FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
) R4 ` j7 b* G' ?, l1 xsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to : v; V! \- A* U$ J2 ?1 |
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
7 C$ R& T1 @6 FAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
6 ^( R8 w) ]5 ]3 n' n/ _: C6 oemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video . L) J% ?' O# w
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a - g2 h# K4 \, e9 M0 O
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and : E8 Q3 q% g, D; J, ?
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern " d# h( U' v) R

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the + l8 C2 ]( v R; C3 l
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
. j( {4 x3 H) Z3 i8 F. Y3 Zwell as the script, magazine and book library. & f5 |$ F Z" \7 [

9 ^$ R( k- h2 ^, Q: A( \* x3 B9 E- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library , X. E B* K* R
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books 9 b' O" d! r, C; K
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- o$ y2 O D+ L' j1 z% s- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
7 S5 j1 n' Q, h( I& v4 x8 q/ ], U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable " V* K- i! w- h$ _& F

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
* u1 b9 I W% T. B5 m/ wsecondary training, university preferred

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
$ U% h0 y: i# H& |- \9 i# @- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
* [' X* b6 {8 q- Strong organizational skills 3 e: w, {- }& O+ R7 I( o$ ?
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
5 t5 }; S; y5 q/ ^3 U/ n% {- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ' _# Y0 w- t3 U( N( S: i
