7 a$ o  @( b3 n% CFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
4 X0 W1 T3 _" F, q6 [summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
- Y" C8 @7 q$ m$ ]1 u* L' [% N2 n2 ^support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

8 E5 b) V: R  i( o6 F) lFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 C" \  V* O! e1 n: memerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 d2 F+ V3 y- ]0 V, Xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, a  A, @/ j! G  ~% f5 xresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
2 U) s6 T: E' q, ]screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
4 v3 [) [- B9 K3 s9 f) i; {, ^well as the script, magazine and book library.

1 m$ f  O6 \2 Q" }) bDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
& p" [5 T5 l8 P. d. M+ o. d- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
; F2 d/ {; M5 C0 @- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
' A+ h6 ^7 A- ?1 B2 t/ F4 @. w- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

/ I3 A5 l& J9 ~  K% u- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
/ B" v& M' g7 o5 v; [" t! S5 ysecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
$ x, @4 r+ X- M" `7 y3 v# B  a+ g- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A0 D3 T+ J) R7 d/ J. n1 rQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
" S/ i: Z' U0 D, S- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
9 @; T2 e8 F  D6 x- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
  x: h0 w& J0 X3 Q% c" C1 i& z- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
