+ q j2 J+ O: t Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

; k0 k& ]+ R/ G3 w7 b2 ] Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
2 T: r, @- X9 Q# RThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, % k& A# v+ `2 a% R8 p6 L& `" ?# E9 c
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 2 P6 O; V6 y& t% A1 G$ l; J. D {
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 4 l) Y2 W& S; R* h
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
2 u# n2 F$ g( Inewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
' @( i" r3 U# Eassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-7 Y" }4 t2 B' @+ c& l, w

Accesses comprehensive, up-to-date information about services and resources available 9 I8 P' R. K. {- A- w5 Y6 o
within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. 3 d' ~+ f: |% v" Q; H3 e
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support 5 i0 ~" ~( Z( h- S3 N3 t& R1 ^
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

Qualification
# s+ l* t8 M" I' o, r
& p4 T2 J+ N: U" L Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and ' l8 S9 \ x! ]6 h. b
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 2 R v2 A5 B# o0 |% s
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family * _; `# ^: V) w( `7 W
support needs 6 ~% G" W6 k- `9 @
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
" ?( @* x t$ P( b0 I7 b Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
' T/ L% Z0 l3 o& [ Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate 2 p8 `" O' L) Q
insurance coverage for work
