FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the - d- V' I n2 S
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to ' s/ p- }( Y3 f; d0 Q3 v b! D
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern ! c$ t; ]4 `, ~# f* `% P- c
Alberta. ( p0 U. O5 r! p' _* x$ x4 s
4 _# }& n+ W* g( p# jFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
& a5 i" P6 H% f- s/ semerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 O. e& X u) G( w, mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
& W: C5 U; y# Z6 D( V0 jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and " a9 G! H V7 a2 Y
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
& ?! w# w0 t& Y: l" v- P/ JFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as 8 m# i# m: Z8 |& p* t
well as the script, magazine and book library. ! {$ U& @& g7 i

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
) @& ]$ C) h1 }% T$ I- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books 1 _1 f8 X6 h8 r/ z; Z; c7 H
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. _0 T; @: j/ g8 S# z( c- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
9 ~8 C9 o! }- t: E- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-% i: y" ^6 m! X
secondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
) M8 A- I+ r0 ~6 x% A; g- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ! i9 x$ }0 {. b# T, S4 M0 `
- Strong organizational skills 5 m. I$ L5 u7 h* f2 g! J
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred & B; d" m& s4 J0 ]* [( _8 W) V
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
