FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
3 P3 s% d6 v$ s& nsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
- ]7 v! u/ M2 z8 y  M- I  \( rAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
/ F4 b: q% T& p4 X% b, s& cemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
1 ?; _% w& L' s, `9 [well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
( v  E! r2 `  t) u7 ^% @4 T- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. e$ G5 O' m& A; i) d- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
1 Y; K4 I6 _  p- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
- p! b5 }4 s) `" i% C( T(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) ^( p, r* d, H1 f- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
  r6 p* X6 Q) b& F/ E1 o- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
  }; q& Y- ]# E! Z  t8 U- Strong organizational skills
8 f$ U- T2 N: z9 q7 E: L1 H+ `- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
5 O+ R. ~4 W* q% e  C( t- Strong team player abilities
' {9 W8 F& J5 D; T" }- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
