. g7 }& ^; l5 z6 S& F) hFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
" X4 H" {6 u& u0 o8 wsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
$ `! ~" Q9 _. m% p9 [4 AAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
6 [  }; Q) l# _, x  K5 Bscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
8 S/ r* C3 X# Nwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
% @( ~4 M& D- a) |8 D1 w; c- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
, C# f7 A& \7 i. K, r& @4 _- Implement a catalogue template for future use
2 b/ }, `. a2 y8 c- i) t9 p" g- {- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
' B9 J7 M+ u. L$ S* h5 P1 h- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
3 K  I; N* I! a; t- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
# g) x; S" S+ H/ [( p" `2 I8 psecondary training, university preferred
- w  ~' r. f$ r5 e- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
) j4 {* O! ?  S# Q  N6 E) T4 t- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
% [7 g) `! z/ T3 |- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
0 L: R3 q! Q' R$ o$ o- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
( P+ z! Y1 K% o- k- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
