FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
* j& M% K3 R4 r+ P* I( ^5 g$ iartists from Northern Alberta.

7 W7 ^' i8 u* [3 AFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# H  C$ a# C" [) @emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( j/ @; A6 ^, U" _* v6 \% ^screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
9 w# a; A  K( r" S8 s% f1 cassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

7 a! Z7 z5 }+ r0 xDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
4 w' E, ?" i' E+ \3 X: g- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# B/ y" r3 q, V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
5 \3 R: [% U& U0 Q, F- L% E- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
0 U. F6 H4 i+ B0 _+ {  e4 JProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
1 E9 w5 P" @# \+ o& S* i9 Wsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- W$ |$ M, e% w/ v- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
" D" B, E# v3 W, f: n/ _- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
. b; ?8 g- r, ]1 l: f. m- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& K+ g4 K% T6 C3 U# D; Q- Advance organizational and research skills
- U: X+ }) c2 a) K8 U; J7 K- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
  Q( S- c, [7 C/ M- Strong team player abilities
