Phalaenopsis (the one LZ pictured here) is not a kind of terrestrial plants, the seedling it produced on the flower stem isn't a branching bud (phalaenopsis never branches out) but a self propagation process (asexual reproduction) often induced by deterioration of the mother plant so if you are patient enough to wait till aerial roots developed, it isn't hard to replant it in fresh growing media (sphagnum moss or barks), the same care is needed as you grow any orchid seedlings, no special skill required, In fact if you cut it off at this rootless stage (no matter what number of leaves it has) and plant it in soil, it will not survive (never in soil of any kind because it is not terrestrial, its roots are aerial and have no root-hairs). Patience is the key. |
