FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 2 L1 d( Z: I/ K1 e- w
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media , p) l# n0 [- ?" t9 o
artists from Northern Alberta. * Q; T, q' ^% ?# W) }( @

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ) s$ u3 \5 ?& Y
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 0 I3 A" o* e3 `% `( p
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 2 L5 L5 `- n& N2 j8 N2 R
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 9 Q2 R( I! v) g' Q5 \
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern & M! h7 f; c j' e% A
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
4 |' }9 m+ l6 S) nDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
3 O, K/ x) E2 `) ^assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ; [0 {( t$ Z' \9 s: g4 g* C( H& n

Duties:
3 a. g: A! {0 s9 T" ]3 i- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 H C4 D5 V& d* R+ O) {2 e- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
1 X6 X' {1 b* y- Assist with equipment maintenance + r( S; f& a; O; z9 x- E) l5 x
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
3 q" M/ U1 b9 F5 S9 {! @4 v. k- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : P8 K9 @! X$ `' b/ X3 O, j: S: M
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts % Z% O' E" ]8 D0 j% H
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( I, e" K4 d) l4 l+ ?2 f4 ?& G7 W- Advance organizational and research skills
* e- z7 R8 |% O3 p# h- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
