1 {6 m. y, l1 {# IFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
5 w' {+ Q( z3 e* ]summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
  H' j; J* ~4 k4 O5 b/ W+ X2 Usupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.
, Z% i+ q( b8 R5 x, P' p* }
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 u5 d. o9 E! C; N1 Gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
. u) d+ j9 I$ ~; h6 \and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 q$ D  X  f  P$ Bresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

7 H: x3 \8 I8 {9 ^' [6 M$ WJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
1 `+ O: ^5 T+ GFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
  U) |$ m; s  z- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
* P& [1 z0 E; o' r4 ~! z- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
) b  h# B# S+ x- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

0 t6 n9 z$ @* a; l/ i' G+ X" F2 u- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
1 k' }$ X0 X) @( qsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

% ?& X# a, w- w! {- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
7 \5 d2 e+ ~" X; D& x+ S- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
