SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. u/ g/ h; j7 W$ A
SEDI is staffed to: ) t8 k6 R. q u+ y9 n( A2 _
• conduct socio-economic market and policy research Y# ?# S& q6 r5 D; V; I
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
! G# q, C2 `. n$ G# B• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation 2 q$ M3 f& N( y1 w N; @! U
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs , Q0 u* q" q4 r: \
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
7 e" U7 O6 Y6 f% z• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses 5 V" u6 z; `( {4 U. R
• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada 1 f& {* I/ |- c3 z. m- X
Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
; j& V$ N5 s8 V2 c( i" ]: T• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada % ~. K% F8 E) `3 y2 l! q2 M
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) $ I4 r2 k+ i" B7 N2 W
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required * Q( t- T S( O9 }4 J1 [% V% L
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities & u1 f2 G: z) i6 d
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
& ^3 B9 N% R' N4 Z• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required ( f1 c5 l) r0 O4 \
Other Activities:
/ `! ^7 G& Y) d5 L• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies
# X- U! t+ n) }3 k$ _% ^* `1 q8 p, e• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners 7 w! C3 W2 {. N* p8 t
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
) F: }6 z; [. r3 e! x• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports : J A. f: b: W6 P" b, F
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning 7 ]- U* q+ c( O% o
Primary Qualifications: , ]$ R! G/ A' S8 H
• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
+ g5 N0 b# n. s& t• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
1 {7 n; T5 x$ J7 N; J5 @* f• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training 9 @& X; J4 q) X) K
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities $ o; H& T1 ~, z' W
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams " X! Q4 S, @0 o
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals ! s# h7 F" k, J: k# n3 F7 u$ F8 ~ Z
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
l7 U" M# w1 z6 x• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
; u( {6 l$ l+ g* Z9 ]' X, _7 m• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc ( x; b7 v: q# T! l3 l# t1 ?% k
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education ! y7 J% k" q! o
• Content / curriculum development experience
' d3 D/ J! ~8 c6 [6 P* w• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners + U1 I9 N& S+ }' D7 G+ n
• Excellent organizational skills
& V: f4 k, s6 j( a• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.
- R' U" Z: F* p6 C; o9 M; f1 R• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset " u3 R' ]' @% k, b
• Policy research skill set is an asset " T2 J+ x2 d5 ]/ ` k# [8 T1 W) \1 U
• Marketing and communication experience an asset
