of the new Nikon D800. Established medium-format image quality is

: b" A: E/ n2 O- ematrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
4 _& P6 ?1 f n" [9 pin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
/ K% V* U B! p: a8 ~8 Aallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject9 U! Z, L9 _1 @* t$ Q" ^1 T/ Y1 t7 g
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography& J% L/ @9 o) X+ b& H: U9 n3 N
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
) t5 _% R3 f' _% G, W! n$ @image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was. @1 g% w( `0 r! Y0 {' x3 O
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
: z/ o* l% j5 W/ n! V: H1 kconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
- N2 l+ K0 r! m- Ubefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
3 }. x" i2 y+ I0 |3 q* p3 Qthanks to the D800.
1 u- ` E1 q* l& V: |When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
+ u3 o' y4 I/ L8 `3 t36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic4 k( ^, M1 t+ ~" G- o' i
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
" z! H( ~# ^& g+ athe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a( F l2 E1 \) d8 T# a: X u9 ^
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as1 `1 L3 T% M; ~& O% H9 d
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
! E' B% G% ?9 DAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor; I0 N8 L& v# A, z6 A N+ ~0 \0 g8 E! d
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is1 s4 V6 ^1 ^7 u( R4 y |8 d! G6 W
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while1 E3 v0 J; G, w9 t2 w B! {0 G
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
" t) `/ b- I& A% E+ ccameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features; ]* U6 E. Q3 w, }7 \& k, A( r
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
6 F8 { m O& oprints and video.
H4 m/ J( l, z7 j- L$ p; mTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is9 [% n9 j5 k8 d/ i- X, c
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
9 y/ U7 V. P* ware important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using1 B0 D4 E5 z8 _% A; F# a) \+ D
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first! {% {9 }1 J) h2 M: a
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws: |0 q1 N9 |: j, P
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
7 [/ i6 \8 E' i" h* Hacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I8 {( q3 K9 i) i; x/ f
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
% E! a# p4 [& M4 ~; [" k$ lthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
, r7 L5 C* P4 R/ A& i9 qphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add' w8 F6 g" H0 X# G4 _* R9 L. F
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the6 @! s% Z7 C1 Y# e) e/ _7 _6 ? ]
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they) f3 I ~" Q1 T6 p/ x( K+ _
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
+ p* f, E3 v5 u8 g+ w9 ]5 E* z. _clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
/ f7 }9 @$ J4 s: j. uto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
