Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ! s+ r6 C  \3 c
execution of the YWCA Strategy
: h# O: b  F$ {' p9 X 8 v: h3 C6 ^0 J* k2 I! a
Specific responsibilities include:  $ F+ ?6 T% J) ?( V  ~: g; [) q

; H7 W4 d% n2 t4 M* x- N2 a  |! u' [•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
0 e* o, J0 {) ]% \0 qthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
% m& ?+ x: a8 b: T( P& X" \3 R4 rthe Board of Directors;  " p1 {7 m7 u6 I9 a& m  [4 J+ \
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations " c) M0 j6 X3 h1 p
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to . x- Y* u, x# K* G
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
: P- {% ^1 k6 I3 _•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, w3 I% q* v' y* y) S0 l6 Robjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 m' h: U- _1 z4 O+ I( n. a. @

•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  * N& e% |) P' D) L0 }, E, q- |
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
) U4 p  }! P' p$ Kthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
. i' H: K5 X, X& |% _+ S& D•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
9 o, y  T- n4 [7 Vchanging needs of the organization and community;
" ~. n0 T4 j: X•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 3 o/ z# q5 w" |, l
commitments; ) ]1 C" x1 W. s9 U/ D5 H
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  # E# j1 X. U5 b1 C/ I
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
8 p6 o# ]# L, q3 S& i& ^$ Lselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  $ E& ]. r# @$ |/ Z1 z) T: H
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 7 c( m2 x0 w* S$ v0 C8 W
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ! x9 ~$ V- n, Z" O( b) j; K2 P
effectively and positively represent the association; ( _# A4 [0 ~/ S* m9 |" S
0 Q* ^% E% G- Y/ C2 K* O
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
9 K& t& w- [( v# lthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  : \. A+ D1 \$ v
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 7 k; ?' E* p5 g; T: P
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
6 ?: ^/ G9 Y& Z4 h8 xthe forthcoming year;  
. r: E0 i# [" Z•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 n# w* n; g* p  |- S3 Lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! t: V* P& g2 c! g" a
YWCA Canada; and
9 h6 h: n1 S( w  _6 ]$ M•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task : k0 Z% x- S+ s  v
Forces.  ' t0 b$ w- o  h0 \

' K% w* n3 ?4 \# g3 }•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; * p& F3 ^5 f  B" o; r8 O. `
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
% T- U# f8 r8 w+ Y( o$ J  ]around decisions, plans and actions;
' ~/ D+ K' D" R: w: M. n•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; " E  s) T8 n7 m1 K7 C. @
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable , t% @7 R9 x2 O% n; d" L
and achievable with realistic timeframes; ' o$ j; d, \9 W8 B( S8 t
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 9 o8 @% F  @" s+ ]4 B" y+ }/ }  h
simultaneously; 5 Q( C' u2 R/ G! U9 L; @0 X, V
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build % H2 m; y2 q  ^! e+ _) w2 z
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
9 V/ v  r+ K. a. _9 r•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
9 a8 a# p" s9 n•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
. {+ E1 I8 ~& Q+ Z: s$ ?•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 7 S3 M- V8 L( Z( |
/ P0 A1 N0 q! Y2 ^- v/ J
Required Experience
7 T/ v# m9 J6 v•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ Q" K, c8 Q' G- Q4 }2 t
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# c2 s7 I2 \3 n7 ?8 r4 e, c' wabilities;
# f% m# p5 b$ c) z4 x•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
: w! E7 {( h. B6 B7 e+ \! vNetworking and Fundraising; 7 R+ o( c; n* K' h
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 2 I( |( X( w6 n) c" c7 [& H
and financial statements; and ' `$ u# ?) e0 T: ^$ w8 r! R- y
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
  f: ^$ @4 g, ecentered perspective.
