Are you interested in being a leader for the City of Edmonton as it strives to support the capacity building initiatives of Edmonton's immigrant and refugee communities? If so, then this may be the job for you. The Multicultural Liaison Officer works with all City Departments as well as external partners to promote awareness of the rich multicultural fabric of the City of Edmonton, improve accessibility to programs and services, and support the community and organizational development of Edmonton's multicultural communities.

The Multicultural Liaison Officer will:
  N$ }/ b/ e; }# O•        Serve as a contact point for civic and multicultural agencies regarding issues related to this sector
3 A1 l0 v$ G4 o5 t, X•        Provide current and comprehensive program and organizational development resources to the multicultural community including information on grants, program supports - including design, delivery and evaluation, facility/space access, board development, needs assessment and, volunteer recruitment and management- X8 m9 q1 D7 c
•        Encourage and facilitate collaboration and information sharing among diverse multicultural, not for profit groups7 T7 k3 l9 I, c3 Q* _0 I
•        Through the implementation of a variety of tools and strategies, work with the multicultural sector and its members to build capacity
9 ]: o, u# b  J•        Facilitate organizational change and growth& O/ H2 ^7 O* R+ `1 w( ^# m
•        Develop and deliver public presentations, educational modules, reports and speeches to the public, city staff and key stakeholders! F* ~/ w' o7 e  [8 P. U
•        Update and maintain current and comprehensive materials and information on the City web site as well as updates for the 311 call centre. D3 r' r. E3 }( g$ I/ r
Qualifications: 4 U9 P1 ~! `7 `5 d: x6 S2 [
•        University graduation in Recreation Administration or related undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 year's experience in the field of community recreation or community development including competency in program, organizational, and board development. Experience working with multicultural and diverse communities is required.

•        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners, stakeholders, public, government officials and management- E5 T" S  D( u4 i8 d6 `# D
•        Global understanding of the issues faced by newcomers with respect to immigration and settlement
, d) O, {# R: y, }1 [•        Strong organizational, problem solving and consensus building skills
. i3 ^; Y% C: q5 s+ g) a' O•        Demonstrated expertise in creating, managing and leading cross-sectoral teams+ R* ^! ~% G, i; u* w7 _
•        Adaptability and innovation including a demonstrated ability to respond to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
, `- d  F/ w$ }2 Z0 S•        Experience in policy and strategy development, including the application of best practices from internal and external sources to improve current work processes9 J& L: X% N. F2 L' ?* l
•        Training and demonstrated experience in project management and ability to facilitate, lead and motivate project teams through to completion
$ \, h& \. C7 t•        Ability to work independently and multi-task under time constraints and competing priorities6 q0 Y  I# f7 G5 n% C* H
•        Strong attention to detail2 \6 H0 [. G5 }% f% H
•        Ability to plan and manage events) Z; s' v* E6 U4 t7 O6 h
•        General proficiency with Microsoft Office
4 K2 L! ?. q1 o* ~; iNote: Candidates will be tested. A security clearance that is satisfactory to the department is a condition of employment, it must be provided before your start date, and it is the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business use auto insurance. Possession of a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators license (or operators licensing equivalent recognized by the Operator Licensing and Vehicle Control regulation, Alta.Reg 320/2002) and eligibility to obtain a City driver's permit.4 W. x% C5 F7 A+ u

; A6 p. V1 d. |" qHours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable work program.2 J, o1 j% a% j4 M/ c

& v# h0 H0 Q1 }1 @# T5 N, W4 ZSalary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 025, $32.811 - $41.195 (Hourly), $2,214.74 - $2,780.66 (Bi-Weekly), $57,804 - $72,575.290 (Annual). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
