JOB DESCRIPTION

" U! c& t% q8 J3 X" E  p4 sUnder the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special 7 [) o5 g! f5 K
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: : e4 J2 _" c7 e: f1 M

+ J% [6 k% ~4 ?, C0 X9 P! oDuties:  Special Events  + r' S2 z) S# J) ^' k
Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events:   j- I3 Q: \  o3 C8 s  M
·  Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee 2 I8 J( m! z% W! H5 X
·  Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist   h6 J( r9 @  n* X5 E+ U* D
with decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the
+ v* e$ a; y+ [: I: ?& [advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure
# f, K0 R$ ?7 Fset-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.

; a0 n, |- y5 H7 y" K, C6 b·  Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee ( `1 D( A9 V7 h+ q; H

Assist in developing and implementing a volunteer program:
* ~& w+ F4 W' N# s·  Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions
' [  U& a3 h# N( y, y·  Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers
: W. C& S" A1 e  P" u9 \" b/ t·  Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers % }# _: y; C4 M, k8 \/ z. r
·  Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers  
0 [( D3 t* f5 Y% E·  Complete program administration, statistics and records 7 P% G9 k) o) Z; ~( i  `! r

3 r" X" i4 V$ R4 q3 X3 xQualifications: , L2 Z' F2 k) ]" V0 c# y* e  {
·  Completion of 12th! q' C" _9 h4 e( K
Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation
9 ~# `2 Z& n/ ]- pAdministration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent. # W) W# `2 Y! J5 P" E; F
·  At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct $ {; K: s. R' H+ s) R
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events
! p: ]' |& c7 j0 ~7 t·  Experience working with and managing volunteers & s" i. }* _4 `
·  Specialized skills and training in working with seniors  . r$ m3 t" x+ Q8 `
·  Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events & V  z' h* X8 y2 o* [, q. C
·  Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training " `- e. d5 d; p; J0 [/ ]
·  Security Clearance - x& t% A, P( j' s
  n+ T7 [$ ?: l& O5 R, o
Hours:   Flexible – some evening and weekend work 1 h5 D6 t" m0 q+ C6 n
+ u& O' g( B- m: S' V; U0 f2 I
Wages:  $16 - $20/hour depending on qualifications
% d! z& u; a' g: n* I     3-month probation to start
