YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
5 Y6 Q. B8 p( m$ C; ZAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
4 }- h- \3 x# J1 ?% t# `peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
$ @' l5 V# N6 v
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
- F# I) ], H8 s7 ?! X( q, gemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
' m7 v' K3 o" \the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
  S/ ^7 W. e) o# Aparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
0 x6 O5 l* v; L8 I. Qpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
. J( x% ^+ ^# H% gAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
. f, U; V8 X' @5 l7 ]) aand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
  g7 f! Y: V) K6 Y' }) h8 Gfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
