FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
+ r1 h3 @3 d; a7 m* ?" c! P; msupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

4 x: `& U, ^( z- W2 b4 E! |FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* H% P7 Y3 t$ }screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

* G& |/ ~6 Q" G; }8 g! n, U$ xJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

/ e6 E2 M' J( {; u% l9 g3 `+ c; PDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
2 o% P, q' T! ^7 j& i4 J9 @5 [- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
* L0 H' x3 B& U. @% R- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
. ]' L- [: b) z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
" _  S: Q. d) J; e* O- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
0 y; b( |' u6 Zsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

$ m5 W7 S4 S6 b* Y; j$ S- BQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
: z3 M  W5 |, \: _# A1 v- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& }$ e- o& Y5 L- Strong organizational skills
/ q# e# H4 m1 t* D- Experience or training in library sciences preferred

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
