FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
& w0 Q: d' d3 u: d* n1 l6 Hsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
/ O& o1 Q3 e- O2 N! w1 m( x2 zAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 h* {! `  N4 X( J7 s" zemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
$ s1 Q, K  R, U4 cAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
7 @) s; u7 H# }& o# @1 M1 N- JFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
( U' m: l2 ]0 T. Y- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
$ A! Q4 p0 N5 K. U- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
# S) O! l, j" w* o% Z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
. s8 N8 i. j# v+ d  {1 I- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
