FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
# Y* ^( Q1 R: Y% d3 F. A# x0 [summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
* `- H* ]$ `3 k* HAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

# M/ W, g3 J0 ?- q- nJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
! {) b/ b( m8 F0 yFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
- l- j0 |# h- ?0 U! hwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
  }, x$ J# \$ E& a- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
* `( v6 y3 W: W% b- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
  X3 v% c  j3 _% D- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
- @1 @7 z0 d6 i+ R. a" R1 l$ O(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- m$ ~' }3 O9 O1 g' u5 ^- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- l3 p+ }, w  c: }0 H# r; x. T- Strong organizational skills
/ A+ [: ~# T. ^- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
) P1 ?' {3 s- @# I1 P- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
% w1 M  d1 K: {  U0 W- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
