. \- I' v8 \9 wFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the ( Y9 I% f8 L9 L3 |/ w& K
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to " a+ Y H0 [' T5 W; S
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ' n5 _8 a3 Q; [+ Y- B1 \( B
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ( o# l" E# h2 M0 \4 d4 _7 B. D
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
: f3 ^5 [8 }2 a4 a0 {0 I8 Z4 Rresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and & ~$ q, S& |2 u8 R; m; J
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
3 g7 L* U( K. R% eFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as ! q4 b( O1 `( y, W: v' Y1 ?
well as the script, magazine and book library. . ^" T; ]! {) G" l

Duties:
6 ?! P. `* Q3 H- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
& V) A1 J, ^4 J: a. U8 {8 U- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books % ~7 L0 }. i2 H# i1 e* P' ]
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
/ Y9 B7 }! q* H/ \- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure 1 w. v. x& h; u, z7 K
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ( Z3 _& i2 |6 v* s; L2 y4 j( R" r- P1 p

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program % M8 {9 f1 `% a9 M

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-: i" V) ?8 w# a2 C8 G4 k0 Y
secondary training, university preferred

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

$ i. w- N0 P: [( \' w& f4 i- Strong organizational skills 4 T& V+ I( J4 r0 W
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 5 i. |4 q3 g0 D: ]/ \ w
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal : k: i! Z; Q l
- Strong team player abilities
