5 E% {4 @. l' s2 |8 L5 j$ `FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
5 I9 n# H) N* m2 [4 E' awhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 3 C7 S) Y) v' S% v/ [5 u9 ~, a

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
b$ T+ j1 ~, l' m: u- k9 `emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video : M# C' y' V; m$ r
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 3 }* D! [+ y2 n3 A; l6 c. R
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. S$ D1 Q1 {% [2 q/ T* R9 Rscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ' v# n" l& ~6 j9 b5 W2 p6 i

2 P* d$ b% T( }( ^. |% e6 lJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive # C9 F( L2 {3 D1 l; t l3 u
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 8 D7 A$ }& \( x+ \( q% ?3 @+ Z
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
+ ?/ o* A4 X$ S2 q5 z) Y- u- Assist with research on acquisition grants V) N: s# B; \' `( A+ K& C
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 3 X& U$ `- p1 i9 R: _
- Assist with equipment maintenance
$ A. r7 s1 _9 X2 j% ^$ f( g. R' e- Assist with production logistics for programming events
* e9 o( y/ t1 f/ `8 n8 l- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff # U& E# S; q+ j0 h% @
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 5 {3 S! M4 ~ P! [2 x& M2 G
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-: s2 O0 L$ k' f! m" D% Q+ P' ^+ ]; e
secondary training + K& b1 s: m, ~+ C/ i3 ?
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
# F% K0 W+ j( c8 U7 A- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 3 p4 s0 [1 u5 j5 o1 ^
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
( a: c2 p& Y+ _- u, C- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 2 i# j" b) _% J; D
- Advance organizational and research skills - x( C' \; K, M5 X( @
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
, f8 q+ H3 ]0 S0 n3 j+ z: f2 Y2 N- Strong team player abilities $ Y& L( t H$ ]4 ?* I3 F0 m7 ]
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
