A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.+ `6 b* h/ n; a5 `% B
2 p% \: T4 ]: B G3 H1 WThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
( M' ~* A0 ?$ c2 M) w2 sNo illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA). + v) H! D% k4 D. n7 x# c! W$ X

In a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.

1 J* v m9 N3 x2 ECFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
