! @* s# M. T! B( XFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

8 h% Y2 G- R% l0 tFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 h% N, ^4 }8 O0 [and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# t5 {! T: U, A3 Z* Vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. P5 t) u( j) p/ t- Tscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
5 A% n/ X6 {, wAlberta.

  ]8 a: d5 z. u: Q9 aJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. r& e7 r7 {3 Q* T: Iassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
" J* f- q( o- x& q: F: q6 `- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
7 k. H$ C  K2 f4 G% l" n- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! p8 i6 |! `$ |- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
% b4 }- S* L1 [' n( {! r5 H- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
! j! E' `# V7 c0 `6 U; r* u) a, GProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
) d! y( o$ a: D. j+ |- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

3 ~: H3 g" E$ i# m. B& [( I; rQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
5 l; I$ K% i+ h4 }- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
