! o% I, r& O4 k% m( O% T4 w+ lFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
' Q- `0 I: V0 \) A4 p3 d; Rsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
; s! Y  M8 X8 e- osupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
5 N0 \0 M1 g  H' P3 `/ H! s3 mAlberta.

9 s! c& j# |) lFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; ^& c: z/ t7 |emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
) _. J- \! b3 `$ J5 U4 J8 g, x- bFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

6 }2 T$ {7 L3 x  k! qDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
4 g- X8 G+ W3 L$ B- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

8 h: {/ X+ b! x$ |! f! \0 n- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
: P& c7 e# P+ D1 o. `! g  u- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
$ S; x+ ?6 H  A1 K' \- I# bsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
* F- j8 K% o1 ]) o! I- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
# r' N2 h. y2 s3 w% {. C- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
