FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
# ^8 p4 F# O) F8 }! r8 |9 Nsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
6 \# V' p; o: t7 e  I7 fAlberta.

! y: _* `1 S4 c% }, iFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 Z6 V  g0 R4 r& ]( l6 x- {emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
2 i1 a$ v7 `4 l) n1 r# Vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- }$ |2 \5 _0 [# Y) uscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
4 V/ i" Y- n" P0 z, xAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
, J; }- b5 I" \8 Z1 n' Wwell as the script, magazine and book library.

' n' P3 {; n( Y! u: U- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
. ?% ]4 |# C/ R7 z( a* S- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
! u% `/ w: {6 E. Q, S2 m1 E- Implement a catalogue template for future use
# n3 i: T& d/ o# |  ]( C- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
) L6 c- A0 ?/ b) ~9 K8 c
Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
" }2 l8 d  B  B: y- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
