YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
7 P- R. e# s' LAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
" U4 Z  [* Y  C1 ^& |0 Zpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
$ e; W$ z" X7 s2 V, o% P: kThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

% c& w6 O( T0 D% Cproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
" q5 Z- d5 T4 M6 ~; gThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
" [7 V1 I3 C% q, R9 Uthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
1 I6 h' F1 o' k" |participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
; v8 y- c$ Q) }  z% n9 wpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
9 u5 s* b5 o7 v4 V& H9 A5 Z! K4 AAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

3 _2 W* h8 {3 o0 s- |Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
