FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 9 P- K9 N, J$ w" O/ i$ c
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to / Z' U* u: X* u4 A6 C! D; K z
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
& B# H2 D! R. w) M! aAlberta. 0 f1 O4 ~. I; q/ ?/ e
( W0 q$ @7 I: b: p; V" K2 N; l
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 3 E! m; Y4 q8 c# d
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 7 w8 A# J' Q# v! c, I
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a $ A. R9 @) r7 x' F
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ' B( z" T+ v! g" J0 T/ z
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 4 @! H. k( c7 i* C
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
+ C* _- {4 R& A: N! K9 ZFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as ! r: G0 c- K9 G2 [9 }& A: S
well as the script, magazine and book library. : r5 G# z4 n) U8 ~8 }( B. k' T0 N
% T! q% }5 H5 T {& b9 ?7 HDuties: ! ^2 N- o6 }6 M
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library / p% R! [5 W) P
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
4 J8 T$ e/ }: f; I8 O- Implement a catalogue template for future use
( j: k; z4 B: n% \- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure & E2 ^, n* T% }6 B$ l
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
3 ]9 O1 Y3 C$ e) R* f& }secondary training, university preferred
/ k* U% t; y$ }% h; ]- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) K1 G3 U* r2 D7 ^& F- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks ; R f( w' c& F

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
$ w# ]0 v x+ J- f$ x6 o" |5 S- Strong organizational skills
" w1 m; W$ Z6 h- `) j- |- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
