FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the ) i( W8 e/ C+ ^! j7 E
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
& z, H6 t9 ?% f/ x7 m* e4 [support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
' e8 Z( M8 j- t: Y5 ^* oAlberta. 6 U" y" {3 J, @3 N5 R0 s

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
* u8 u: J! d, V* |* pemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ~/ B. [; |/ g9 E
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
3 Y% ? W7 j; l% U4 presource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
8 r0 k: e6 R5 T& F9 }, ~9 sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 9 v0 e1 d# Z# W

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the ; E, A2 c1 n0 \: B& h1 H
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
6 b( y8 _% W& i" g) p: B; P4 Qwell as the script, magazine and book library. K7 h" ~2 o# \1 _( j

Duties: ! N* p* _3 Z( X5 e
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
W z7 E( m, ~) M/ s6 M% @- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books / r" n9 i w4 M4 a& Y( Y& X7 t
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
( p3 A0 c- J9 o1 U! T1 ~- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
1 e! E8 J% S7 w4 Q* @; F- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 8 k h1 g) W9 V+ u+ l4 _
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
# }& ]6 }2 U, b* d# l9 K# H/ Y- Strong organizational skills
% z2 B5 l7 w; L' L2 e- Experience or training in library sciences preferred ) i( ~. C5 R, P
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
