FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
; F6 m  Q2 c# U- usummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
* W; p- J& {% }2 z8 PAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( S9 L/ B  W0 G  X  v1 y& escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
- A& V! b; H1 ]# GFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
8 J/ x% P7 ?; J! b/ b" O' A! I& ywell as the script, magazine and book library.

$ k: L' r3 p4 Y0 n5 q+ l) e1 rDuties:
5 c7 w6 K/ m+ \4 t" Z2 K) M2 E- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- I& X( R1 u# T& c" P3 F' [- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
+ Y# {: {" b$ g. T2 b(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts

, r$ Q+ l) W8 }9 @- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
