Resource Room Advisor/Resume Writer
! \) }1 W9 d# I Provide ongoing positive encouragement and support to clients accessing the Resource Centre.$ f. q( S( F: [8 Y* s0 |  k0 w9 Y
 Continuously interact with all clients in the Resource Area to ensure that their job search requirements are being met.0 \" e$ Y3 N% A+ C( V
 Provide information regarding job search strategies and labour market information., s  U# ]0 Q1 Y, k$ n" }
 Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, effective job search techniques, interview skills, and accessing the hidden job market after workshop completion.4 p5 h" ~, o: g) S! f! i" w
 Maintain all resources in the Resource Room insuring that they are current and relevant.  @/ v3 {& h$ F
 Update and maintain job boards.

 Engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with newcomers, treating them with dignity and in line with the values of the Bredin Institute.! |: i0 ^- ?* ~4 P) O
 Support newcomers participation in the settlement program.& P2 q4 a# r: \
 Promote Bredin Institute’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.
; V( {  {( }3 S/ ?: ^, V Encourage independence and self determination in newcomers
4 ?7 ]; |9 v3 A  P, x  l2 b5 w Work with newcomers in assessing their needs and a needs-based settlement plan.
2 Y- M5 @. I9 H( H2 d' G, N' { Liaise effectively with a range of service providers, both voluntary and statutory, in order to ensure services are available to newcomers.3 B0 b6 {: D' j, c: _; y
 Accompany newcomers to other agencies and to act as advocate as necessary.
+ E4 A% R; B# G+ |4 C" t( a Ensure that newcomers know and understand their entitlements.
, O- C* Y/ w( ?' w0 ] Keep up-to-date all other administrative tasks as directed by the Program Co-ordinator.

 Responsible for intake, orientation and completion of workability assessments.

 Screen and assess clients’ skills and abilities through a workability assessment.
  v- O" I9 ]' Q0 Y, |* s4 {6 Q8 W Determination of which stream of services most appropriate for the client.2 }' F5 F, I( L# W( L: d
 Provide referral information on other services that may be more suitable for the client.% ~  G* e$ d! K" J; q1 r
 Cooperatively with the client, develop an individualized service plan.

 Interact with participants on a continuous basis so that the Service Plan progress can be monitored throughout the program and into the follow up period

 Ensure that participants have access to the required supports to successfully complete their Service Plan( i( j/ v- R2 O3 X+ @
 Assist clients in maintaining a job or in identifying barriers/issues that keep clients from obtaining/maintaining employment8 A; p/ [' Z5 _% U" y
 Assist clients with obtaining required documentation for working in their profession in Canada
) r: D. H& \, `: ], r Develop and maintain knowledge of current programs and services available for participants
; h+ }, ~& k- H4 t7 n  R+ C* W Complete participant reviews with the participants
  O2 B' e; j' C8 r" r9 G* V Complete 90 and 180 day follow up with client after training completion, E1 h( n/ L! l$ x: A" x1 W6 {
 Perform other duties as assigned by manager/coordinator
