7 Q5 d! r6 C2 [' s$ J tFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
3 N5 `3 P# c2 q% ]8 Fsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to ! m8 g2 E5 R$ H2 B+ D
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
9 k& P& C+ [/ m# ~/ tAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# ~* x3 |0 b |/ X7 }& f, Temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video $ H" l8 G- f1 @) B$ T2 o* s
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 ~3 C& G& t1 Eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 7 L m. H# x% u/ d6 [& {
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

) N5 W' ?$ F: u: c% mJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the # W" D& y$ ?! Y$ l, o
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
, O" K5 i. o! R/ h' l1 a6 ? `- w0 Pwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
4 B+ F( d6 r3 A2 V- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
# u% T) K7 U. ~8 B7 R- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books : s! j( o0 l6 d
- Implement a catalogue template for future use ?: G$ V$ l. C& M1 L; z3 i
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure % }2 P+ q" E: \( J' K
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 1 y% f$ {7 P6 x4 \' C6 C# v

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
( I8 l( K. V3 m4 \3 asecondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong organizational skills : v0 r6 B O% v. e6 e' z5 s- _
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred " e% z3 h S6 ^) F& X, ?! Z4 q' W
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal 5 j% c) J& P/ z
- Strong team player abilities 0 [5 n3 `- [% ^0 w1 b+ x% A
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
