9 U; _* ?0 E! S. gFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
# q9 ?- x5 ^5 ~) ~: usupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

2 a0 X1 p% P" k! p9 y/ d( KFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 K8 {1 C; F1 i3 Z0 U5 temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
# }3 s* J# _( Nand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
4 ?- L* k, O5 q- W- x1 L, ]resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ A$ ]( w! M, o) H+ j9 Uscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
; E& J: e/ G3 w' l) c+ G/ Dwell as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
5 {% i5 z; n2 `& h* e; l- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

' L7 U# h: g" H& Y$ y, [- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
' O9 V4 i2 F3 s6 V$ U4 v/ }- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
" ]: s; E+ B$ X6 ^7 ]; ^1 m0 }4 x4 o- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' \( [7 G+ p; H, I- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
/ d5 p/ B/ O9 z, G" d0 r) E4 }- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
