This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations. O5 y' t: q( h+ Q; y$ }" ~ Eligibility Criteria# V; x$ X) L- J/ S+ b
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:# r' Z2 n: x! ?+ c
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less 9 J3 [/ T1 n8 v( H& D) y; y•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education & _/ M2 T6 p. F* O0 {: [& x•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English % r5 w* q' ~) \ Q" {* d$ p7 P•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 9 D8 E4 h6 y% f' ?: {•No prior Canadian work experience in their field ( f P3 Y0 { u' ]! j* k•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less& Y3 u2 b; U+ ~4 \* z1 f
•Be eligible to work in Canada 6 |% a! V% r0 f) U•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop & M# d4 [% M/ e/ N4 A8 s•Lack access to professional networks 8 s6 P8 q. S+ T1 y& m! x# r- _2 G•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning G6 H: C8 ?+ d7 }/ \ Time Commitment + f: t9 A" }! O6 T5 V. PThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.( y4 ~- [6 b" c" C
