FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
9 ~1 c- f3 Q  z7 Esupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
! F7 P/ i, h* OAlberta.

3 ~  G+ `- |5 M1 m1 a$ N3 oFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
. m4 ?! i! n# g: g1 xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ G- m* L) |" U7 l7 ^and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
2 L& R5 F% g3 C# Qresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
5 G9 _. w$ v8 ?" [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
0 z/ i0 F8 _3 s: ZAlberta.

7 V  x- @  x7 E! qJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
* }7 X. \) K4 _9 Dwell as the script, magazine and book library.

0 A# ^+ Q% l. V" e9 Z; s- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
3 K# O! \0 j3 V7 D0 T- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
5 S$ B+ U: [  i3 T! A- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
1 h; D8 p! d: {" B. y+ ^, V- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
) v* F' p1 \" F* `2 }& w- Strong team player abilities
" u6 o1 m( B- ?0 ^1 M: p- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
