This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
, Z8 I7 x6 Z; |; r$ J- Q! ?: C% R7 fEligibility Criteria7 p2 h- c; W# p2 }
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:( S" S4 Y6 e# K1 K
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less i. Y" g) r( ]2 E& b3 R
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education. E& v' a0 S- i
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English7 J; v8 r, f' S
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
! A" e, |. x3 t! k$ b* ^•No prior Canadian work experience in their field; Y9 t* x. ~% u9 }6 ~) u5 r
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
$ H: a" ^) H+ ]) I•Be eligible to work in Canada
( z1 t" A C m3 `•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop' B( S. X( ^% s# e$ J5 N
•Lack access to professional networks

, _- V9 o, d6 N) ~( H! v4 sThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
