FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
' X- w+ v2 e; A0 {$ ]$ @summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 9 v0 ^9 h% J: W* V& R/ k/ ^ e
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
2 d k7 U1 S7 o, ~" V& @Alberta. ( j* o. c- U! s& \+ J' u
% c4 N1 c8 x8 _FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from % T f( o) _, y6 ^1 r6 @$ V4 S
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 8 S; k$ Q0 A4 g3 P, ]# C
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a - ?+ `( Q- f! T. K; G
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ' z" q* o$ a3 ] ?) n% Q
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ) c0 x. F* S. q- a7 N7 ]6 }$ N
Alberta.

FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as + t, X7 L: c; I/ A& C
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: . g5 O& N% W6 K1 c: t& }4 `
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 2 G: }7 T/ K- }' j+ h% {0 D
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books $ {! H' D0 q! j# R
- Implement a catalogue template for future use * w7 s( S" S; P" x
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
! `4 ?. u2 B+ T) Q6 y6 y1 V5 @- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong organizational skills . f" H( Z) i& a
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred # `# \/ e) k3 j% i+ |2 z
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
* Q) [/ R0 i/ b+ G! c9 P( B+ W+ `* t- Strong team player abilities + X' G# R) s8 P, R" `) \% h
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 7 G% z. Q% O) Y c% \( f
