FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
8 f% K6 Z T: C4 W" w# rsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
/ L# i( f! ]: ]: wsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern : J$ ?& a; r/ }- @5 i% `! W) X
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 l, @+ S4 K) o( g) T5 Xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
$ V+ X& E# `" r' r u8 mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
& S: j7 j* r- [; J2 sresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ o. V! r- n Z. K0 pscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: o% [/ U2 g3 ]) o9 QAlberta.

3 X8 T1 p% n! q* u+ CJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the + J- f& G5 |" K+ X: d% _5 U
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
! L, S5 H' L' G- a: Q+ c( Lwell as the script, magazine and book library.
+ M7 a+ j" m+ ^( W9 t) ]' U
+ z. d4 q# k# r4 I: {/ R- q" yDuties: + E% N$ S+ [, U* ]' `
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 9 k" L% F/ b6 o
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
s/ ] D. V, Y8 R3 T: o) R- Implement a catalogue template for future use
+ D, n& e$ E/ R% u- `- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure / ~8 f8 H" d$ F# }
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training, university preferred

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
3 i" d$ W6 b, ]& D: O6 i- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ) }3 z* H, h5 ]+ i
- Strong organizational skills 5 U- O7 z) _! k4 M
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
" c, e( F, X) y4 ^% M! v8 c- d- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal + i" \, m6 Q" f# j) Q4 o
- Strong team player abilities 6 Q0 p4 C. K( Z4 e
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ' g U# y3 t' \4 ~3 x
