Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

0 _5 L$ w1 Y/ X& c, MActivity Planning and Daily Activity( T! p1 J n* E8 t+ M
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
8 t/ T+ P/ y& o6 d# B• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
0 {! W3 F( J* X. l/ p$ ]3 x* s" I• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ' d; w5 G- Q0 Z9 G1 g- t
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
! k1 I9 W2 l; O( ]3 b- g, c• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
! y* o) p" O' E• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.& D. x( f, c+ x; Z2 h4 k

The successful candidate will have:
* n6 h6 u1 z# U0 s1 m• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
0 {$ x& e6 ?+ i8 `+ J! v6 g: }• Experience with children
w4 Y( i$ ]2 s3 |# u! G% u• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 8 D: j( l+ H8 j
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
& b$ l' A% p. \( N' o; R• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.9 y1 a2 y `% @. ^; l
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources! I, t* u6 f! O+ L4 V$ d) e# {7 v$ A8 @
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
; Y u4 G* d/ f" e7 [$ w+ x2 P• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
