FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
8 q# B0 z6 O# S4 k5 K, o9 J  m+ lsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
3 T3 j1 B9 g# H7 h( N# q- Asupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
6 \# f  j$ H8 u- K. p2 |0 EAlberta.

2 E0 S; f) Q9 a' w6 y1 I' a  U+ SFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
: g4 N6 }% }) H. {8 }% [  U- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
* F! g1 e4 u% P- Implement a catalogue template for future use
, n) g5 p  |3 R& U/ l% G# V+ L9 ^- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
1 P  c7 w4 D2 L5 ~4 M( r- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
9 X" N3 Y; Z; N- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
