' D  V( N9 H8 V6 L+ `FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
" x* L+ B2 Y1 q+ M4 g, {( |1 vAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
3 L# F5 }( Q' Nand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

% w, H$ ~1 _& IFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

3 d$ r) Y9 }: ~% o5 A: I( e; H- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
/ R/ T8 ?* ~" ^- Implement a catalogue template for future use
' E: x" L4 ~$ f. n1 L- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
: c4 y- @& |0 U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
1 Y( q8 l/ c6 @; A% r+ y/ H7 _- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
; z, d- m3 G. |# u6 j1 {- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
! w- J) |5 t% z7 s0 V- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

* e7 I0 s3 I- S/ N' }9 `2 eQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
8 f2 m% k! m& f( r7 P4 O- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
! ^- S4 Q, @. x/ `+ E" k5 D+ X- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
; Y+ h% z' ], H0 x4 n& c5 c- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
