% ~. n, s& C; `9 @. H4 GFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ) ^' s' s: M! c; y4 I, {4 X, U
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

3 L6 M, a0 Z' w$ a' e7 S) RFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 6 b$ p, W! D9 d! j7 N
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 5 G0 {# f. k/ a4 U4 i# S# k9 N1 F
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a * {2 v8 @0 M- M' U5 A! j. z
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

0 I6 m! `. x( R' A1 |- WJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 9 | c* e, F9 ~
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
- x3 m$ e/ i: I. J A' L0 Tassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: 1 }# t! k% j2 l
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
* A7 b. X8 V" e- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
" n7 [' t4 v8 v5 @- Assist with equipment maintenance
% ^" L p \5 N- Assist with production logistics for programming events 3 f2 c# f& d5 `6 [, N* w
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
, }: E% ^1 t! j( u" d/ U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable " v5 n6 Q& k1 v6 n8 s2 L C- E
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-* i$ O. ?3 P5 i! L% N; q+ _
secondary training 5 m* r- o% F2 u, b
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week + k; b/ A* u6 K% x1 c! Q
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
" { D) ?$ A' v- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
7 Q f4 {# ?/ Z7 M1 x- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
! {; m0 C8 I% O/ m3 `7 n5 a6 u- Advance organizational and research skills
2 m4 M+ {2 b/ ]( ~- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD + }, @9 U9 U* p: R! c
- Strong team player abilities
8 V/ I- ^; t7 @& ?. N' q- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
