FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
8 p* {, b" y- csummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
6 M  j7 R! j6 ]) Qsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 p3 d) l& g) t* Femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) l+ v0 W. w& a( ]4 Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& E, ?1 T0 u% d6 Z4 b" K$ {screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
2 v: r9 E# t$ |* vAlberta.

* e/ m/ u+ s( j# e% k2 i: i6 cJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
0 S  h, {* N# rwell as the script, magazine and book library.

! k2 Q/ P6 h8 j2 ^4 v( j! ZDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
+ ~% y5 y0 i7 u& ?8 O- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. |, D6 Q8 c/ T  a5 \- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
& q& T2 B/ z5 W) l3 {2 U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
) u3 N; T+ W7 [1 y$ K" x4 S(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
: l  I- n6 D2 u# K2 q' |- }secondary training, university preferred
; W; r/ @* I" D( l# n. j3 d" X- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
/ N, o$ f( `. f- o7 q) t* o" C2 P9 a- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
5 ~+ N2 V# }' C  F# ]3 [# ]- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
( F: \; h$ F7 w. Q9 d: B' d/ m! I! c- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
+ c% R, q) v, ~* j; K  G- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
