FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
4 e5 e9 J' x) x& x1 f7 I! x* a$ w& \summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
* D: r( w0 S! C+ _$ U9 xsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern 9 m! _4 `/ m p% o
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 7 C! U& i0 N" R
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ! \8 P, K- f( N+ K: N! `
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 8 R ~* Q/ L' k3 W3 `# q8 ^
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and J7 N3 }8 v# H/ T$ A! M
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern % K$ A/ r1 F; A) r: u( A

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
0 V( K7 D9 z4 K. z& z/ UFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as , R7 h1 O1 A- E4 ~0 ~1 S3 w1 T
well as the script, magazine and book library.

8 W. P2 N/ ^& o9 G- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library ' j q$ T) b" c: z4 }
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. `# K. j( F9 O4 p0 O8 k z8 ^5 ^. E- Implement a catalogue template for future use 0 ^2 f- p) e& J+ W& l' g
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
5 F$ h" k9 T1 T- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 9 Q$ w$ K; V* E. o) ~

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

secondary training, university preferred

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
$ ?6 D7 s; d1 d" P" I; i3 t& p# N3 h- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ' G) q/ j7 Q! P9 h* v- T
- Strong organizational skills
) e$ O! @2 w+ ?9 u @& p8 x- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 9 n' Y1 n: V) h7 l
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal & m9 N2 P; @4 R6 ^
- Strong team player abilities 7 I8 j" ^; i+ p6 h: g/ K$ x: e/ C0 M
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
