) I5 N" Z: d- ^/ a* g' `' |5 _( LFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.
: p% C8 Z5 Q+ ^  Q# `& ^
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
& |( F6 D+ C; c- v+ |and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
6 M+ E* ~" }+ w0 j) i" s* ?Alberta.

$ w6 Y9 @5 U* {" f- ~* _Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
1 J3 I$ F2 _) `4 w3 x$ p0 mFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

. u+ t8 V+ a  a0 f4 i- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
. y$ _5 m9 T" Q' s/ l% m4 ^- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
; ]  i. q& I5 g* i- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
- H% }- P( m0 o" H(STEP)
- e; G7 Q0 e2 M. ^$ s- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& ?% I  y  D$ N- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

( o6 H+ Y% ^/ S2 k* O- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
" U2 M' A$ B. O- Strong team player abilities
( \& Y! x5 W4 I$ `  H- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
