' q7 j+ ~& O, T2 e9 N( U& n" OFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
( w' G- Y% m( X2 ]whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

: X; k3 T5 ~+ p0 uFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 s, ~3 [4 O! d0 O5 A. Q- U
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 7 F9 P% \9 N& Q" j# R4 q3 v
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
; W! K! y4 a3 }" ^2 f. nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and " z9 n8 W$ V; K7 c: c9 Z! h4 j9 o
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
' @. _4 Z3 A: G( VDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
; _. T8 H4 L# t: massisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 0 Q! ~* C: f m( O- E

Duties:
3 ~ w5 Z' k( O* v- Assist with research on acquisition grants
[' Z" R( ] x. I- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
8 y6 c+ E6 @2 K& x2 W- Assist with equipment maintenance * s6 i( ^2 d2 K; S( S G
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 0 U' J: H2 w2 E: q7 `# M) u
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 6 c3 D' J( B+ L- D: `* X5 ?
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ; e7 `8 U+ g. K* l- _1 O Z
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
4 u: u3 W" @! W) o" K3 N3 O- Advance organizational and research skills Q7 U! q' r$ h5 Z
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
