FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the ! b; y4 o* ?$ q+ q
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
) g8 ^6 @, Q: ?. U$ V! qsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
9 x. p, o5 [0 I; t3 ZAlberta. 9 f3 _2 t1 X6 ?. x

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# d: n+ z! P# c [7 I. x+ ~" M% d$ nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 S2 q5 L; Y# b% u: K6 z
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ; z: X( y/ N5 b( R7 @+ D) h
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
7 v5 e; g* l& J& C' W1 ~- A8 mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern " P7 j/ e, {9 E$ e6 s

4 m; N( \3 e- ?9 _ ^) A) uJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
7 _$ e* a: j' x) p( q7 {7 Q% oFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
& d1 H$ U q: t8 `6 dwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: - d9 E# |/ C( V
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library " I7 f5 J2 D( y$ T6 W2 N* \
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
4 J6 o( Y9 W, D* Z0 ^- Implement a catalogue template for future use
# F* u5 c0 F j1 E& N! Z7 L- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure . l q$ |/ i- h7 u1 R
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
) x5 H: b8 D" |& ]- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ! ^+ z7 X) ]. }
- Strong organizational skills + `) _ `& ]- X {% { D
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
) H- Z+ F* v! B( J/ U5 m1 n+ P1 L$ s: m- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
