The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 8 N5 n% n0 J9 O. q

execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
. H6 o1 g J9 |4 fthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 7 p4 b8 h3 A% w" J7 p; u) E% \
the Board of Directors;
4 O- q+ _/ ?. X! K% s5 x• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations / ^# i. ~/ Y; d, u
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to & c/ F* j# Q/ Q. X$ ^+ G( T2 G
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; & M( O8 M7 F, E# E/ e. B3 |4 X
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 y) f, d! C- `; ]/ i1 `3 c
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
4 [' {! L& M& Zthe board; 5 k- h3 |$ M& \; Y9 ?
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
# Y2 c7 Q4 I7 u$ {3 W W* h8 j• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
/ S* H# j8 L" _& N" S( ^5 ]the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 @6 O' [2 `9 \( t
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
$ U2 o5 f; l; E6 g) s- {1 Hchanging needs of the organization and community; - \9 w* M: x, E1 Q# S8 l
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
, N* R9 h5 [! m& Q4 y( t( {3 U2 Kcommitments;
; D& h s) M; V* ]* t. |) L• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
* f2 y# D9 c& N2 C" A• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 L+ d7 a7 {. K! I
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 8 T& [' n6 @9 n) e9 g+ A
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
! s' \/ e o; ~• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
- L+ p% y( v! C- `4 |effectively and positively represent the association; 1 I& j" q- l+ V* n$ q+ {( A6 Y
9 ^# t0 j& w7 k5 O$ D( g# g @• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
" w+ i: p& u$ E0 A$ f5 vthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
/ N* t. D _: r' f# T% n$ d• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 3 s+ F* V% W* l, H. V# ^# X
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

, ?8 p& w# O4 Y% ^5 V• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # f5 W3 N/ j S0 M% }! p1 p
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ( T* }8 Y% p0 L
YWCA Canada; and
" ~5 J* |9 p; M5 \: Q• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 2 X1 S+ I; Q# m
Networking and Fundraising;

and financial statements; and
