, u$ a3 z& O& v  qFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
8 F# v( B0 ~* }6 n7 {. c+ dartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
  e- m( w' `& r6 ?! Gand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) x* Z; z% ^  y) F: Vscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

8 a# H, b/ B" M0 D" _Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
: \+ s6 k9 u# X6 UDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

9 r& e3 c5 J3 j( o* H  D* D* {0 rDuties:
8 {. Q! |( @1 t$ J- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- }3 T$ Q% i% W1 g: b$ U3 C% V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
# }" I6 d1 ]: g5 l- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
8 s" O& ?' x5 ^, J5 Q! w$ c0 ^Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
! Y# R; H" l: _, M+ f- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
% L2 {: k' R: ~- X/ {, K- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
+ y! G  M1 s( I& i- ?- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
