Duties! s, S" s) Y1 g$ ^/ p
Delivers, sorts and picks up mail, parcels, courier documents, cylinders, crates, dangerous goods, furniture, tack boards, tables and chairs, surplus equipment, and any related incoming and outgoing items6 J7 ]6 H$ B5 ~0 O
Obtains signatures, scans traceable items into Palm Pilots upon delivery to departments
; r' J9 Y5 J, D( Y+ EEnsures Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations are followed on TDG shipments inbound and outbound9 C9 N5 K7 P' j% E7 H% x
Prioritizes workload and requests from dispatcher and team lead
2 m; V7 Q) O$ i2 OOperates University vehicles from small vans to 3-ton trucks, including standard transmissions( x3 t% H1 {2 O0 t% E+ N, ^$ W+ ]6 C
Performs related duties as required" q3 j0 d" V+ W {% x
Qualifications+ \, E* t# f" ?0 Q3 x
Valid Class 5 drivers license - the successful candidate will be required to provide a Drivers' Abstract and have completed a Defensive Driving course in the previous 2 years.% M& l* q; M; k( ^
High School diploma; previous driving experience required0 M' V* X1 V3 ]
Current certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods; Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) certification6 V+ w4 E& u7 E2 r
Training related to proper handling procedures of Radioactive and Biohazard materials4 u+ }4 D M) \( w5 ~' y/ T& B# p
Ability to operate equipment including forklift, power-jack, pallet-jack, Johnson bar
