YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
1 B1 Y, Y, Y# t2 o; LAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
1 D0 T! T" }7 n% v7 t% Gpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
' w% O) j( F2 B: `- ?9 {2 bThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
6 N; O0 y! k! B- F* e8 Lthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
- ~+ {) m3 |8 [6 @& iparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
$ D& M1 y  _/ _$ K% A0 G3 N+ Tpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
4 _  Y  X% [* F- Rand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
- W7 m$ Z- b0 w! e& B9 e9 c" ufollow-up once the program is completed.

' L& ^2 `% m% }: c* n6 g, B2 b, SVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
8 g8 m3 y2 ~7 V& T/ O6 b* rYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
