FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
5 b" l: Z* o* s" p7 Dsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to $ V7 U: a) y: Z3 ^+ C
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern * V' ^, m/ ^. X8 i" E5 E
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 5 m- _ j/ b4 C. w) v* h
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, f8 B$ a+ M# I$ {and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
& i, }- m2 o7 `- H9 ^resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 6 h3 A1 z7 @" h7 P
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
4 C" L% ^7 W# ~9 o1 k H7 GFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as $ B6 @7 @, g2 H. x1 K2 V
well as the script, magazine and book library. ( n4 p5 Q4 E/ G Y9 U2 t

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 2 n/ | I8 L$ H6 X
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
! {" ^, n0 W2 Y/ P- Implement a catalogue template for future use , R: D. o( U) B) o( Z. y, k
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure 2 v. G p0 V7 |( [8 S
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: % x. r- Y+ X3 S5 L4 J+ r4 I
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
* u0 e8 o0 q7 h! N; _- Strong organizational skills + q- y0 w; Y6 l2 B1 w" w
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
9 G% ]% i; o2 o7 o5 c7 A" F3 Y- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
