7 I; Z; ~$ {4 K& `FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
. L" [, @" z1 Zsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
  _8 \+ O& z& `) C: F/ x$ semerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
' [4 k. b% `5 L  Q0 W( o1 r# E1 a* |and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
! H$ |# q5 e9 p( L8 q9 E5 z; O' a( @screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
  [) m: A% K0 E" }' h3 S0 n& twell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
9 b3 M4 Q3 E8 S* ?" y# @- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
1 V* @/ q; `0 c8 L+ q! @secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& O3 @% {. |+ r" K$ Q' h2 c0 O( ?$ u- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
; C' M0 `3 r$ E: v0 {# K- L2 T$ Y( |- Strong organizational skills
2 }# t, M% u1 f; g: b7 o, c- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- O$ [9 V& ^4 s- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
