FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 p6 c1 {$ x+ I" @3 s
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " n5 Z& X; v/ a1 t) e' z0 s
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' ?3 S+ p& s- B6 k& X, |0 Cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

1 s% N0 U# Z6 ]3 g9 K" wJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
" B+ q; A% f) n0 t4 c1 D& oDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by * P1 U3 I* ?1 k- n4 O
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. $ U( h, Y* X4 t

Duties: # r; T8 Y" X9 I) h
- Assist with research on acquisition grants ; r; E0 y- R2 o1 Y+ N! J
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities - z$ m! H6 ^/ ]3 C
- Assist with equipment maintenance
\/ D+ Z0 m+ W, k, d- Assist with production logistics for programming events
8 K3 R* G7 T3 \4 r" K- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
: u. j4 a* u1 E- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 C8 H4 _( _( V- m
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-4 r2 o N8 C5 @$ s3 h; S
secondary training # a! g2 @# t7 p3 N: e0 J& ?
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
5 r! {3 S, V4 a, C- S8 `6 |$ ^- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 5 [4 k# }) Y+ v: v
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( q) O( E/ N& b- Advance organizational and research skills
( ?/ l$ g1 c* C. R: Z' }6 w- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
( u0 O m. z1 H: g- Strong team player abilities + ^; w9 x" W2 U9 ^% z( y/ x4 v1 R
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ; o% a. U# p, U( M! e" ]0 C- d
