FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
& X8 Z, M& J+ e" X; Ssummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to , M& b4 ], j/ O! A" Q0 p
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 2 y2 y) L- f3 Y+ M* M% ~
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video . g" u- K7 y% F! s; D
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
/ s& `) h# e/ {' Z- oresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ! z7 k l2 F' H4 J, o0 q& A! j B& y
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern $ Q5 B& U3 o w& ?

( I: s; r! p2 i- [Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the 8 a7 z! f' ]% f0 b
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
+ x7 j ~' o* D' ]8 e7 Mwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties: 0 d7 z* h. R0 k* ]- t* ?/ N% s& l
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
% W( L6 T) [$ }5 o, `4 Y$ O- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
?! [5 ^/ m7 I- I- Implement a catalogue template for future use & W6 k+ z2 o4 O: r( Q: [
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure 3 n, Y: {' b! x- `/ v
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
8 l6 M, i' i$ b& I" u5 l7 U# Nsecondary training, university preferred

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
7 b2 l% b3 O' f9 p0 k/ f- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
) V- V- T1 V8 r, P, M. f% m- o5 e- Strong organizational skills 0 a0 l6 Q+ K/ i9 {9 s9 Y; t0 W: _" F
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred , f# Z/ b& G* d8 ?* m
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
