FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 1 K4 O( r+ Q2 z% Z5 X! u/ z4 e& b
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 2 z; S+ B+ i$ I+ Z7 k! [2 K
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern " ^+ D/ `3 ^; ^# D3 A
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
0 v3 s' o7 M# f1 @& X" I4 W, ]emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
# I) b/ a+ M1 X- Cand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 H4 o f2 }$ ]! N, c" s
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ! u" q/ D/ A, B) g! }
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

& w& M) d7 t- W2 ^$ u6 {% s) ]Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
) f! j# z$ }; P- b4 ?. m: `5 bFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as 5 r# t: }/ k# g1 Y# H) e: d
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: 9 H ]( D6 j% y9 G
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library & P9 F& _2 o" q; k$ r
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books 6 Q W Y; N( m. T/ A1 L
- Implement a catalogue template for future use : A" }. ]2 y1 |4 V Q; G2 M/ Q7 r
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
+ X* x1 V+ V* Q& C5 m1 H, k; I+ [* B- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts

- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
