FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
  Q4 w4 J+ o- F: ]; pAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 @5 z# G) D; `- f  Eand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

9 t! t. O, C) @; Y) {+ M# w. TJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
/ ^  w' A) o. H- SFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

% d) q4 P/ f* R3 K- ZDuties:
! _* I# @8 U( C! a5 V- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
: m5 p6 S) M0 g- E0 J- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
: U* F8 Z2 y0 C% T- z, {- Z- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
7 Z6 \7 E6 ~3 U4 _# c: [secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
4 @1 J. w6 Q/ M( Q" R# n- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

) Y! ^+ O: o- Y5 M$ ~- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
