FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 5 d6 K/ ~. y) \1 n7 I& s* S- n9 A
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
- y& q1 {3 D E8 o- yartists from Northern Alberta.

0 i7 B" H& ~$ J5 C; ]FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from : ?; b) M- x" N2 `2 a- b
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video " F; C+ k* |5 w: E* P& e
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 4 p, n! Q5 a% w2 D. P# R
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
! F* O6 u+ F; ]screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ' D; i4 O' Y K
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive * A* B e+ l) W% o" N" I' K
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 9 h$ y+ q* f$ x2 m; H
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
+ `4 }, W$ G; r$ r- g1 |& g
5 J/ d% i1 d& n0 S. zDuties:
; _) ?! B( q5 D* w4 [- Assist with research on acquisition grants
/ Q1 R+ ^; S2 A- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
, W. f, F( L# h r5 E" g8 Q/ U- Assist with equipment maintenance
3 c' v. M9 ]* ~9 P# w' }0 l4 D- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) G( ]6 h" I( v" X% L' d* p2 P) r- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
) C1 x2 u& w [) E" A8 c! n- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable % M. p; X; z* u1 t* l @
- Provide vacation relief

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
1 p0 [) C6 J3 k- Advance organizational and research skills 7 H7 t% Z! G0 C \' \/ {
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD , I) r6 |; N* T1 z" w$ \5 {* w
- Strong team player abilities " W$ |; t" X. i7 ` n: ]9 m) _
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ) c9 Z/ ~ y4 z8 N8 ]0 \2 j5 d
