FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
; o: ]9 z8 U3 `" A1 k9 Q1 J9 ZAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 U  c# J# u1 y+ V* Jemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

$ i4 p/ x, S) rJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
+ c  W0 ]" x( z+ Q+ [3 h* G" jFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
5 N: s" t$ i5 }! Y( p  Y" ~5 Owell as the script, magazine and book library.

7 b( J6 I4 b0 Y4 O8 H. A+ A# u- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
# Q  b! i; e5 A  W$ z% g$ ?- _- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
, o$ b5 Y2 k; X% L0 Y+ u, O- Implement a catalogue template for future use
, k5 t/ k& O" X  s5 `$ |- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
% M$ U* N6 ?& f1 k: S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
& [' R* h5 }6 C2 qsecondary training, university preferred
! F" h! n) k" w9 I* Y/ n- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
2 s. m9 u( @$ C4 K+ _# B- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
) C9 c  `9 D* v. N5 v# r. t- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors

I have 3 years librarian expeirence in U of A, and believe I can fit in this postion perfectly.
