FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ; x( B# q' C9 z8 W
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 5 ^( M; ?0 _4 U* N
artists from Northern Alberta. 0 }( [$ l1 W* g' F0 A: O' H6 R; p0 [1 X3 L

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
" K4 s* z! y/ C k0 P) {6 Xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video * Y$ A- w" Q" b) I7 r
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
6 X8 y9 @) b9 @5 H. {resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ( }) o# \. |% D1 O+ T0 v
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

8 k# {/ A) \- F: C6 W' FJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 I t9 A+ V( p4 r A! a& |1 aDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& u1 n- h; @( @9 @assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
& k3 E9 y4 ?+ j# C- A * d3 ]% @/ P' c8 d- N
Duties:
' M" C; n6 r/ O+ }5 O% k" m# E+ a- Assist with research on acquisition grants
. G" H/ n! R; k% X" ^! M- a2 V- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities * C- j; h& I) T
- Assist with equipment maintenance * o9 c% L1 w; I7 A6 ^" D! |" g
- Assist with production logistics for programming events ! w' W" u0 `% _. T7 [
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 4 I$ Z ?; B) D- s$ _! G( Q: f; |
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable . [( _) X# I- v. H* l. D9 G+ N9 {
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-3 k/ R& O) R0 Z

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 4 m. _, a q: M: A) H D& W
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance organizational and research skills
