FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
1 _( F7 M. w3 _' L$ Z1 csummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

3 ^6 X' X5 T) S& U/ ?  ]FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
$ T* K% ~5 p) c, b7 Z6 Mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
$ N/ u4 ^3 D3 F. w& aAlberta.

$ n5 Y  T" M' ^! P+ K( u/ W; J  `% ]Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
3 h5 d8 z7 A0 p! k) k. o# N- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. E% G" H9 ~( E/ {- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. |7 |8 W. m& [1 x2 }+ z- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

$ }( h" |% v( W  V" K8 u, Q- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
1 \4 m& Q4 a' d: d) F- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
& [# ]5 o/ Z* p- B. Y7 qsecondary training, university preferred
' m. k7 {- ]. w- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
' x& Z/ @( L3 |8 E: w- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
6 ?! k" w8 `" E0 U9 [- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
4 P+ U; M! x4 U3 k- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
