FUNCTION:
1 m2 I3 q+ V( F9 i, CAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
& v5 c9 Z* W( y$ ^5 l+ M* CEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
, m3 K- {5 g' ?• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
5 R/ F* L& c1 a! M+ u• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
" A$ D% D3 x/ u• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
* [& M  b7 d! S$ L5 `% ~  L; ~2 A• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

+ Z& _% U' J" iSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
" o8 W' D3 Y: U4 L1 K# J• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
$ d: _9 O! I+ ?0 P• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
5 m3 r5 c# k4 K• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
/ }! a" g9 y+ b2 S3 i2 V• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
7 G. ?( ^5 y- c% w+ ~: h0 @: F• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
