FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
5 a7 j/ e2 o; Z! O7 F/ v3 Isupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 W: [' n) U" d# Kemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
6 r; o! ]0 u6 h2 Oresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
3 L+ B; G, I7 x, \" @screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
8 N$ V2 e  o' UAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
3 j* D) W+ L8 g0 `5 E. Y/ {2 X8 z- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
7 v1 T- U/ F; ]' a# {- F- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

4 P6 I! b+ U1 p. F8 z+ t8 R# H- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
6 P: j# o) N0 n  }1 R# ]! m- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
4 ?' ^7 B+ _; _8 D- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
