FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
9 ~' I9 H8 A0 c+ T+ n- W0 M1 |summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
/ h3 T3 A/ F: qsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

, U+ E) c( n$ q4 X% t" a5 a, E3 YFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 z7 e5 M: D' C# z0 b# temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
/ s8 K1 p$ L& t4 Y; t2 Qand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 h1 k( R9 F7 g2 {+ b! mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

4 C1 C2 g# w+ N% u) {# sJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- u5 W8 N- v" t) U- Implement a catalogue template for future use
, X# x  x5 ]- b1 R% k. r7 w- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
# h8 q  @2 c* A2 n4 h, o- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
& D, y* U# Q" v0 k7 f& F# hsecondary training, university preferred
. ]9 U% e' |- c# v# K- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
" M5 M+ c) T/ W3 o6 M7 r' b- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
' H7 S; g4 o$ s3 e9 G$ E4 @- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
3 ?& l- i3 ~  k; o. _- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
