Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
; L5 u8 p! Y7 I) [community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to ! J2 [+ `1 O' C5 S" a F% _& ^$ m
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. ! x% D" |' v5 o. b4 w) w' ?
7 z+ P" p0 d% j+ m0 a/ V/ a: A Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
- l4 Y) m6 j: e6 U% G! F% VThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 2 f! k6 S8 T' U5 p8 W, k
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social $ Q d }6 H1 p6 Q4 U/ c! I
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
' G& _, I- @ }9 J2 o3 mneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for / g: ^4 w- B" F# @$ w$ q
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial " b/ @: |. x0 N, Y( c- F
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-8 ]( J& g! q3 r+ X* I1 ?. ^8 B
centered delivery model. 5 }7 h1 ]8 r8 f

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

Qualification & J& D( u- w! E

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
& r# n) a1 Z" `+ lexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. - }2 j+ D0 V3 p4 K
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
& k* G' g& S+ V, D3 f! Q6 P- gsupport needs
+ z4 _+ q9 X. f Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
& H1 B4 I/ ^4 y Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages 9 a- _6 K8 k9 { ^- \+ k% f5 h
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
