. M% G  b* \8 TFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
5 q3 C+ @- K* i2 m( h7 U- o4 Ysummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
# d4 G0 r$ `+ r+ d6 CAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
8 v( }, O# L' I9 e- I% }# \and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# h' o6 P% g, Wresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

3 x% Y' ^% ~, V# s5 e5 ~Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

* E- Q) X# i1 a. O, o- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
! I$ R6 [; i1 y; H- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Z/ p% {6 S& d- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
1 O* a/ F- g9 Q# }8 r- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
( J' ?# g* k: B( ]" b5 I- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
( n- R1 Q$ ?. n- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
) |: R! O) Q  h% Q. `- G5 r- C+ _- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
; _. X5 r2 j1 A0 v- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
, A3 `7 D8 _/ ?! H& \4 c  N' E- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
