FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
6 i8 X2 T/ Z! c! r4 ~summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
) g  m7 s3 W8 n& s0 C# fsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
) o( ]1 R" S) L: h. {! p0 v6 fAlberta.

# X+ [2 |# Z- M8 N* {FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
1 q! H) j+ j; e: j5 ^- _! ~. Uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
' z. j6 B! Y* s: X$ s; g3 j% eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
3 N$ I: ?* K; h" ?( c7 ~screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

8 P3 `5 F/ y5 sJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
. Y9 J/ G7 M$ j; M% S- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
; w0 m& f1 v( t7 `+ A) K6 v% c- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
