FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the ! e$ t0 s w' {* [% W1 {
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
) @) _. b0 s: l e1 r* \" xsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern

1 z8 ?; M$ D& Z9 C) `# h6 vFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 6 f, \! G$ p. X" O* r& |
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 1 `, J: J# d: e& L; u2 _) B
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% D8 p; c; X X0 ?. H: G- ]resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
3 M& K# o! W' n8 ~% P' c" a0 B& a" {screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

/ i; ^) a) [' h5 h) p+ GJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the % L/ H0 P( { t O% z
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as - T @" y& d- |* Z
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library # y e! {+ k$ ^: f7 F3 T. \
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books $ c( N* H2 f+ u
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
" L# P8 @; B( a7 j- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
* {; p8 n! s( C$ d& E( A- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts L+ f4 Q5 B3 z% X/ k
- Strong organizational skills
* c/ F, ^! ?* m5 g- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
% E' i# C) b/ v" J: d* [% T5 r) n2 `- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal + v5 `6 E3 R' d* u V& S
- Strong team player abilities
