FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the 4 }) s' j/ r6 @! c5 y
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
s: l' @- U* lsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern & j2 g2 j% f& I& @
Alberta. $ @0 Q# \4 s# |
4 h: g- C. y. Z- w; OFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 7 ^/ J( y8 r/ D; a6 E; }+ y
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
( A5 K/ `2 Z& D# m; u1 D5 Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 w/ G: k; v( q! ^! Kresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and D, T' A; O3 E
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern " A% u1 w6 _3 b% L

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the & R. h9 z" v* ^8 m
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
$ _ j& E) P c9 [1 Hwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: ; c3 o1 h/ n5 \
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library . \8 i! V& o2 w# Y: w3 [
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
2 C! N y/ g/ O: B2 o9 z/ C- Implement a catalogue template for future use & J( H. B4 x, B _
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
# D. ]2 O. c2 n3 _. A+ O! V$ S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
) x6 p5 L% U) H. e. e- @ ' M o, B5 r8 i$ {. E x8 R

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-- l6 q2 i) F$ ?& g
secondary training, university preferred
4 h9 U' l9 h# H' k- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
+ {$ M4 R% X9 B+ V3 X- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
' G$ Q. }3 S" ~) |! u( V! K- Strong organizational skills
% D7 x- H1 N7 ]# \! i- Experience or training in library sciences preferred H7 d% _$ Q) F4 L8 e( d
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
