& E( m+ ^" e2 }3 F, Q" YFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
) f3 J# d8 p# p( H2 iartists from Northern Alberta.

' X' W' T; R# Y& C; M- fFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) M0 h* }' x. mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
  r3 M: J' k0 rresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
+ u7 ~: x! Q. K1 }8 t; t2 I5 {screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
6 H8 ]5 G/ ?. n) nAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
2 z  M3 x& m; G8 D' WDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
; e' u; s+ v+ S: X# R& o$ k$ k" Wassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

/ L4 f: A* M5 ODuties:
+ Z- j# d, v/ Z, N; R- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
; g: V! ~2 p* e. L+ C' Q1 B- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
9 f& R$ N' d: K$ f3 Y3 z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
2 @7 J: n8 S6 C8 p0 z& g- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
9 \# N( h8 f# s! T8 y- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

! z" E  ^  G. K0 q. s* r( iQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
  k" z% j& P5 L- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
$ B$ }. U1 K+ T6 ]' R- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
