FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ) O: _ f& g p+ F! X- `
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
2 O; e7 i. I2 o, c4 q& {artists from Northern Alberta. 7 T( d+ E g* [

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from * J) v4 q" z. H5 s/ }9 `
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video $ C, X( Q+ k# C0 v6 _" ?. X! w
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a + }7 a0 ^" W" i: c2 X
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 8 v6 S4 j" H" v( c: r( J( S& f1 R
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern " S, P7 `! T+ l: M* g( i
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ; z9 v5 ^# a) ~# y$ z+ N
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by + k0 ~# |) N- w+ f
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

" H! x. c/ p" G: Q" i& J- w2 Y! G- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& S2 N6 J) Q. u- ~$ J: B- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities / L6 B8 y; g$ e+ \1 H6 _8 w
- Assist with equipment maintenance ! C G# t, v3 |! q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
0 [8 s" ?: E! s5 o- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 W+ n' Y! l4 N- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
1 }4 W: @ F k+ X# L( T' d- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: & z) Z! F1 t j. m2 E
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
/ Q1 n6 F/ k+ f; B- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment + B; P7 \, L3 s0 `* c3 C
- Advance organizational and research skills 9 D/ L0 ^6 L% ^/ p, Q
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
