FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
* s0 A. x- w* g- F" fsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
; L" Y9 w* ?+ t% x* g! Z9 B! Usupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

2 j- o' ?- c$ ]4 u" CFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
4 M  B, t+ t5 Y) `3 aand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
" V4 {. t3 G9 b3 ^& `$ v0 Qresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
! \5 c9 M/ B3 QAlberta.

3 ^2 Y6 @4 o3 p+ rJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
4 M8 d5 }: W, ^FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.
& o) ^) C1 S, N/ j: V* c" s
Duties:
0 v. a  S) Q# I- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
# b' m; o$ _6 p1 h5 o& i- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
* E' H8 S5 I2 u- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
: `7 R! ~/ a  l# [/ [2 c8 Csecondary training, university preferred
2 O# g+ v. w5 T4 o3 j* b- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

; c$ y9 g& f% ZQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
9 ~( f4 R- I1 A2 ]7 o, ^- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
# t# L# e  |9 o0 v* t# G- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
; e, c* f  e* k% T- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
