Organization:    Film & Video Arts Society- Alberta (FAVA)

FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
  k1 n( _9 y, L8 `/ g. B* Gsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

% f. w9 \# z/ N) W0 [FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 D) N) s; q4 V; I+ ^# w4 uemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  S8 b1 O3 X" x; \6 Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

1 C) `$ U9 l% p% p! k1 kJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

) B% g$ T0 a: q$ SDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

# ~* a# z8 m+ b1 s  u- ~- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
* Z- h3 M  w3 ]8 i( A8 K- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
0 [: @& Y$ g7 _- x0 [- K- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
3 N2 N( {% s9 H  U  n( h- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
. u0 ^% A; j8 g. E" _7 g" E- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
