FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
- q9 Y) i3 P) ^# P# G$ Hwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
& Q; i. b* G, e5 ^! Martists from Northern Alberta.

* I! Z7 V% C$ W2 c2 `' ~FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' ?3 S+ p& s- B6 k& X, |0 Cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
* w) u9 p0 e5 f& J; OAlberta.

1 s% N0 U# Z6 ]3 g9 K" wJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
" B+ q; A% f) n0 t4 c1 D& oDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
  \/ D+ Z0 m+ W, k, d- Assist with production logistics for programming events
8 K3 R* G7 T3 \4 r" K- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
: u. j4 a* u1 E- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

: d! d5 l7 C% q" j- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
0 u( m5 ]" R$ B& y- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
5 r! {3 S, V4 a, C- S8 `6 |$ ^- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( q) O( E/ N& b- Advance organizational and research skills
( ?/ l$ g1 c* C. R: Z' }6 w- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
( u0 O  m. z1 H: g- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
