FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
7 W: i& m, O0 g' f0 Usummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
9 }1 u2 A( b/ _2 xsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
0 u9 @+ ?5 k  g/ aAlberta.

, r& m/ R% Z9 \' @FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# W% [: U  G3 X/ ]emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
3 I. h. c  ~" l: U$ |5 [resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
# V2 {0 d+ O/ G' F( n; d  }Alberta.

6 R2 M) Y; G! k8 j8 TJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
+ F$ [* J0 ^+ N* q) X/ t3 DFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
( d& y  }- \9 \' i) F* Z& R9 ~  Q+ j- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
5 y: t7 A4 ^; w7 \/ a- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
# s9 d- w. c5 W/ \" }) M- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
0 Z, o! A( H. [+ p1 c; Q6 m5 a& B(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
: g! O# \7 L. K! E3 ]/ o- a  ?8 c- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' c& E7 B) D" z; `, j2 U. z1 W- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
) n/ Z7 R, X$ h$ q, b) p* I- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
* u# P$ R% w  X5 I2 T& q- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
