FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
. y" \2 F/ x  r9 V7 O. q: _1 j# Ssummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

( e! u* o! H* z( oFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
; r+ @" Y9 ^: Sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

$ S6 K  f1 T0 _! Q+ y- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
8 O% v( x' |9 b/ ?: G' G- B- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
' k. u0 ~# V* t+ F7 o- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
1 ^1 \8 _5 D8 _7 x% R% j7 T# |- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) \7 \+ a4 [. M) \- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- |& y3 O9 l1 n7 q* V4 r- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
5 l8 ?1 t+ M6 l  G9 [- Strong organizational skills
. o% Q6 K5 q5 p; T, |8 D- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
9 C) j& k1 ~8 h% j- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
