$ b) o4 Z  p- y' y  _5 s; {FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
5 ]  O! `) N: D& C2 o1 S( ^support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
5 O0 C6 V2 L# K+ o0 vAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 Z6 I' N# b2 d( _1 s$ `0 z) y. remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
: |# h7 K. s9 E$ ]7 o; F3 Land media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  {; G0 X# |! {' B/ ]3 K: K& }4 Mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
, n" ?  u# n$ O$ s# RAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

+ w+ m: o. ]0 v+ h$ D6 d4 a/ hDuties:
, E# P8 n$ m5 c8 R7 ^7 G. D8 h- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
2 Y; q& W) Y4 P! `# P5 K1 z- Implement a catalogue template for future use
) p/ F0 x5 a# j& {# t- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
( e" S! `+ K8 e- ]- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
7 N9 Y: L4 M9 a* x  ^4 a! o; z$ psecondary training, university preferred
) K6 i- Q0 u  \3 M6 O, Q% F6 O- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
# a/ u3 }+ x. Y8 d0 ?+ O8 c* H- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
  ^- [8 L7 _: ]- K6 w0 f, ^3 L- Strong team player abilities
- {; V/ w: K: D- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
