+ i& l+ Z1 I: Y5 F/ X0 f; f' yFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
  h1 A2 z3 G& ?9 w5 @" Gsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

. C0 t- }  }: o* _FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
  C- p( H+ K4 j# l( Nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
. P6 R) M# `/ A  g/ r% Rand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
3 G& r" {: _5 y% r" {Alberta.

% J; i# s* L( E9 G/ c9 h. zJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
: s5 A6 z6 A' K' w9 Q; f" r- \well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
0 c- L% m, N# }. f* i! w  {- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
9 l$ M5 `3 @' a' y- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
# ]4 F% z6 k" @7 D- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
; Y' C: B7 p6 W7 s- D- t, K2 c- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
. A! Y  F+ g9 O% F' f- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
9 s8 {) ~& h/ ?, R7 F! Csecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

) Q6 {, J5 f# k* VQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
9 a# L9 `/ i* v/ @- t7 q- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
# _& c  w3 L! J/ b- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
. X4 Q+ d5 X3 m- Strong team player abilities
" O# G: m2 U7 s) d" @- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
