FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization . I' T( H4 e( p! y
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media , ~+ N: V& G! c; ?8 q. m9 D7 l
artists from Northern Alberta. ; ~3 A1 @+ p0 a6 r

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 8 S6 X/ `$ G& N8 }4 i' w% B! _
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & k# G3 h( D3 j b3 Y
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 t/ N- O% [# l7 I; l2 b9 t
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

- e2 w7 x. c5 _8 g, J# @6 D# MJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive $ t* [5 R" F: q/ h9 [
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
3 m8 i9 r& s5 J8 X6 U- a" ?assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ) J( G5 w" h: y9 f3 {
4 \" a% }/ x0 U! R0 GDuties: 8 J# p0 a: K' s2 ]0 P: Q6 W6 O
- Assist with research on acquisition grants # |3 p1 c g3 Y3 W" T, k5 j8 W5 f
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
. N: j# X7 W! Z- Assist with equipment maintenance " h0 r T5 _: p3 V
- Assist with production logistics for programming events : Z; O3 P8 {. ^& x
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: $ p& c3 d9 l' \# s7 I ]) B
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
4 e& ^6 S ~7 u5 E' r- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment $ [) h1 `" v1 B5 F0 s0 p+ @
- Advance organizational and research skills
; k" ~+ N& G m! y9 N) E- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 9 X, c" w' V& P1 ^
- Strong team player abilities # }% {$ ^- \1 A+ _ Y7 j8 z) i* N4 w, p
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
