; j' S' p; \1 r* x ~" p2 SThe Community-University Partnership for the Study of Children, Youth and Families (CUP) was created in 2000 to facilitate collaborations in research, education, and knowledge sharing among University, community, and government organizations in the areas of child, youth, and family development. The Families First Edmonton (FFE) is a three-year research project focused on linking families on low-income assistance with the services and supports they need to promote their health and well-being and to prevent illness.$ L, B5 X' s* [4 B+ q* d

Duties

•Obtains interview schedules from the research assistant and confirms dates and times with the families
2 `" m. }0 F, b4 Y, ~. N0 A% J; y! h•Explains the study and interview procedure to family; obtains written consent; completes questionnaires with families at their homes and returns interview packages to the office
' X' J: v* @# z1 l) c2 O1 N r•Leaves 30-day calendar for the families with instructions on how to fill it out; reschedules with families to retrieve the calendar
% |9 d% ^7 z+ N+ L, \•Scores standardized instruments9 W) L6 r! h9 \
•Notifies research assistant that interview is complete or of the need for interview to be rescheduled% p. ~+ N0 I3 u( r# \3 ?+ _( D
•Reports progress to supervisor and/or research coordinator on a regular basis
! ]0 b V2 y& X6 I( Q- \•Performs other related tasks as required

4 _+ |/ c" `* F& z# S•High School diploma supplemented by post-secondary course work in health and social sciences; undergraduate degree in human ecology, nursing, psychology or social work preferred5 X0 w, p9 Y4 \! t
•Experience in conducting quantitative research and collecting data is an asset; training on conducting social research and obtaining longitudinal data
: A J& i6 [) h6 g8 M1 e•A good understanding of basic principles of conducting social science and health research; ability to use and score standardized tests on children
0 i3 \4 P4 ]5 n•Previous training in working with vulnerable populations; experience working with vulnerable families with children and familiarity with the areas of health, psychology and child development an asset# U% P m+ o" N ^6 d' O
•Computer proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
/ V8 U, o- s5 z( j: C/ V•Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills; good accuracy and attention to detail

•Ability to provide a clear child welfare check and criminal records check
