FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
, ?9 N" S) b5 X; z& I+ psummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
9 n2 h% `: ?  P$ ^$ xsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

' J/ G- S# m1 c8 R( \FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 Y; w& n% ?, ~8 j0 f' Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
: `3 e! k8 F9 z: j* @9 O5 R: Hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* c( \2 b0 a, o6 \8 m6 u& k1 W3 fscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
/ A4 W2 z, H7 {5 Z' u% n0 KAlberta.

8 X* U5 h& j- t$ O0 K/ {Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
1 K5 `" @7 _5 ^" ]) _1 ?FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

/ ?2 @6 }& _2 e0 X+ pDuties:
! `- e4 b, y7 i( ^- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
7 Z6 L2 \6 Q. h0 f: R8 Q0 c) @- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
/ a& T  ~1 F: M- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
5 Z7 S, ~9 a) S' P5 a- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred

- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
