FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
8 ?! ?" A1 s# {2 M+ ]5 {3 U5 `summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

& R0 ^( w% u5 U- M6 P4 W% S& yFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
' A) }- H5 |4 L/ Z( Aemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% f2 A$ r$ A/ H$ tresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
' ^4 g9 G% |& ]- bAlberta.

1 q0 b9 \- N1 k4 Y3 r* B  aJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
: y+ y) |* G7 x0 y- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
# F: B. C  ^- S" S8 c4 U# `. b. G- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
& _# C; D6 U) C$ y, h- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
/ `, M! y- c; V5 J- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
: d  n! G, R6 {7 `* \7 `- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
* r7 X2 U6 r- ]( }% R0 o# e- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

) F" u8 [8 c# Q' f9 V6 ?- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
! C9 T' F9 Y  a0 y3 B+ i) |) c6 l. R6 i- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
