FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
' H& A9 O+ i7 u6 [; D( g$ j( Usummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
+ m3 t1 ~# h8 E$ J0 rsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
# o0 L1 ?+ C4 Q: \" HAlberta.

2 `( Y  g- B. x" UFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
) s1 A* @4 }, xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
  v4 }# t, d* @$ N  land media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
+ ~$ O' T0 S, ]3 cresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

0 |2 O- W: M+ [' z4 HJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
  A1 H3 L/ m9 R7 mFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

1 C' a9 w) A5 a$ b& _+ J  W- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
  u. A+ A9 y2 Y; J1 r$ S% p9 ^' O- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

9 y- Y, }! |' |( S) W6 }2 G3 G& U- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
* f4 _2 u* d8 H% f(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
1 Y( {2 f, ]) b' v5 ~$ A- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
; y- B/ i9 S& ]- W9 N3 m- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
