FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
: G4 S+ I- z# S" ^support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

' C; F# _' O5 t1 J0 PFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 i8 q: N5 c6 H. [emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
0 @+ Q& D- Y: t5 i) b1 q. x, TFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
+ c" \$ {: {) T- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
& u* }! f* V3 P9 ^$ b, k5 z2 v- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
7 _3 y! l' _! S3 u1 v$ e" C0 P- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
: D- C6 ?8 _- C/ }# c9 A& x- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
% B, L2 r; i2 O) ~% @7 C1 z+ G6 @- Strong organizational skills
! A# V: L6 e" n$ N- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
6 }+ t; h+ a, l2 I, T; Q- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
