FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* b7 Z4 {9 }2 d+ Y4 j* K- s" j ywhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
/ W2 ~& r8 G2 C" E( O: x* ?artists from Northern Alberta. & ?. ?: j( u% w4 G
% c- c* q, Q M0 _! h( [FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 5 D b5 A0 T' M
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
0 R1 x: l/ t% f9 m" U, ^9 S- g- Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 0 _8 [) N r* [$ W+ n! v
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 3 k& Z: u: K! B6 m
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern % |# `( O5 ~8 ~% A# L

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ' i$ h, E( b9 s7 Y0 X% Z; S% O
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 3 d: N. G6 l, ~: v) v& Q y
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. : T: j8 t4 ~: Z( z) f
5 }2 f" k# V' S& M- g7 F! QDuties: % y1 }3 y# E, h9 Y% V
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
4 ]5 ^/ ]4 r$ y5 C% l- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
$ ]6 r2 I9 G8 u! R2 @; A' z ]$ P- Assist with equipment maintenance & N& S9 ^ `$ Q$ n7 v
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
j# W: U" G& m+ r% ?6 a- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : f; \0 P( {8 _8 y; h
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 0 i7 G' @7 I, @+ ^4 f. v/ f
- Provide vacation relief 9 g1 Q- b% a! o& f2 M& a% n! U

secondary training 2 {9 }9 E, T3 W/ \# I! O
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: : G( `7 S3 z6 ~& }* l+ I
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts # I* h& p+ ^4 h& |% }: N7 T
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment / g+ }4 o# }( T2 ?7 C! f4 z
- Advance organizational and research skills * U0 Y% \# ^# d( C3 s: j
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD % c" ?& {& N: a- _
- Strong team player abilities
