This temporary full-time position is for approximately 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02.

Play a leading role in a diverse range of innovative, multi-stakeholder initiatives and projects to shape key strategies and policies that will transform the way we work with citizens and communities to create a safe, healthy and vibrant city.

* c# S/ I: E1 gUse your strategic thinking expertise and innovative problem solving to advance solutions and best practices. Reporting to the Director, Policy & Research, your primary duties will include:           
6 O: J4 n  @( {/ U1 C•        Participate as a member of the Non-profit Space project team that will involve completing a number of research and writing tasks for the preparation of the final report due by May 2011
•        Research and write Committee and/or Council reports as requested within specified timelines
: l! ~) H; a/ G•        Respond to internal and external stakeholder requests for information related to non profit space developments including the Clareview Multicultural Centre, South Edmonton Multicultural centre, Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit and Cycle Building development
•        Develop relationships with key stakeholders within the department and provide leadership and implement multi-stakeholder initiatives in accordance with identified communities needs and Council directed policy initiatives
•        Liaise with key contacts within other departments and community organizations involved in the work on space for non-profit, multicultural and arts groups that support and encourage best practices to meet needs of citizens and departments
•        Lead complex projects, at the department level, intended to transform services of three very distinct lines of business: Fire Services, Neighbourhood and Community Development Services, and Recreation Facility Services
•        Take a leadership role in initiating and managing strategic information, policy and service delivery projects with community partners, other municipalities and other levels of government
Qualifications:
•        Master's degree in Social Work, Business Administration or in a related field
•        A minimum of 3 years of professional social planning experience in the areas of public administration and public policy development

•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report and briefing note writing

( _8 l7 p$ Z; a* Z- A( ~( k•        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team environment and with a diverse community
•        Ability to learn quickly, work independently and multitask under time constraints
•        General proficiency with Microsoft Office

; l  s2 i1 `6 S9 u" zSalary Range:  21M, Salary Grade: 030, $37.128- $46.913 (Hourly), $2,506.12- $3,166.65 (Bi-Weekly), $65,409.83- $82,649.67 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
