New Program-‘ Tweenie Program’ (Ages 8-12)
Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
3 E" p; w% Y" v1 h6 k) @! [- S Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
! v, r, R0 Z/ S5 x( G- c Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
6 q; H8 H% F0 P, g1 e: k& V Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
  S6 P6 g- X& h! ~ Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
! X" ^% a2 c$ h; l) R) B Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
( T8 Q: v, \6 a- P0 c% ` Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
$ G( Z$ m$ c6 q Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
  Y0 q+ K& M( @& s Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

" W& M( y# M9 qPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
# [. ]2 t+ C. e, p: vstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
