! i: Q2 h5 }! M4 f2 P: Z$ n" ~FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
& y) S" [% e: [- e$ c7 V$ VAlberta.

+ a! t$ h0 y0 B; t( JFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 s; A- Q" X1 o/ Nand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, z  T2 I7 s( W, @8 x+ Rresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) O4 v) r8 k  U4 V7 @. v! vscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

$ ?" P' W5 F( X7 A2 I0 y: p4 FJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
" j8 X  s/ G- \well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
8 u, Y. K+ m8 L$ X% e6 B  P6 i- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. m! ^' S7 P9 @- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
* j0 k# u$ x( R" R5 [& x- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

! Z1 T2 L% C( E! c- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
4 s" ]0 a3 r% A! v- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

0 {. h% ^8 _9 ^7 ]% Y4 a& NQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- V4 w0 _3 u$ n- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- u. M3 |$ C0 n* g2 Q% l- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
/ n% G& X+ z, y- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
