, E5 U* D0 H! k* T8 W7 s' V( O+ tJob Description/Duties: Duties -Works in the area of the Hole School of Construction within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; supports the teaching and research activities of the Hole School of Construction group -Maintains and operates equipment in teaching and research laboratories -Assists professors conducting laboratories for undergraduate and graduate students -Designs, builds and repairs experimental apparatus, including data acquisition, electronics and computer network systems -Operates, maintains and repairs concrete and asphalt laboratories testing equipment, including cleaning, material supply and equipment calibrating -Operates and maintains measurement systems such as on-site web cameras, data loggers and electronic sensors -Conducts fieldwork as required for teaching and research purposes Qualifications Valid Class 5 drivers license - the successful candidate will be required to provide a Drivers' Abstract and have completed a Defensive Driving course in the previous 2 years. -Technical diploma (Civil, Mechanical, Construction or Computer Network Technology) -Demonstrated ability to conduct material testing (concrete and asphalt) as well as design and skills to build, use data acquisition systems and computer network systems -Previous experience in the following desirable: concrete mixing and testing; woodworking or carpentry and welding or metal fabrication (basic knowledge); machining; electrical wiring; surveying; computer hardware, software and network installation -Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact well with people from different cultural backgrounds.
