FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

) O. I9 V4 o) Q5 p+ X* ~• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
" L5 D% C! |) x- v1 Y  Z• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

; ^+ Z8 D3 f9 c1 v• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
3 }! h( E. U% @9 a- _+ S8 D• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
* Z( v, O; z  w$ A• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
& U1 U; ]  q, K( [• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
$ v* y$ w+ u$ e) p' S# J+ X; p• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
) B* m" i" J! ^- W% w• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
6 Q! O" G9 x# `( ~" B- p• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
$ r- n9 o6 ]! u0 {$ ~- h• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
6 U4 w2 y: l6 W, L• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
