FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
# V0 b& p4 `4 U+ G1 Usummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
) C$ Z7 m+ U0 O$ J( Ksupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
; T/ D/ j# D7 l" Y( {* |Alberta.

( a/ @; \% N0 r" \5 M1 O7 tFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 _2 D( v% f% |1 `* H! T- x2 u; iemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
1 C' r7 Y6 I$ t. ]- O0 N2 X0 jFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
1 l. y+ o4 s. d0 z& W( }- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
; n* F# B) F8 @2 @6 J- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
* w% P* N+ j. n7 Z) k% F- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
# b/ t' L* v9 v9 i1 A- `$ c. s% b- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
