FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
3 t$ ?" @6 Q5 F! Wwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
" k" ?+ f9 f8 }9 y/ p0 Zartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 i' z1 H# K* p5 |8 Memerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & @' S& q, F# Q ]
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
+ B0 ~3 ?& B8 |3 Uresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& r5 v+ P( v& i7 ]- z% R1 d. y1 Hscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
! q C" s8 {5 FAlberta.

- S# m9 C) U* ~3 X; B: @% TJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive . Q5 z6 I7 I! _ ?6 K( ]! t' W
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by & q& V1 ^7 y8 o9 y- D5 q5 q
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
. Y& r* ]! _% F: J8 J- i- Assist with research on acquisition grants
% A$ {$ ~6 d) Z/ @3 h0 L- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities : b8 Z6 ?8 d! t" o: C; T, N8 w
- Assist with equipment maintenance 8 z& ?1 ~ s* R! k/ a# q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
0 e" ]' Y. y4 @: p& {, p- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 3 [, v% q1 i5 { s
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable , c" \: n& w1 t3 x: N( [* r
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-2 k; R9 F* e- l5 L# v( n
secondary training 2 e) N7 }% q' l# I7 V! h; Y; ]
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ; Q& Z$ `6 W0 l$ m3 a2 p6 G
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
/ y3 U$ W/ b# ?! P0 K \9 ]3 y# c2 D4 g- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment - _( p% s6 S- p
- Advance organizational and research skills
) G6 z' _- U" j3 Y, [- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 2 j6 X4 p7 W$ N7 Z
- Strong team player abilities
: Z. X. `0 S' S/ \7 W& B# Z) t- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
