In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
3 T2 X0 B6 C5 } {0 kPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 9 _, @1 F& B# l; \& m$ A
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 5 ` f1 Q0 R+ Y; z' b# ]
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
( _0 k* \6 N( U( nMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
! T& a" Z3 d3 S# y' i" P7 i' tMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
9 ]/ |" N# V/ n% Q" R$ D/ m% r. h0 yExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 4 T- a$ ?$ h+ N- i1 k. h6 ^) `
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ' C2 A6 B! N1 c2 ?' T( H4 p
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 1 Q/ R0 S3 D8 u6 j; Z/ u
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
, u' {' n7 ~- n' AIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
8 b. f4 V' l$ i+ G0 Z6 o: EEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

. R% u# E" z& `1 NA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
|# c5 b: d+ X) A9 L) SPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ( v& e" o/ ], Y. D! L
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 3 R0 ^* ?, t4 n: J% z6 \6 e1 e
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
2 S, e9 q/ y" ]! w. n0 J# yIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. # p8 \! x/ J( \
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
