6 C  ]; G7 R9 y6 [FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
, P4 W3 _( p- P1 ~0 Tsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
8 v* m: ]+ \7 Q9 u6 F% f. Tsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.
% r9 G+ D  I! L
9 n6 K7 C* f& p3 j3 L) RFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
+ }* o, K9 R0 Remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
" f' |  `% A! Z, W: L) ^and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( z# y2 I# P; |- v3 ]5 lscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
; h0 r" u5 K' v* X6 [1 f6 zFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
6 z0 A$ t- L2 I/ u3 C3 o& l% nwell as the script, magazine and book library.

' i" T; v4 `! Y" ]9 p; KDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
" y9 m" H) i/ Z5 d8 q% q1 t- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
/ q; C/ G, ^0 B& t( L- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
0 e8 V( O# `8 |" x5 }- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
; ]  q5 Q: g5 c5 M, z- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

+ Z# e) z( z# [5 e- jQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
: j- H) Y+ n- m1 y- Strong organizational skills
- K* F3 P0 U# c- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
* G: o8 X* U2 u- R0 E% ~$ Z0 _4 B( P- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
( \7 Q# p: j4 z- x  m- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
