FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 4 L: k% x' d8 \( g% ?8 U1 T. s, l
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
$ C p4 \6 ], P$ f! jsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern 3 J9 M- f$ a8 z
Alberta.

( {* ]$ D; S" j# _, B( VFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from , V5 s' p0 u! G- ]3 x- S0 Q5 r; m5 R- p( j
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ! ~& X+ N2 ?0 k* v6 u
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a - c1 o4 ?' \, a- N/ l" u5 t# m; l
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 0 U9 m# @" D4 l) ], c! K
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

1 c) u8 T% t7 h- X' L% J7 NJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the u- l( c6 C+ S& Y% i5 q5 H% q( N& J
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
) ?; o/ T( P7 {& i9 [well as the script, magazine and book library. ' u6 [5 A) P' `+ C0 z
5 l( h( r; [5 B1 z
Duties: , _2 f% H5 X- N/ b6 O
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library S2 m9 f* W4 L7 u* ~7 L
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books : l* O- o5 s2 U/ m& b: m
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
) u/ e q) u5 R# q, Z. t1 U# l- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure ; l1 o9 p5 j4 u
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
; U; m4 q' y/ _8 c- ]7 ~ : Y' I2 A5 D+ w' B/ I# S

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
8 W0 e! F: d% v- I4 ~( n0 Y- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts . y: }9 t3 b8 B6 b* a
- Strong organizational skills 1 v% T8 g8 l/ j9 Q9 z* G; x
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 6 V: q4 i2 u' M$ c Q1 d0 f
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
