FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

artists from Northern Alberta. 7 W/ K' N1 R) ~. v

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 s1 J% _1 X& s! q
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video . @4 r' l% B* w+ G% z
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% ?3 m2 s) H* [+ t) mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and M* e( K* L& k
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

; x: l5 u0 z' J0 tJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 A4 f% N7 Y3 Q, \5 e$ {7 }. a; lDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 1 O, ?& i9 s N) l' h- y
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

+ N; ~( |6 f" f( n4 t1 u5 i- Assist with research on acquisition grants - A; V* m7 G: G
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 7 m# h. \- y5 w8 }
- Assist with equipment maintenance 6 p/ H; I) a8 W8 V8 q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
% ?! Q) x1 ~% Y7 t& _3 u- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff & i# G7 v: b$ d
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Program (STEP)

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
6 i! J' J; ^. S; F- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
3 p2 t( d; \) D/ Z- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment . W1 g& [2 X8 t
- Advance organizational and research skills
# V" y0 k" o3 J$ L* C6 T* ^1 A8 l- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
( L$ d( i5 C6 \* ?$ `/ @* i; j- Strong team player abilities 1 h5 y. E" ~; Q, O7 U" O0 g% o
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
