. ?1 v, J- ~! I" |' `. `FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
7 {  |1 Y; @# Jsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
8 U% c, g$ D. O" m0 Msupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, U. k- T7 X/ z2 T5 K' A( Hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
+ A! p! O) q: j" U* B9 |, Vscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

; |" [& Z$ n; |' Z3 W0 fJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
3 Y) `; c6 h7 e* N$ X* ?2 `4 I- kwell as the script, magazine and book library.

$ E/ a4 l( j6 I% Q, r8 X- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
/ p) M3 p4 u/ X- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
: K0 ^6 x; w( @' N; g, F$ @- d0 N- Implement a catalogue template for future use
2 j4 Q5 f; j- a; u& d. j& @- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
. v/ k. \  v" t: N1 R! ^4 @$ {5 e% C, R- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

4 F4 }! U: ]! w* p( S  @- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
2 A8 n# _/ L8 h' c7 r3 N- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
( E' E. X8 V7 k! A3 X2 Y% c- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
8 h3 z( I/ r, k4 G8 D$ L$ n9 p- Strong team player abilities
' }/ h; {: z8 ]: I- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
