FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 1 @4 G" u9 S; y7 ~# n" k
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media . G' e/ ^! z# w+ R' X
artists from Northern Alberta. 5 E" k& k, m! {! C) G! [8 \
' D( K7 e% W( X9 X5 Q8 YFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from

* `+ W: E+ e) R4 o$ kand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% h$ g2 }( |7 H; v5 W- n' hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
$ W: U6 z8 d1 F7 ?screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 7 N8 a7 \3 }. x' X! g( p

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
- i- ]5 f8 A" k: }9 TDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 6 q" @5 D, X. p+ c/ [, x
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

+ z8 Y! C$ {1 t, QDuties:
6 [& s! S9 x, k% c- Assist with research on acquisition grants
6 N! o: g" ~, `% L6 W8 V1 _- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
0 i2 o: Z& j) O# F2 d1 N' q- u. i7 h- Assist with equipment maintenance
! v0 E3 c4 s# ?' i, y2 s3 b0 D: \- Assist with production logistics for programming events
1 M5 F; \& b6 x8 b- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
* r, M9 p* u$ O T% i' ^- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable . q1 \# C. s$ p% ]/ I

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks 4 T# B/ T/ A+ t! k

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 5 n! G2 O, `: \' t: V" J
- Advance organizational and research skills
