T' S  b; g1 \8 s/ A. q. X' ?) f No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
( o+ H& _' b7 t0 m; ]/ ~) l4 a- `( a/ `  G1 ~1 R9 i5 G8 k
  3. take it on me!
4 Z. M3 b& V9 g  g; Y6 P0 ]1 E) E! k3 X
意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
7 y$ d1 ~8 `9 p. x' d: s5 C2 J8 o
# |1 |* u! s5 Y6 x: v Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
' K( `- l. }+ X
) g4 D1 w6 T% E9 X The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
; X! H* }1 m! W& \6 \3 @8 Y0 B$ D) R5 z* ^' q1 s% n
Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
4 [5 W3 L7 }: I% a# v5 P) D1 w0 `5 s8 T
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
- O! H$ H$ o4 S! t+ B. E8 f8 Z$ c7 E/ U
  4. I am from Missouri. ; @$ k" B0 g5 q
/ t2 T( W* S7 M  e* x: O- m
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 + N3 D* @1 C4 h
* i% R( x5 Z$ X. C

( n6 t& S! q8 Q He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. * \" N. E* i4 I( M. w7 S* t" a$ @
# o( L6 H+ |6 V* }( s
Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
3 Y0 T# Y; C. s1 l9 N  s
# T- c* B2 S( w1 K4 P) @' t- h We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. 7 W+ f  l/ l* E0 C

! M1 ~/ [, z5 P$ l5 ]- x% g2 u As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
