FUNCTION:
7 G) y. R9 u* D) _3 n2 B! XAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

8 [5 d  G, {, i; u, N5 l: S" ^• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
6 h6 R0 k9 J4 \: s9 Y4 @% g• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
3 h( Z1 j  e3 y5 T: E( h• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
) n9 F7 \2 e3 [' a. ^5 H% dBi /Reporting/ETL
* R6 v) S$ J( A+ l: ~  U" m• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
3 n5 y0 Z  N4 u9 q& i: f6 f9 j• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.

, D' O& c! r( E9 o1 c• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
( F: u/ c) E7 X8 i3 V. f  R0 G• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
( f5 U; [& I- T' K1 n• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
1 g" g+ I5 F. W% k• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
