$ E( e7 p( I, `' N  s4 e, C$ ^FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

+ E3 i) C% H/ m+ W) Q( iFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
: k# @1 _, F& V& {3 n) Band media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
4 j8 g4 k2 T8 g. g$ gAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
# O+ C, @: x0 L, ^. ^- U) l9 eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
6 d0 l2 ]- e2 N- Assist with research on acquisition grants
! V; Y& p$ _' r- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
, i$ J; h! Z0 M! l- Assist with production logistics for programming events
$ I" A) i- n* I( `4 E/ W& |- v- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
. Z4 S+ m  G1 M7 P' L- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

4 M. {( i9 m3 A' g) Q' R- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
1 p7 }! c: ^2 B2 N! {$ N/ n- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
. S0 z; x: P) B  @# F- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
# j' ^0 m1 Z8 G- h+ D3 x- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
8 ^% m& x* @& {3 D6 `- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
# f0 C: T( G+ B* [2 T7 m6 w9 O% ~) ?- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
