website ( www.h1n1.ualberta.ca ) for the most current information% h* f/ @0 m! O
available, including signs and symptoms of influenza and what you should7 o# q- {7 F( A9 F4 e* ] K$ Y
do in the event that you find yourself ill.

your own health. Alberta Health and Wellness points out that the4 o E. m5 L" `: z, r( ]- b! Q
influenza virus is contagious and is spread person to person via close
+ \ s+ {. k; j2 } \( rcontact. The virus also rests on hard surfaces such as counters and4 C7 F. x2 {2 b( y# r6 b. ]
doorknobs and can spread when people touch contaminated surfaces and& F0 y. Q7 }6 z) s8 \- h1 O
then unknowingly transfer the virus to their eyes, nose or mouth.0 k; P; F6 ~! L" q- |+ ]
Practicing good preventive hygiene (e.g., wash your hands and cover your
7 m/ N8 [1 f6 e& P4 ~& y. ~cough) and following the self-care practices as outlined by Alberta# ^% @, S+ j9 J% u: h; U5 y
Health and Wellness will greatly assist in minimizing the chance of' l2 d, ^, B# Y, _3 W
infection.
