! a* W) s# z) w, s2 |FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
$ f7 T1 u, J; X& [5 n; f" ysummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to ( o8 @3 l) i$ \2 @5 m% e g
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern + j& T% \+ t! F$ e
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 6 g5 `- ^' q& c
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video # ?4 i$ `7 S0 |) p
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
{* L2 Q+ h0 s1 W6 h/ v# ?resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 6 G' s1 i l* a8 O" h) {
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

# s7 u) t; N# S5 n$ PJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the 1 t: S! P# d; B7 ?
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as 2 f$ B0 P0 G/ J! I2 l% v- I8 L
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- S. a& O2 j4 c" t7 g# M3 u- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 0 ]0 @/ a. O2 d# [. a: | [; D" V
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
6 O. N, U J4 s- Implement a catalogue template for future use , Q: k" j; J1 n0 _
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
5 X m: p( B9 {# [: h* S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 0 a9 ]; z+ ~- A& w X4 o4 g
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks 2 @0 t" {; D7 {- l2 k" _( C

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& B. j2 Q$ a1 ~) w- h$ q% }& T- Strong organizational skills
- ]# r* _. `& O+ L! S! Y3 L, j- Experience or training in library sciences preferred / w3 c2 j4 W9 s& | b2 p" [
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal 8 ^# D9 H" o) t" G( C N
- Strong team player abilities
) p& Y) G; n" c, H- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
