FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
; f- Y) H. W0 F5 xsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
3 l6 P9 l; r$ kAlberta.

) v. w7 y5 y" @* g# f' @4 QFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

7 h; e& M) G5 \Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
* d$ ?- P& K$ M2 f4 R7 V  XFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

' R1 s3 w  p0 X! `; v9 _Duties:
3 N5 L; W- Z" t) T- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
: H% _3 W6 o% A6 s! q- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

; y' }- e9 `5 {5 r- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

" @" d- _3 }% `4 oQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
, F3 S$ y: t  a# Y# M/ u- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
