FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 6 O5 Z% d( x! l. q3 N- z
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
n# k- _/ L# h. rsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern ' U. Q( M5 {. A1 z& i

. R9 U$ z: y4 W* a \FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from % u9 b9 R% E3 D6 c6 U6 F& \, q
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ) ~+ t9 D+ y( v9 z* ^; b
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
* d" M b1 J) E* }resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ `0 g( p5 Z" j, O6 _( h. Rscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

8 Z; J, X2 b/ O3 m! d t9 K3 TJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
; l) x# O0 Y' v( R1 Z! {FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as 2 a; t4 h3 S& p
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
! v4 Q8 [3 s! i, B" D- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 7 r8 Z. _ |- z7 C+ @9 g
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
, \/ B6 D* O @ _& K- Implement a catalogue template for future use 5 T0 V: _1 |, j' r' e% M& e7 E
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
* Q& d; }& s- k, p7 u( y. B* Q$ S, r8 I; w- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable : g" ^8 [6 u2 y9 }1 g: e* `$ t- t

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-% d0 ]" s0 t, P2 S& v! f

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week $ R" A/ y& D% {, _; a& m* z
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks {5 Q0 y! |: ^6 |, [- q

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: * R. Y/ b9 I# b& Q
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 9 P2 |0 y d. ~& |# Z
- Strong organizational skills
) [0 A. i7 G U$ g- Experience or training in library sciences preferred ) f. J! u+ w% ?
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal ' d" [% |" B. o) S9 w$ V( I1 K

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
