FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
7 t+ Y/ A" S, f4 C8 [, rsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 ~1 A4 P8 T9 @+ Qemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- {1 o% b5 y0 b' R" ~6 hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. L' b3 r5 N" b' I( mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
0 s; v( J. o0 c$ T) cAlberta.

7 L5 s! |6 M  J/ g/ iJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
4 `5 R4 d" q, t: f8 i9 Y: eFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

8 t& D7 T: S# b, g  t- _9 N1 LDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
  v; x3 k) |- i& d! u- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
6 b& X1 @' @5 y6 {" ~. n- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
9 N! m8 d+ f9 O2 f6 C/ v- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
+ j* b" L; j( P% u' U- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
4 F0 s) s( f( u( Usecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
# `6 d7 q# ^& |; M# u5 X% T- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

7 I7 W( L, |6 `/ N0 P$ h9 s2 NQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
0 V( n; A( r6 }& N- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
7 F- x* T, o3 V- Strong organizational skills
/ T/ T  T7 x3 S3 r6 M- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
4 O  i; v/ c7 T, f3 S1 B5 }4 @  [- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
( l# {0 p$ q9 z- Strong team player abilities
