+ H' g, N- a# H2 _. a  A- JFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
9 U, f# H% ~  ?* K( bsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) i. s- N' _5 c8 b7 mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: o' S3 w% _: o0 Q' L+ \$ AAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
0 t' g' W5 {# ?* h* h: ]FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
" G, n) O! b; v4 F3 X% p- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
) B7 Y. U; c7 k3 N- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
0 ^) ]* m3 d( [/ |, p( b2 N- }! D- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
; B0 V, Y" _" \) @" msecondary training, university preferred
% h! g+ j  s7 j0 B! e' H7 _- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
: a; {" g8 r: w7 h* p8 q( t: D- Strong organizational skills
! B! t1 }) l# k1 u' N1 d7 H4 u- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
) C0 u$ H% r2 z  F' e$ |- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
