FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
. o$ ]; l+ x. K+ G4 K) ^summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
* }. X( W: q. OAlberta.

& E8 I' Q( d2 ?: Z1 p: ]  qFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 ^6 w/ i4 a$ q8 r* f. m5 Kemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
! F- i& W. }/ P7 Kand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
4 _: z+ Y+ B' ]4 \resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& L: F6 R6 l9 L3 M* z( D$ Oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
% L5 f, h; m* S. Mwell as the script, magazine and book library.

; Z8 c& Z1 I% k# V- E* B2 xDuties:
3 m5 d( z0 m  O3 w$ k- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
6 Z; w' s" i: Y& Z- o- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
  t. F7 _; S& s3 V  ~& I. X6 d- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
8 e1 t4 o) T- Q' Ssecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 C# h' m. |9 g3 I, K( G. l- Strong organizational skills
8 {, d+ ^, O, C8 J2 @- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
) \0 m" z: i' J8 p+ |+ y$ S- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
