Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. # A" X& S# j0 I* q0 A+ e6 i6 V
# k e, e9 q$ r5 O/ U# h+ W2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students
. G4 c( {3 i2 |0 x& z# D- _(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school). }, T! g* X& `' c& R
; L o, y0 o1 m: D+ ~/ jKey Responsibilities Include! d( [- e/ D g3 m" h) f, v$ i
Activity Planning and Daily Activity' ]: a- R5 @5 b5 x: |9 T6 I0 l
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
& Z- Q" q/ }# X! Z2 @$ o( I& H5 D• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
7 i2 d" b" _0 x4 s# Z5 [0 u• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ( Y/ P6 P# H5 A2 G' ?% e
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.. @6 Q) V( R& s" L; i$ w3 n' x; R
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.* D1 i, v$ a; v: }+ g; m
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.2 v5 s$ E5 g# ]) g

The successful candidate will have:
7 R) R! o2 [& F9 p• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting, C/ S% H5 b+ F6 E, o
• Experience with children; W; f% k' N4 b! ]8 B6 B
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth * `) ^. z0 O& L& S% R4 k% H) s& {
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
! t* \# z& Z1 ?9 T! P; t7 x• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented./ B' X% F/ Z1 n! [8 t
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources ^. N* f i, ^0 z& ?! H
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check ! N8 E+ D5 K6 @- n( h$ Y
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 2 s6 d8 \+ D: U; F& d/ R
