FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
: ^1 [4 q# q$ J* }- hAlberta.

- z3 \" B* ?' f0 tFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# I. O  W& E' [) H6 Pemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
4 l9 v* [4 Y* h; m6 Uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
. c. X* q1 t3 s$ V; ?. x% }resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
0 k0 p- o; V  w2 Tscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
$ A$ m8 Z. y2 B+ \* l  XAlberta.

& l$ k. M- R& O4 E' GJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
8 [1 M/ R: Q- t6 TFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

9 G! O! D; R3 P# ^1 _% S* v1 ZDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
3 g: s# c, l. T" {- Implement a catalogue template for future use
2 Y! k; s9 w" h- J$ B) U; _- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
4 `) q& U1 K# m5 i) c) N! ?- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
( g- e# U7 V& g- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& `! M' k' R% l7 K' M. i  p- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
" t6 J& ]  |7 c# V  F  p0 O# N) D- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
2 X/ j' ^0 X2 t- s( p6 X- Strong organizational skills
( }& J- a! t  _- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
