FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

# ~! `0 l0 C" K6 b( FFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% t" }5 X7 M- s3 h4 a% p& g' a& Eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
5 |+ L0 S5 b5 y2 E4 c+ c0 Iscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

, G- u4 B6 ^& l# W+ b- Assist with research on acquisition grants
; ?6 G* b' z, y9 X, J3 v- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) ]) I, g$ _% t- T! D- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
. `4 ]9 {* w( U3 ~1 f' ~; d- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
, a' y2 Z" T+ Z1 d5 m( Q8 ]- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
* |1 ]. `$ S- B4 S1 z3 ?; o- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) G% P1 S% D& ?& d- Advance organizational and research skills
% D& w; v# M6 t4 ?9 P% l  u- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
; z$ r& J( ~( H* _, m( p3 `4 |) _- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
