% t- f8 Q2 `# _6 n0 S- IFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
* z" f1 W' Y, s* kartists from Northern Alberta.

, r/ _$ [# B( xFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
: G/ C( y' r& f/ P( z/ Q0 G7 N) [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

- C1 R+ L; M& D- EJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
! i! k' E' s5 c) K# V+ LDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
8 A. k5 m8 D8 p) v2 \assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

, X! i2 l% r: g  e& I! a5 mDuties:
* X( n, D4 @/ U3 T( M9 p" q( T& A- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 n, W( G  W; _3 Y4 s8 Z- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 Z5 a8 Q, g5 x+ C/ S; k! Z3 v& Q/ p- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
' x5 x4 W( ~$ n+ p/ e  S$ E: e- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
, v+ a/ f) }: E# T- Provide vacation relief

* G( q* J% S7 {' P! v% ]- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
, V# }' [9 ^6 d9 vsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

. z' }# ~, p6 X5 L. i  ?Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
8 e/ i' x, A. O- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
+ \8 m7 b. L$ t: D- {9 u- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
7 H$ ^" g5 g: }, n" |( e2 R- Strong team player abilities
4 U* q! a# r! ~+ n7 h5 M, b- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
