FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
8 r9 _% o7 L' U2 Qsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 7 h" [. y8 a& S7 ^9 [/ O! I
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
/ R: @3 R/ f' J* Z- GAlberta. % ?" H; z/ W$ x. O; ~8 k1 ^9 a/ `

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
! @0 V( g, Z7 e9 Q$ V& v9 H8 P" temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video - Z5 G0 `: d3 A! H- d/ {8 f: ]
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 2 f( `3 h5 Z& F' O
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
; g: U1 x G% @, @( Sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ! c& I& f( G6 V4 |) \6 \
Alberta.

! A' \6 T6 P6 AJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
2 W2 c6 r: x: c* R1 ], rFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as " g5 W8 K( n6 a3 b) C6 ~% c% i" }
well as the script, magazine and book library. * _* R5 z- c2 g/ G% ^8 R

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library + g! D! ?2 z2 Y" T( e" x7 _# E
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
5 v( K7 ? s! m) r% R9 Q3 a4 a- Implement a catalogue template for future use
, k3 I/ D( v6 _( H) ?- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

+ S: y+ b4 Q4 K/ p5 z1 G8 I( m- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 p4 q$ f. b! G! `6 i- H9 S- Strong organizational skills
/ O) _# q3 i" D- Experience or training in library sciences preferred - q5 Z% z! k5 W/ n3 f
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal 4 w! Q+ E' p- _$ N" j* J) R/ g! L
- Strong team player abilities ; f V# x2 p; a2 J
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
