Volunteer Job Description

Position:        Youth Leader
; A4 E9 A! z# I9 ^% X1 G4 G) V7 NDuration of Commitment:Summer T.A.N.G. Youth Program
9 p; n& Z) S# I( ~- {Camp 1 – July 04 – July 14
- e& h  u# p) s: u$ o* o  E1 X  qCamp 2 – July 31 – August 11 (must attend an overnight camp on August 10 to 11)
Time:0915 to 1600(Regular Program Time)
) Q1 x( [2 @, `# f% }*might work in other time in some specific days
Place: ASSIST Community Services Centre

3 b, y6 h7 h( z! F: LDuties:
# S% r# k; T- P: R$ v& F" nTo assist the T.A.N.G. Youth Program Coordinator by providing clerical and/or activities support in the followings:

3 N9 E; d6 T* T2 {/ O6 E Distribution of promotion flyers to schools, churches, communities and relevant social agencies and professionals
) [& F1 I2 Y9 v  _- e Take attendance if available
 Provide positive modelling to youth
# M- ]" \/ W/ w1 H6 z+ P' p* i+ r Facilitate or assist in ice-breaking games and/or other activities
% h# F7 Y- Y6 E Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
- Q% }; V8 U+ G; _. z  \2 ` Research activities related to the session’s topic upon advice of the Program Coordinator
 Watch out on the safety of youth either in centre or fieldtrips
 Report to the Program Coordinator for any doubts or concerns and/or any troubleshoot behaviour
) F: U  m& e+ N  U, I9 M/ K/ \ Act according to the guidance or direction of the Program Coordinator
* l! c3 D+ h# ~4 ? Must follow guidelines or procedures stipulated in the manual/training
 Attend debriefing sessions/ongoing training
 Assist in program planning/design
5 K; d, `8 I  f* K7 H: T7 b Any other program related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator

Attitude/Skills Requirements

 Mature, sensible, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction
 Be open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youths in the program, or youth who is matched on an one-on-one basis
  v/ P' a& k1 E% \  x9 D  s8 N  w A team player, can get along well with other staff & volunteers
 Concentrate efforts in the group session or activities over other distractions
 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
 Value building on strengths in children, youth and families
 Able to get along with youth and/or youth who might at risk
 Certain proficiency in English and Chinese
