This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
1 W% x u1 z$ h/ V) b, LEligibility Criteria
8 [3 }8 }! o" [5 h& J, f% I* Z( VAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
6 L, ]% ~( u2 y•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
8 g s( f& k/ [6 u•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education. v" P9 g5 N. t. Y, R" d9 Q
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
( W" D, e1 p! D% F6 G4 a•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 8 W8 ~3 F, y& [
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field4 v/ M4 S3 A* B6 z, Y) s
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less

; R3 x( i; f0 f0 I t•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop7 m6 {: Y* X6 U
•Lack access to professional networks7 b( Q5 i! M7 ~+ L
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning

$ T( y- L6 P* l ~" M7 e3 \The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
