FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 9 S5 R$ t* O/ L# D2 v
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 6 j: U# C) q4 ~$ t: L
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ; R) |' u; b5 C9 W" E! X! N% {
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
4 A* `# P0 I3 S0 u7 N: cand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- a/ [% y9 L5 ?: W7 R% [resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ! h9 F2 X0 ?: @+ b8 i4 Q
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

3 G8 ^% w% a* z0 G4 G+ eJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ' x5 c( `; m4 {0 S& R0 }. _) n
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 0 t6 B5 t- o2 L/ x" d) M
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ! T! H u$ T; K7 ?" I
# v, w2 a0 h* T/ o- g4 e" SDuties: ; m: N& @9 Q# b" R! B. R
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& }' W8 s: X u4 X0 ?) {6 k: I- J- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities " b( j" I( N7 |
- Assist with equipment maintenance
q( y1 U$ o5 B1 {" d' m- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& K$ [- J) k8 c0 J' U% y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
" r- g6 H- A! N+ E- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable , `1 N( e3 X$ B7 I
- Provide vacation relief 4 x2 E4 \1 g4 y1 ]

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 1 S q; E- X U
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

, \4 w, h8 b) ]" h- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
2 G! P" X8 `3 s( ]- Advance organizational and research skills
- g1 t5 e, n1 f0 c- K E s- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD . X# y/ A+ }/ q6 _
- Strong team player abilities 8 |4 |6 M% V; i) K! E
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
