FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
% l, g0 s) p, {0 K/ Rsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 ]9 M# b& r. ^$ Y  I* hemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
1 J- T4 _& k, p! R# yand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

" j7 F$ i1 T0 C7 q1 b) FJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
$ a' t  ~( H6 V& s$ H& Q1 E2 X- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
0 t6 |8 J  v2 `0 ]( q8 F! ~4 }- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- P, T" j4 [2 c( Z, z. n0 ?  B; q- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
! i9 Z/ |$ X8 P" V: P7 Q- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
6 p- k1 _% S2 K; N2 f. d! esecondary training, university preferred
3 E0 e  i. R  N3 W  Z  Q4 L- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- C; s1 ~5 t7 H6 K- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
! |, P6 Z. ~5 m- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
