Responsibilities 4 v( o# |- D3 J9 p0 y9 v3 q
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
- J S3 \+ d. e4 u+ uPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. / Y8 H% m7 t( V. x* L& k( f9 t# @* I
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. , Y! h( z, P0 V$ W4 v
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 6 P6 d) D o+ S2 Y) }* y# f
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. # ^/ }9 j+ H, V- B. W
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 6 N9 v) Q- @7 w4 }$ ?; k, n0 `
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 1 U' s4 p( |9 ] o7 ^% T
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ( D1 G( R. q8 `* |4 k4 w
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. . f. i) D' S1 k- x% ?6 q
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

! a5 {! a; F& I# yEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

- j6 I( f. p1 _( }7 k/ ^& UA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 9 `1 _6 @' g9 J
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 8 M6 c$ H* S m
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
4 v( J5 j/ X8 vPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
$ l3 H* d2 ^; ^" CIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
) n I( \! @/ K1 lProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
