: Z# @- A3 F0 c* w' e8 F1 ^FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
' A$ [1 j8 B+ D  |# ?summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.
$ V8 C6 |8 [/ w. D
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ B5 i1 ~+ N7 @and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ D! S! _# [- S2 o1 xscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
5 k8 f, \! z1 QAlberta.

- G  P# T/ j# R6 A# jJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
  U) D+ i* {+ R; S) V4 DFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
4 ^1 Q2 n( K' U3 I+ N4 N- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
, q8 p; s9 Q' j7 X( j% E- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
+ ]4 i& Z$ e8 B2 F3 Z: X# \- Implement a catalogue template for future use
2 ^0 V2 A( |0 S( x- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
. j* M  q& b7 p- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

5 J7 m' X8 D* u. C" \# A) j- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
# {7 e) \! t. c; h/ I; j(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
$ E# D# ~3 b: O- a4 m, y1 B: tsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
( w1 x% v7 I) P, G- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
