FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ; \+ a: g9 b5 _
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 0 W9 E% T1 m- Y x- }, F$ n
artists from Northern Alberta.

( y2 t- x& v4 i' p+ h; MFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from / h& E2 Z l7 s1 P7 S- D
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 E t/ `1 u1 j1 hand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( [, o d' q) F; A, mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and - t5 v, l+ F' X
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 9 u- s4 z/ T# T! ]) s

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
: H9 |) M3 Y) f: u% P7 C5 [3 {Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
4 c7 l' T7 U) |# W$ R& @( yassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: - W# q b2 ^( g% B$ z6 _4 b8 O& U
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 3 y$ y: d' Y3 P0 a' m# r
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
5 }2 l6 p b, x4 j3 S L9 M- Assist with equipment maintenance
8 Z# Y; X3 _/ d) P% }8 z; A" _! ?- Assist with production logistics for programming events ' y+ f5 @0 O/ N/ g& Q
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# }8 z+ V: \% D1 H" {0 i- Y: a- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 1 R1 l0 @7 L8 Q" @

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-6 w( X9 S& W- a$ x5 j# D6 P
secondary training + K1 L4 Z. M) h3 ^2 w
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week ; i3 @1 k/ r- `2 }! T* l3 {
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 5 N0 g c, | U" z7 C0 Q
- Advance organizational and research skills : ^( O: }$ R% M/ ]) b, O( ]# \
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
