Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
. n" M) U- |& C: d; R# z' r9 p- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
. G0 A* p1 c7 F' Z8 v-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
, }9 s2 ~* n5 A; h3 m- provide support to ISP staff
, T3 t, ]/ K( g+ B% l: _- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
3 o; Q+ Q- B  D% _0 L5 f- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
2 h- i) o2 ?6 a5 @5 i; J% s- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.

- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

: P! n3 p2 \- ^% I! NQualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
! \6 n% ^2 y; f2 Y8 @, z  {! _' A- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
2 z5 r' ]3 t! c- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
1 S9 I( T- a# g5 P" X/ m- o- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
# e  Q$ K; Y2 @- valid driver’s license

- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
8 W& Z; S2 V2 A- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
