FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
5 y8 T" O) b. z* J: `( i1 G' p) {6 ^support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
  h6 [7 u+ j$ `/ w" y  i4 jAlberta.

5 q: P  r8 f! W5 f* F" B1 T5 |FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
, P! R- r- o. j. M3 K) Pemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
7 S( {# X5 |' S2 i) [$ EAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

( o2 j2 Z" d' s: c+ @$ a' k1 zDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. f* n% }6 E+ T- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
1 u+ V$ G1 S8 Z. L- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
1 m* ~0 w  R% {8 g: U/ w' Q- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
+ d! Z, k, d7 dsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) p# C& y# V4 t0 u2 N0 a% {" V- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
4 Z. ?6 U: x% f. M, ?& f9 W- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
# }' F# @  d2 s' x/ j' K- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
