FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 6 ^+ R! _( v! N' |1 {) e
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to % g1 N, S* M* x9 H% S4 h
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
; u/ s2 w4 V# U0 O- JAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
+ G) N4 `3 L. T) I5 B7 g3 _emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
8 Z8 Y' p ]) q* T* @3 ~ ~and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " o1 s. _, ^8 p. p+ e5 t0 ^
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
! f- M. k* a+ B3 P- X3 sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern / K1 N$ O, P# r2 q* Z" O& x

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the ) W6 g9 n, e9 h$ B8 F, v8 w
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as 0 g2 Q9 F1 s) [& ]8 ^
well as the script, magazine and book library. ( y. c2 ~$ q1 C1 m+ l

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
2 L; s A8 z$ M- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books 7 r8 D8 A5 K! p# y+ S3 v& z; F
- Implement a catalogue template for future use ( O2 t- f1 O0 t5 P
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
6 B( r% Z/ F- c6 A6 _* [! T- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 4 E2 ^0 u; V2 ^9 H! ?+ ^
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks ( W7 W |$ V8 U5 ?, [ K

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: + m' u# y- P4 U4 U7 M
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 e! q8 L; O) h* O7 ~1 N* e- Strong organizational skills
; Z: T" a% \- P" }3 X+ i- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 7 B. c5 O$ {/ C6 h5 p% i* Y
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal ( S4 S. u# d' s6 v' ^6 ?
- Strong team player abilities
