FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
6 r) C( c/ ]6 Z3 h% f6 Z" tsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
! E0 U  K. w* u0 G" Z/ ]Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
/ f  m% ^$ e5 Xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- Z* h9 d: M3 z7 B# t! Y( tresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
3 P! N: @  Y0 _$ z, f% A7 tscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
& ^: a$ k) a& s; H' D- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
# X$ a; B( N5 L$ t: ~1 o- Implement a catalogue template for future use
! `7 X; w* L( j, n+ @" e' f- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
) c' Z0 L4 I2 y(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
: W# D. f$ }" J& E- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

' T6 q) ]* C  d% IQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
" b' ~( L# g& X! ^4 ~% G- Strong organizational skills
' G3 P$ o2 r; q( \) |  [4 u$ p  m- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
  q. B  b- i; V" v4 D( h- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
