FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
- Y3 F8 ]# A! ]' a# Z) asupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
4 z6 G, E8 P% j3 x; k. ^; m8 c, kAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, r; O& m5 k9 m; F+ K' i0 presource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
! D0 k* {; u, B/ X' }screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
, _& ^% X: o# j! b+ R9 j8 ~' DAlberta.

/ V+ [. V7 H3 nJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
/ S8 G+ ?7 c3 Uwell as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
8 k% s: g+ ~5 o; N3 z! y  _- Implement a catalogue template for future use
* y' [4 g' d' H( \0 @6 U7 ?  c" [- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
8 _& L, H" b  m1 _# h9 B  |; }5 a' q8 _

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

' a* t) j! z" R; M. M/ A8 l* A" \4 u- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
: P# E6 T- B* _) {- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
; }/ c) ]$ D4 v& t3 s9 V; f% y7 E- Strong team player abilities
; w  m: x+ n, R7 a( W0 [" o- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
