FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
& X& n/ O! k& f1 o1 j* G% pwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from

/ S% h1 {7 l2 h$ q2 `and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a , U' g# ]0 A; V4 b$ P
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ! {, E2 g0 ]# P" d
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by / t+ o% [0 g9 J2 u. G
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: - b( n- c: z5 i
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
" p' K) E, z& i6 p- Y& p5 Q8 l! y" R- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 4 n* ]8 x+ X) A: m' o N
- Assist with equipment maintenance
+ q. r, H7 g1 P# W* `- Assist with production logistics for programming events * y2 B2 g$ O. o& m/ W. g
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 w# i5 v! }/ j& r ~1 o; g+ y- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable % f+ Y% ?) Y/ I6 w& [/ Z
- Provide vacation relief 0 t( R) W$ z. e" }- A

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
0 y; Q" b/ n! r- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts + P n; L6 F5 g2 v# @5 l
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
9 {! [6 j+ T0 ?- Advance organizational and research skills ; O, n+ u3 j+ ?$ e/ k+ z" p
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 4 h8 K9 O% V9 N9 v5 d
- Strong team player abilities
