FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
+ H: a% L+ c; S1 Fwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

) @( o& O& p' DFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
. c1 ^, f' K6 Z5 J, Z$ k' {emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ a- j1 F; C0 R% [3 Y8 eand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
0 g5 Y! }7 e, ~/ Y- y8 p  qAlberta.

" h- K3 c, p) y) C7 o* xJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
/ \: [, h( p% J3 v# l' e% kassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

- H6 M8 ^7 e" q1 U: Y8 G: D* C' hDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
9 H9 K; w: Q* \* y/ _. v- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. A5 A# n5 M, s: P/ K2 S5 p5 b- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
7 ^9 s0 ^* r3 X2 ^. f- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
$ ]$ N( k* \' K5 o2 S5 ~4 xsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
" c7 Q& Z. V) Y4 ?( p+ Q- ?3 ~- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
