FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* N( ~- j8 H3 N/ C/ ywhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ! K+ a! l& |% ?+ x. D; M
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, f) l6 b3 V" cand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a u4 [% b' _- F8 B+ Q+ M% C" Q9 \
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' s7 t( l; ^' ^/ @4 C1 _screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive , M6 \! @! I1 N" `0 a, ^% X
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
; c) P/ H; `3 ]4 w! Zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. * P1 Q3 M u: k/ n7 U

Duties:
; W0 ^2 |* h9 V4 n ?0 C- Assist with research on acquisition grants 6 ^: N0 a# Z) P, E' ^3 s# I
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities , t* V# b9 m7 ?+ r# X: }
- Assist with equipment maintenance
% ?% B5 k/ p( p( n: s# j- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& U, O/ n) O* {6 K3 M7 s+ a- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff - U, ^& l. |; k1 N5 y
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable % }5 z$ o8 {- D- v
- Provide vacation relief

Program (STEP)

secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
3 I6 Q! X/ D; a2 x: E. ~9 M- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
1 @+ v7 X4 V7 J7 S7 k' G; Q- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment + `+ s' Q- e/ x( `. p) f6 Z, s
- Advance organizational and research skills
0 ?/ [( U. ^) E: l+ L& |- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
