FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
! y/ e1 S x w D. |1 nwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media : T4 t) ^( M8 ]6 @
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from * A% f3 ^: w: w) i% A# [ u2 |. D
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 8 Z" K6 f8 P, ?$ p6 t: R
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
2 z) O4 g$ R+ z( t5 gresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
% y$ n# M2 [+ ~* w* oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 7 q) z/ ~9 d8 i) m
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
* N" E @, d/ u+ d7 \, E, O& @Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
; ~, x1 L+ t( Yassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. : K1 I" w4 E" l, r
! d+ T$ @5 } {+ \1 y6 ODuties: 5 j7 W! t5 ?+ @8 U& F0 B
- Assist with research on acquisition grants , z9 L. _' F! h: H! x
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
( Q& p! t' A) A* O$ B U) d% D$ Y& M9 I- Assist with equipment maintenance
4 d% S2 s; S9 r+ m2 m- Assist with production logistics for programming events 0 y3 C! X" c+ Q# ^% q$ l
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : \& H- s7 L+ R: P7 E( `* t, T
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: & R. P1 n; ]0 n9 [5 m9 D
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& G! Y8 Y8 I3 z9 G5 E6 n- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment B* d/ [ P9 R. r% D B1 Y
- Advance organizational and research skills
# i/ \2 C! H9 s* x3 M+ s- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
% [* o" r- Y% v, ^( j, l c- Strong team player abilities 5 K5 I2 [$ k3 V; C2 U1 g# l
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 6 p/ U9 q- \* E0 j, N/ G0 T
