FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the + D! _% z+ j' Y9 c4 u" X
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 4 E7 F& v4 ~7 G) D) Z5 P: m3 i
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern 9 O1 j) ?3 p1 d/ {! c$ i! D1 K2 j- n% L

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% q. i" C- a. D9 q$ T9 Femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video , k0 f1 v! f( ^& J5 o
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
: x# Y: N8 Y! c3 Y7 _5 g% Eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and / q, F' k4 L D& s. G
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
- N7 S2 O. c5 JFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
G( G5 T/ ^7 j* S, o; j- ^well as the script, magazine and book library. 8 |. n' D& \4 L0 ^" v6 b7 Z

Duties: * l: j4 k7 a$ L
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
6 _* w4 g h$ O) U- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
3 i7 a7 G7 G7 Z" n7 [$ Y; ~" R- Implement a catalogue template for future use / I' q- N7 l$ l8 V! C0 U e
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure + s) y( y; z) ?' b G
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
" ]) W" Y& G: [; V$ Ksecondary training, university preferred 7 Y8 \* R6 t: P
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week $ ^: ?* ^& F4 E6 h4 j2 V
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
7 N, Y( @% z& L$ M- g# X" R! _$ o1 A- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- q" R& j5 h$ u8 O- Strong organizational skills ; H7 i: f, H1 L# R: A# u% d
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 0 z$ R$ ]$ w. r2 l" n( q8 ~
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal d5 F+ ` Y' Z3 K
- Strong team player abilities
4 ]- j: c0 M" L9 a3 G/ X- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
