FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
% [" ?4 J" \/ f& R) N& RAlberta.

% A8 x) z# P& ^- E" TFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
/ p( n1 \" u+ [9 X7 B9 o$ s' Lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
3 `! m! X  f1 F* Aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
: R$ U. S. v) `% w, Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
/ l5 f7 `9 E. a% Y( z6 M% ?# H/ GFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
$ ]3 |8 n' `' i9 j$ M- G  q' awell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. d; z( A3 m5 ?7 V$ p& K- Implement a catalogue template for future use
9 o* l( Q7 l- q- N- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

(STEP)
6 J8 n/ Q/ {4 X5 s  F( Y- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
. |# S. L7 D, @8 C) D0 u2 _secondary training, university preferred
( s" w6 _; k! i8 o$ T$ |! m0 ?) e% |" c- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
( D' z; G9 e7 G4 O6 x* q! U- Strong organizational skills
; D- z9 v+ S% ?3 ~- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
$ x7 C+ G# W( x  S! \* }7 e- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
