! ?6 J1 F* m( W% c. o7 HFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
; k* ^# N! e8 b+ m0 |' u- c9 |8 c1 VAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% [! e! ]3 C9 Temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
1 Z: o. r! G. l- B! ~screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
. Y9 P! n  \3 q8 ~- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
0 ~- C* ?# i3 r* w% V2 p- N+ l% lsecondary training, university preferred
5 b3 ^  c9 T" x( k8 h/ q+ n# Q- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
$ L* A! j3 S* h- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
* a$ J( J7 ?2 F, R: d; }' G- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
& N, e: g+ x/ d3 r- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
