FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
; x' ~0 l3 M. V$ A0 K2 _summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
0 g- a/ f$ i: a$ R$ ^support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

  b  r' _/ L3 ^# ?4 GFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 @5 l2 Q' g' X5 X- z! w! g: i( q: Uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
, g; e) A0 c3 J: nscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

2 P& ]% a7 Q; \+ u5 K6 PDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
2 b# `+ o$ O- L8 Q- o- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. ?7 V/ y' q; q1 O- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

% ]' s8 Z7 h* R3 X, e- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
8 z1 s2 [0 J! R" f3 Q5 M- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

4 O& q$ e- S; HQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
/ n( i2 D; E* h  g5 V- Strong organizational skills
! i  O$ c' t/ [" }" w$ \- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
