FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
" H! n1 Z3 S+ V- ~/ fsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
# E! h4 H. _! J: ysupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
$ Q3 B' _8 X0 c4 `5 K. vAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
0 \$ T- J! l5 G) M( Oand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 p$ c4 X# L6 I" r$ dresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
, r" ]; l& Z( b& ~9 DAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
. [1 O  O# c2 _  m1 V0 nFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
6 e) \3 m" a) \* Wwell as the script, magazine and book library.

, n3 l2 g, g0 K- m, w5 ?Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
7 f- t4 d* k& C8 Y- Implement a catalogue template for future use
  y8 e" j, C& r! K) v- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
2 _( C4 r" k. ~  D0 Y! f- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
3 h4 y2 x9 s6 a* Y( s/ Y, Y- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
, k7 L3 o' w1 p( l1 J+ @- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
) c) x' ^5 T9 A- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- F% t6 D2 y# @' `' s. [- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
