7 w+ ~8 o+ d. m' U' U3 Z& zBig Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. ( B; r/ a" e7 l6 ^

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

$ e% l0 m+ s0 s' V- q7 \Key Responsibilities Include9 D# G9 M& ~: U: {/ W
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
4 G0 h& G' ^7 c3 G• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
; O& p" \4 l3 M. `• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
# u' p6 L; W+ n3 X* o8 l• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, |$ d! P' ` C% V" s$ P8 Z! b
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
+ _5 M, w \' a0 V3 f' ?: {• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.. w: H$ T" K! t' H; U M% C
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.; K) G$ @- q' ~4 }" D: |

The successful candidate will have:9 C: t' g+ [( G+ g7 @
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
# D. s+ a4 o( s( w* A3 K• Experience with children. k# x1 a! \2 l/ r, |% S
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
7 R% O; a3 e |• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.( D" M: b# f$ w2 y# I
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
$ F+ r' _& h: O! L! b* x4 e+ h• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
# g# \: O5 y/ u8 U! d( I• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
% U8 q) t( r- s8 G" u• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check - L8 K. \5 I# Z3 e
