FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
# s: B! X5 ~, Bwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
q% E) D/ g# U- {1 k% \7 `artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from $ S4 l1 }. G, Z6 T% b& B
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 3 q' I! P1 U7 p( g, l
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 7 K. G7 T! d$ ^- D/ D5 q
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 2 ], R/ ]7 t6 {* ]
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

" W3 s3 I2 `; zJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
" t; I/ C2 z0 O3 k H' CDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by + f$ Y" `$ `- ?' P2 Y. o
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ; F. B2 B. f& D& y

Duties: 2 K( F6 _$ q. Q- t
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
! O3 q) i3 M( H% W$ {- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
. G" k* s' y% ?% K- Assist with equipment maintenance
1 K8 n! O; p- N n+ N1 C1 ]- Assist with production logistics for programming events 7 s% p- Z' D. E1 `2 w1 Z' s" X
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
" U( c! e% W- Z2 D- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week * l% Y L. I: [ u' s$ k. e( b
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks ; `4 e( Y* V! ?9 l. O

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
! x, {6 S# i8 w9 w; Q9 V3 Y1 d- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
# c( r/ Y6 g$ e6 x- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment % V4 b/ E% c7 B6 l3 K
- Advance organizational and research skills / j0 Z, w- u$ v! S
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
