FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
; |8 _) Y! \: d5 n& k8 m* p- qsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 D9 n( e+ }  |emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% P) Q9 j8 v- I5 q  t+ eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( h% J7 V2 a4 ~9 H) Z7 ?screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
! D8 m0 P1 _4 I8 Z  h0 x+ Ewell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
/ m4 e9 q' G& {. W: p) \3 {- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
* u* {: ]; b* i2 x$ W& @: K* w0 P6 N- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
, S9 J+ |. ~) b6 O; g- Implement a catalogue template for future use
1 p% Q6 g8 {/ W  O5 `* z- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
1 n# T7 a% e8 Q2 q# A! |- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
2 k1 l0 w0 m, h4 Ysecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& I1 c( d6 W) g1 p1 M- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
