FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
5 a' I* a$ q4 x: j: k2 Ksupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

" y3 \6 o# c; F5 @0 f1 dFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
; e6 v0 h4 n+ k0 ]screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
+ Y4 C4 i4 ?/ T7 m. g; `/ cAlberta.

' k+ l& Z, z! hJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
7 R3 b+ `! R* W- E( k$ ~$ s% b$ P- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
* D; u- X) t/ o0 Z% c- Implement a catalogue template for future use
2 ]: o3 d2 B8 b4 N/ l- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
1 P5 y; [  z9 `8 ^- m- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
$ V( V8 y$ R+ o) O5 [- b- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
$ a+ [5 @5 ?3 X3 x% i- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
: E* X" s2 @2 W1 k6 }- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

" B: o4 p2 }' G; `) S- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
) E; C- f3 I: _) [( w% `0 y- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
6 U  E1 u' f5 M- w) t. F- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
