FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
) V. f) b2 c8 `) R0 C+ D% _summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to ( W- k) @: R4 R
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern 1 G5 T& V( j9 k! X4 L( n
Alberta.

- W( b3 D. `- KFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
1 P& G- o1 s& r& M9 [" qemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
# d' c5 O: D7 e! Land media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a # P2 q( H, f0 ^! J# S
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ' P, z: n8 I e9 V7 q4 o+ P
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern & e1 ]1 h5 v) [2 K4 i6 B. f

) r( H3 l: J$ p0 ^, [Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the 8 b7 @! A( P) O+ y
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
( S& d6 `" e/ Y: rwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: % Z$ U: t$ w4 a% O: N2 j: x9 J
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
& P" p4 c- b+ O9 J, M: X H- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books ' z! I3 `4 |. k$ O4 I
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
0 P, J y5 b- Y! l* r1 f2 u" w- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
5 @1 J! L9 ~8 Q) L# E Y" S7 w% @ l- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 7 b9 Y3 v! {0 P# _9 X& t7 ]' n' s

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: O8 W# H' P5 B2 f
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 1 T6 D, h: I$ \4 `( H, Z) E% }
- Strong organizational skills
9 h+ u% o: _/ |6 N% x! j- Experience or training in library sciences preferred

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
