FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization }& B9 ~) J8 J4 Z0 ^) c
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
! q: U+ i, y; Q3 dartists from Northern Alberta.

# ~! `0 l0 C" K6 b( FFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ) ]! v3 c1 g V* t
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 1 R7 b; q1 F1 X( ~- `/ ]
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% t" }5 X7 M- s3 h4 a% p& g' a& Eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
5 |+ L0 S5 b5 y2 E4 c+ c0 Iscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive , n5 a$ k' _" W, X4 y
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ! E* F4 H0 B& r
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

, G- u4 B6 ^& l# W+ b- Assist with research on acquisition grants
; ?6 G* b' z, y9 X, J3 v- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities $ b8 L' y' p, u) f% L6 \+ Y' Z
- Assist with equipment maintenance 6 a* B! ~4 w/ m- V
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) ]) I, g$ _% t- T! D- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ; n$ v0 L; A* U3 \' M' D$ r
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable # M4 p1 O4 f9 ^" J. Z8 v
- Provide vacation relief

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: % a$ m7 E5 A* F3 n1 J' E
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts c; B/ @8 H9 _* a& L( r& |1 u2 n
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) G% P1 S% D& ?& d- Advance organizational and research skills
% D& w; v# M6 t4 ?9 P% l u- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 6 N& g: h; j% X# z: r
- Strong team player abilities
