FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization % D3 h/ J, p3 ]. }3 l6 t& _9 z% u
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from $ {7 _0 D+ ]( W! Y
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
( P. w' K7 r" q4 {- ^& [" tand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 7 d& x( F4 n5 s2 A y; L. n h
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
# m( K! T. H3 m9 mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 8 B& S: I6 ?: H% ^( F

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive + k2 e j0 S6 c. P7 H' }
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ ]3 V6 P$ z; @4 K! Eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. : l6 s4 A9 A+ V( T/ s9 W9 }2 i

Duties:
: m0 ]3 J) V5 g( N" E3 A- Assist with research on acquisition grants ' m6 `, j+ D6 W+ j% Q/ |. ^7 F
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities H: y: @- Y/ Q }; M4 O0 ^) B
- Assist with equipment maintenance % \0 \, u7 c& [5 U4 F9 C4 l, F
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& ^( ^. y: P6 Y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
. h# c$ Y6 [, r+ y- s- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ' e) Y5 y! @1 V; t) L2 B
- Provide vacation relief

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; R$ F" t: S; [: J4 E, z( {. k! V- Advance organizational and research skills 0 g. c0 d. v* z- D$ Q
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
8 p, A+ w7 k7 R7 U- Strong team player abilities
8 E9 k( ^3 E- e \9 q7 W6 [- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
