. E1 m& v, ?3 @$ ^7 K8 oFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ' S+ h6 `. V8 y8 N; f. H+ d
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media + a8 Z3 s, P& `6 P
artists from Northern Alberta. ; _4 s6 {9 o) C5 C; P

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from " v$ N7 H: T. ~$ Q( p" H, [$ u$ v
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video : e- a7 y" W% b. `; g" Z
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 9 G4 m' ^# ?& o
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( d1 Y1 i& W6 N2 }screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

4 k+ e5 d, i4 y% s7 I& CJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
$ ?( b$ c' y- }/ KDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& {5 H, W* m0 y, @" [assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 9 e0 Q( ]" S) ?3 r3 a5 j6 U
' o( w6 U" C5 M7 [1 V3 ]3 o
Duties: 5 `8 p6 {9 f5 y
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 9 i, {( I, N% P8 ^$ ]; y: n/ T
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
2 f1 s5 d: D+ U) f! F- Assist with equipment maintenance
' M: l$ p( D" s' [9 X- Assist with production logistics for programming events ) I& Z) K, p1 H7 a1 p8 c: M1 p
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! b; k/ R- d# \& S* |' u( I4 \, M- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 5 b5 P2 X* X4 m! ]7 V; B
- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 2 n% a8 V) V0 ]& z5 ? Z# \
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ( Y; E! I, |+ s
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment " K. Z7 Y7 y- Q# l) d
- Advance organizational and research skills + m* o8 @; v9 H2 T3 v
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
