FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
4 q, K K9 B+ t! S, A( k0 ~# }- vsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to : E$ [' F4 t$ X5 L& x
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
: e4 j8 M2 ^" q, fAlberta.
' O1 T0 R, a# Y& U J" Q6 K2 I6 h * t( d( A- m& H& h1 }* V" N
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 m; Q0 k" b8 K8 H4 N8 j$ E% V: Vemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
/ q" g* ` H! W) I9 `and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
' @" J/ Q0 z: N( N7 U$ o4 o( xresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 0 v- F* n4 Q2 P/ D4 u
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 0 l: U$ U* L" L* F
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the ! F. j" d3 P! E A( D2 I
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as . y6 m' V2 X7 p9 x5 g
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 2 c0 ^3 `& n6 h% P- v. Q
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
$ A) @% H4 g' Y- Implement a catalogue template for future use $ X& @6 A3 P/ O D9 E+ c
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure 8 E6 m( `8 a3 b; B2 D* Z' @
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training, university preferred

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
6 E* Y7 `. c8 n6 n% y) o' X- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
: J+ d0 f9 G+ m. t! j& H' P4 x- Strong organizational skills
, h# b( N+ K6 ]& v; f6 {- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
. g. ? T( N, e) _/ }. l- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal ; H* q$ s) T& x% \* ~
- Strong team player abilities
