2 P$ T0 q- T. o; m- I2 KFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* V8 Q" u/ t' R8 F% H3 `2 uwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
( e9 B0 h5 s( s% x4 l% Wartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; G% u7 j9 j# D+ o% J8 Yemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
$ b5 L& j' y1 P+ m+ Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
. d( |5 T9 a. Z! e* nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

1 u/ t! ^9 X4 d) tJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
8 E, A; `- |, u6 zDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
- v3 g( c2 f( g. |assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
; ^0 W# V& k0 _* S+ j' l. L
! c( Y7 i" X( x6 FDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
2 W7 A' u) c& x, }, w! _1 R# s1 l/ S- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
  k/ E: _4 d7 h# x- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- E& @: A9 J2 J) b3 `) s; a, ~- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

; m" g/ ]' M$ e! a% u- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
: k2 }% C1 \6 w* Q  F+ {- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills

- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
