* `2 L3 A  G: X) ~FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

: t1 \5 t1 o9 W, WFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
/ Q3 M/ j6 `, ?4 F! Xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
- j' b, c' ?$ y# Y! @% q, [, H" S1 _and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
, z( V- `, c: B' m% ~Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
7 H: {" z. P1 X+ C3 }( v9 [FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
8 b3 R" i7 j" y- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
5 F( K, E3 T( ^+ j: E7 j; ~9 {- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
0 J& M* n  I4 L2 s9 C- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
