FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the ; R1 o$ b6 A7 q f7 z# Q$ y/ s
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
9 ?% U9 \) _3 i3 [; j- g! @& }support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
# \: O. a- W. \3 Z1 V m* n$ OAlberta. 3 @- s# q" y2 s8 n( [
. o1 R& M: u3 X: e6 K: aFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
+ x, `0 p2 `/ X/ Z" Yemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
1 D3 E, K' A! b3 t! I% k% T9 @and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
9 _6 L2 i% a) p) s' Z: _* I( Mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and : h! ]' W" S/ ?# |# e: y
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the 2 _0 k6 k* t( U5 e, p
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as - `0 N4 o9 }% q& i
well as the script, magazine and book library.

: q! c5 L2 r# w/ a8 l7 y4 p4 N- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library ( ?6 K4 \5 j! b' W+ p
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
" A- d5 ^& r P# M5 z4 l" u- Implement a catalogue template for future use 8 g3 R/ r# w; Y
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
* P1 X4 Y5 d& {- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ; U$ s6 k) a* U+ Y( ^: y- \

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' g$ n3 o5 i$ W- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts & S* e! y" Z/ _% Y- d* s7 m( b
- Strong organizational skills + ?# c" J! v: ~4 B) \
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred % w: Z9 K; J5 D! U3 V2 x$ k
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal * o6 q& w; X2 b' m( ^+ ?7 M; ? ~& R" [. e
- Strong team player abilities
2 Y& a5 c# y- l7 n3 K& l- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
