Responsibilities 4 l- q) l; s: ~! C# S: G: g# S
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
, `% p7 @: y/ b6 O, J% APlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. / S% D9 ? Y5 @
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. v4 T; V3 G( P7 Y) H- [# k
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
6 [3 t4 Z9 }% _0 K5 HMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
" W, d( R+ b6 g- |0 q6 n0 [6 y) n6 nMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. - ?( W v L* r9 s
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
5 s9 k$ f* K1 p' YEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
7 `+ L# \- |2 d; TDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
" i) L4 _1 n s" s4 ]; J. W1 NAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
, }! w0 ]# {) M8 H! k$ dIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
% N* g8 J. ]/ I2 Q3 U6 FEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. $ G; C! {4 `6 t. @5 k( w
Qualifications 7 T! p# t$ y9 j8 \ F- M1 k# p
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
; M0 {8 j* ~& J3 ?Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
: Q& F0 J5 b, F' [/ [6 D. O) [Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. % V- T8 _6 @1 {
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
' v3 i7 P) f# J0 MIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
. F( Z0 t$ a$ \+ I/ Z, \Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
