Organization:    Film & Video Arts Society- Alberta (FAVA)

FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
1 A# X$ @) K/ L/ g5 {support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

% _4 k# f+ k* X( d4 R( N  W$ `! LFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
! ^+ S( X1 u; w% y6 ~+ j5 Aand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
2 _% p; u' M' z' `/ }) @. lwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
7 I6 O- a% q1 t( w& |" H  p' }! S- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
. L  l* G. T3 r- n2 e( C, I- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

' }6 h; k: |/ R8 }; P1 N- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' U$ J# `& r- x8 G- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
6 j# p; c2 V! f- Strong organizational skills
: c8 n% S  p2 a% w6 ]- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
# c7 C& H5 `9 Q- N. `2 i- h  O. K- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
