Position Available: Alberta Father Involvement Initiative Coordinator

w9 t& i5 }3 r. S! I1 A1 c. i$ [% KWorking in the best interests of children, the Coordinator will provide creative and dynamic leadership in promoting the involvement of fathers in the lives of their children. Primary strategies for the initiative include:
( J! _3 X5 [ v2 O: m using social media and social marketing and web sites to inform and educate in support of father involvement
6 T( N" N' N( n) u( q* N8 o increasing awareness of best practices in providing services for fathers
- y& c) G+ O! p+ b8 P0 V& l developing appropriate educational programs to promote farther involvement $ M/ n! u& V& I

This is a contract position for one year, with the extension dependent on funding, and is located in Edmonton. 5 Q3 [$ y3 f2 \

The Alberta Network for Safe and Healthy Children, located within the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and the Alberta Home Visitation Network Association (AHVNA) are working collaboratively to implement this initiative. Both provincial networks are committed to encouraging positive parent involvement and recognize that supporting and informing parents is an essential component to achieving this goal.

Responsibilities: + s9 l5 @4 J, ?+ }4 z: A% D
 Identify and implement relevant social media strategies to promote father engagement , k5 a! p4 l! F2 H# l
 Take a lead role in organizing, implementing and coordinating projects and activities related to education and support for fathers.
0 y' n! h2 s- V: i% S7 ]9 \6 L9 q2 B Develop and maintain a database of current and relevant parenting information about Fathering.) ]: t, i' J9 u6 u, Q
 Use a community development approach to promote information sharing and use of best practices program development for fathers
; Y B0 V2 q, q5 r2 P+ w Actively research and acquire sources of funds to support the sustainability of the initiative,1 I4 r- v0 h1 X/ }
 Monitor and regularly report progress towards established outcomes. # O. C5 X) Z* V% x
: C H' o0 M' a, J0 _Required Qualifications: ; O, I; _* t! |% n3 u+ J
 Baccalaureate degree in human services. Masters degree preferred.. _0 y' i( ^/ w/ \
 A minimum of four years experience using a community development model of practice. : F% Y# l S8 J- f$ f( e
 Knowledge of/experience with social media, social marketing, and e-learning. 4 J' t1 i: P& c6 P
 Experience with program development/ W8 K5 r* {$ o- g( U
 Experience with fund development2 Q* h; W# O6 n& J" x) R
 Knowledge of/experience with families of diverse backgrounds and make-up 0 _4 Z1 U+ v) [8 Z* P) P; L+ r
 Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.

 Criminal Records and Children and Youth Services clearances are required.
