Position Profile Heavy Duty Mechanics inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations.

Diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner
' g4 C. A# }/ b4 d; iProviding daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
& y! T8 i, N3 h6 @' ?, _5 W1 Q5 KDiagnosing locomotive component malfunctions
( G+ G( P5 h- z3 zPreparing inspection, work and maintenance reports

Good eye-hand coordination

Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 pounds

May need current, valid drivers license, CDL, and locomotive engineer certification
* u( k- w# s1 h, F* nVisual acuity and hearing threshold tests are required for this position. Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
