& C# K8 e1 X, ^, a- aThis is a temporary student position up to 8 months intended specifically for Engineering Co-op students.

Collections Services is looking for an enthusiastic and customer service driven Waste Collection Engineering Co-op Student. As a co-op student, you will report directly to the General Supervisor of Collection Engineering and work with various groups from Management to the front line staff in both office and field environments. You will be a member of the Engineering Team supporting the City of Edmonton's Waste Collection and Drop-off Services.

Functions:

" f/ w0 S5 b! F, SCollect and process field data for the optimization of waste collection routes
7 R! P4 g6 m' |# ~' iDevelop a module using the raw vehicle tracking GPS data to analyze the collection efficiencies and provide statistics
# d' ~( H2 l- T* i5 d; GDevelop a module to track waste container inventories
4 L4 C  s5 ^7 k0 r' h" RAssist the contract management
Assist in the implementation of the routing system
; D2 K( {+ B8 B- ], }+ AConduct engineering studies and analysis for waste collection and drop-off services
  H" o& L" K8 {0 sAssist in the administration of contracts and the project management
$ \% C7 N( V' p% DProvide technical support to operations
1 J1 u2 @& t' N; H; z# EQualifications:
( S9 q3 G: L4 `2 }" rStudent must currently be enrolled in an Engineering Technology Co-op or Engineering Co-op degree program in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
) G8 R& U) o! G" f; r" l' oCourses in waste management are considered an asset
+ k; m+ t/ r8 o8 O# sExcellent verbal and written communication skills
& A5 f( ^) M5 |$ ^  M7 y' F3 lComprehensive data analysis skills
Well developed planning and priority setting skills, with the ability to multi-tasks and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge and experience in GIS/GPS is considered an asset
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 33.75 hours per week.

Salary Range: $22.095 - $26.315 (Hourly)
