- a' {0 W' X- R1 H0 p1 N/ QFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
. N2 @* ]* x2 nsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
6 J4 i' ~. g9 `( i& dsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

# `! v4 X* C& t: D" SFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
  H+ m+ h/ u2 k" ?( g. @8 ^& \8 h% ^emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ E! M( q2 G+ Z( ?and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  w( g/ E8 u' w" oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
" F/ J" u  P7 O% \! M% T( x; ?Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
' z+ F0 Z' A  }( q' i/ r- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
$ R6 t1 [8 X/ k, \" i- Implement a catalogue template for future use
0 T3 j1 i1 x( v- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
/ \1 B7 s4 q9 T- N8 H4 x- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
0 Q5 Q/ r/ @# ^% X' Y- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
/ [- s3 D3 y& o/ w+ b6 Dsecondary training, university preferred
4 `% `2 ^: ~9 Y$ l2 q9 ]9 ^- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
/ Z  N& a  {& i3 H4 Q$ b- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
6 R7 \! A! @- @# L- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
' E& i3 j) }6 A$ N* ?- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
4 G4 H& y  f8 q, T- Strong team player abilities
1 q+ n( P0 ~8 B$ j+ w- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
