FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
# q' n; g. c& @, W0 s! R2 ^whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 1 ]' V6 |+ r* Y% r8 ~) Q) C
artists from Northern Alberta.

+ d! }( s( f" ~7 ^emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video

screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 5 x( R/ T; Z5 S9 R6 D+ q

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 V: z# \! I( ^$ ^7 l( a( L. wDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& L. l' r) C! i3 Massisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

& \; V0 m# k) Z8 IDuties: $ f1 T& i5 [6 F9 |; k* g
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
! \. z) w9 t8 z) f$ _; f( l- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities & L* R2 u! \' B1 i. a {# K
- Assist with equipment maintenance / i! N$ w# O, ~" }( h
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 5 W, L; | A) P+ p/ X+ L
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- p6 L$ \0 H1 D7 ~( W) s4 i- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ; M: P2 L3 B2 T
- Provide vacation relief

Program (STEP)
l5 @ w4 M7 t! ]- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-- C1 ]( A) Q$ n
secondary training , G: D5 a& y, |3 m
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
; @6 M; G j9 Z/ x- ^2 }- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
& f5 p* d9 v% N) E/ N0 ^- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts - L4 }6 [7 \% ~% Y$ _3 R
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
m* I# q( P% I% A+ e# b' r& R- Advance organizational and research skills
3 [" O o" e6 P N; u! H0 v- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 1 @7 a+ ^3 W8 D
- Strong team player abilities 7 Z$ T, U& j6 J6 k) ]
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
