w5 a" _# \4 l8 A
( F  u- @+ ]: a) ?! k) c+ S3 M( a9 P
        1. I couldn't care less. - B7 h7 |0 v( d* Z2 Q
  o% M- x9 z- P% m" O# E
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: : f4 }6 P4 {- p( ^" F9 n" R
8 v' U3 x) w* U* e8 a  a
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 4 {& @: C2 W2 w# r
! |) L0 `) h8 _4 N3 w) p( d& C, G, a2 F( ~
3 n$ f& p2 z" Q5 {6 B. g4 B3 n3 F! N9 C( P1 ]# V/ h, j( {
How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
! A; e$ K: Q! a0 H% ]
2 ^9 ~, h1 |) l. z# v, _. m0 ?7 Z* [  z I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
. V. K/ O6 h! j6 N; K# p$ C# D  {5 I7 j8 J5 Z  ~
/ g; E' B4 d9 w5 T3 h8 Q
, _$ S& d$ b1 I I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) ( v) Y4 T; |! d

Yes, you do(care). : U! Z  ^9 f! i0 H( ^* \

0 o. q  U7 k9 N0 s9 k) E- x; C2 D 至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: 1 g8 G8 J# F2 \" P
1 m: _# n) G8 O* D) p
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) ) T7 M! C& `& M( S& F' E

9 Q, x2 |) p: G. e I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) * ?1 U* e# k& A; x2 x2 W

6 F& l; g! L$ v; q' E I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
" g/ m/ c/ a7 p5 T# w  k/ D  g4 x: ~' l. p3 W5 x7 S; V- Q4 w" V
  但是老外为了自尊,不愿强调自己的错误,所以很少人说:   T) N" ^# N& k, m0 C2 L! }
/ u( x. D8 F. L, V( S
  I couldn't be more wrong. $ i% r+ \* _" ~
  I$ o+ _& ^$ j3 x: A# v
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 2 f7 ~% u% ~# {* @/ X( A% h

9 k& M; ]" v$ ?. y0 ~; P, T! U2 j! r I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) : c, \- j9 U& J% M2 R4 G2 O' L& q& l
# o# t! i. |, h; J/ v
  2. No bones about it. ' |8 O9 a4 l2 z% p

+ [- j3 |6 v( e4 c) J- e 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:   l5 M' G! T& @- q

$ ]  s- ]0 c$ t- d, r8 ]  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
& B% Y- c& d0 z6 O$ a0 c, Y7 m8 q3 Y+ d
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) " t3 u6 i" {7 `8 L
: S6 Q/ J# b; F4 P
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) & L2 b$ q1 i5 K4 B

7 v2 Y3 f6 D+ f) d& N4 w No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) $ z3 b) Q" ~6 N8 \( }+ U5 c

( V2 O! k, I! u1 a/ R: p 3. take it on me!
, r9 i/ T( i# n+ z6 n0 X+ y* u; s- d2 v$ x7 I$ B# P( D- Z. H
意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
% G$ l) \  @; s' X' c) S0 |! j, `) S7 @+ c# `- u7 W3 m
Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
. q& g" e  x: J) z0 \" o: d2 e% d' X
The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
% ~$ b7 _* p2 k) M( n: K: L
7 I& D* x+ Z: u1 V Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
; |; {1 n  N$ J: I
; a; X( V# M/ Y0 j# G4 ^9 z
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
' m: y* F/ S7 {  o7 J. ~. [; t0 k6 V9 s7 b
  4. I am from Missouri. ! e7 F; |+ ^3 [1 E8 Y1 X
- r& M2 {% R% ?6 `) S( j. C2 k
这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
) j- x* m  g* b. A, A
J  q! N" r: s

( U+ `4 p( a7 k4 C He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. ; K* k# N0 o% x  K% y

" }, [, k- S$ W# v* `, ? Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。)
. d( [7 j; t) @  h* z$ H! w6 d
8 |3 l5 A% N" ?; p) a We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
6 {/ E( h! q- a4 x9 [) Z8 z; h
As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
