FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
4 ]8 p" H$ W% t% ?- b- i- Y& {Alberta.

, @; b3 X& Y" A: N3 U# d* F* a# u2 iFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 r( z6 r6 \* J; _) Demerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. o0 l4 a- K2 M# l! Ascreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
& G# N% L1 B4 R& E. Y' hAlberta.

4 t- l& J  N( o* D6 jJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
9 B2 g5 A2 ?+ |FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
. I, v$ j& s$ {* }4 `# V. xwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
/ n- Z1 R7 W3 x! m2 M- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
4 @9 I5 S5 d+ ?; ~- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
1 F5 q, T8 F* ~- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

5 ~5 r. E# A9 C3 K- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

: t9 d8 F3 V' M5 ?/ Z8 f- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
2 m7 o( T$ K3 z5 r- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
  B, e! N2 }$ B1 ]- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
: ?$ v- H  `5 K3 E* b- Strong team player abilities
* l  l% d9 Y+ j# q. v9 X& g, H- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
