Organization:    Film & Video Arts Society- Alberta (FAVA)

FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
4 v, ]8 E1 w" osummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
4 k- G) e  N' `' E6 KAlberta.
9 f1 p' J$ ^% B- Y+ R0 [- t
& U: ~* H- \% G0 nFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- z  j# B9 m$ t! Nscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
' C6 y( P) V0 V* r" ]  n- MFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

" v5 K( B7 H4 I9 G; r) N" EDuties:
0 a; {+ {; Z& `) g- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
( [7 \# w; V9 C& ^! c. O4 p* i- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
9 z) ~4 h4 r) y/ Lsecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& o5 V# P  w, ?' p" ?) K- Strong organizational skills
* P; E8 T( [+ C% F" U) r- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
8 W5 Q- W, R% L9 B5 u0 Y- N4 c- Strong team player abilities
3 ]- W. D! c2 n1 d3 s( P- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
