CALGARY - A fire has halted operations at one of Suncor Energy's two oilsands upgraders north of Fort McMurray, the company said Tuesday.

$ D8 U/ W z& ?; x, d9 G! dNo one was hurt in the incident which happened after a fire broke out around midnight at its upgrader #1, Suncor said.

The energy giant said the 125,000-barrel-per-day unit was shut down after the fire, and it is currently assessing damage. l/ G$ P0 c5 \+ A
% m' \. a$ a1 x) n. kSuncor has been plagued by a series fires at its oilsands operations in the past five months, suffering three fires since October in the upgraders which convert bitumen into synthetic crude oil.
