FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
% O2 u; h* t2 @) g) T4 ^- ]# Iartists from Northern Alberta.

! D& g! x) S6 O" T2 NFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
, x( x, D5 r, a+ @9 E) i! l; Nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% `. p' O) ^3 Q3 `( J9 Jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
+ e* t2 q9 X8 ?5 g- w' gscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: z; v9 L% R1 a4 v( R' ~/ EAlberta.

. r  P$ b6 [" h0 O1 W% SJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
5 ~4 t4 v2 o! p4 `8 O" cassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
; r2 K' A4 [( Z6 `6 `/ J- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
  G2 O# P' z6 C" t3 {* g. j  F3 \" C- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
7 {: F; y0 s2 S1 S, ]8 Q- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
" C8 `  S, Q& `Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
9 D. I/ z# Q4 F: \% u. [9 x! W4 ~secondary training
9 m* G" h8 W: }( `- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
7 {+ i) W' k" s- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

3 R" ^, x( w- FQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
6 |9 D! R, {- j- C  u- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
; s6 R5 A* W, L# s- D- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
