FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
1 M6 n) Z5 Q) v: J5 wsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
' R# G7 x- @5 j, ~& Q' Z! ssupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( p% o0 F$ V' U7 B' Aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

/ n" z  c  L; @+ p% a0 [Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
( f7 ]( ?# d8 L! TFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

) R: B& J$ x, f8 t, q" SDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
9 D1 ]: Q8 O2 j0 c& ~. D# v- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
# c' h% K9 E% w$ i- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
5 F* ^# u+ o- W/ p# z- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
1 r5 S* b) f$ ]/ e" e, K) msecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
2 G/ R- W5 a: J0 K* ?5 H- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

4 p& P; S* }% `Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
% S  P) h/ v6 A; w1 N! J; p9 ?- Strong organizational skills
$ W; Z4 g0 X9 B2 B- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
3 n/ D- n, c0 p% t: F1 t- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
/ k. ]& K+ h. h% b5 t  F- Strong team player abilities
