FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

. c* R- z# f2 a% C; l$ \FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
  ?5 I1 ^/ ~; o, j8 M! m2 u$ A, |: oAlberta.

* h" w; M: b; oJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
! L$ R* P1 y/ _! x& F+ P( t4 F- K- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
4 s) ]/ n4 j' _& F8 Y/ G& s2 v( Z- Implement a catalogue template for future use
6 Y- _' f' \) F- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
. Z% ~0 H+ p3 w6 ~4 S5 P* H; i- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
" X: S+ ~) l- t: w: [. I' D+ F- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
. C5 A5 L4 s4 z( `$ M- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
