FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
7 ]% Y q' E7 Y6 j" j1 |/ Bwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media + n0 B4 g6 D5 D7 H
artists from Northern Alberta.

/ P+ R; B) N& @/ ^) WFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ' {# G# ]" A/ J" R* H
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ j6 R( |, `- m* Land media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
4 K% u0 P0 G# x1 fresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and " w5 `! s" b+ `1 W5 S5 I' u) y/ w o
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 5 ~( i8 J" i. N3 U- d
Alberta.

# s E- C2 |$ J$ |Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. N1 A5 g- y& n5 S) A+ DDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
6 L( _) \- K. N3 L5 P/ w% I4 K9 Oassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

& @( x: h/ z( b, M8 b! ~. dDuties: * s# x0 |3 T, Y' J+ V& M
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 1 [0 j$ ?7 W+ n
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
2 Y9 ?4 M9 F$ s; q D* }- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 P1 Y- q" c. E/ y& { w- Assist with production logistics for programming events 2 [1 o# C6 L2 |: E0 ~
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ! X* \4 U. S7 N x7 V5 _
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 1 N0 M3 p3 z# O- |) j: T; t7 J& F
- Provide vacation relief

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment : R. e z) I0 F1 S2 W" I
- Advance organizational and research skills
$ ~1 `6 H# N- G$ O8 s) U- r7 e- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 8 y g1 U0 ~4 U$ A) i' O* ~7 W
- Strong team player abilities 8 s; S/ e$ W& U6 G9 _, |5 J
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ) g- F7 T" s& M
