5 P2 {) B. ^4 G( BFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
7 o  S6 O' Z# l! f# U- v* Qwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
# p) U' F# Y. [artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 z. e: o. ^: i* Y( Q7 q( Wand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

2 k& M) Q# k  u7 cJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
% h* d2 t3 J2 q+ y) kDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

% {' E3 {$ d1 `5 r, W% tDuties:
, ~7 ]. f8 ?/ y/ z- Assist with research on acquisition grants
  h' B6 s; b* g# z+ a- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
; \5 s* O; _- s9 N) M6 T- Assist with equipment maintenance
+ {. J# {0 p$ ~) ]& S- i2 l9 |# B- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
5 Y8 [0 ^5 t. _9 G9 [- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
1 T$ A# ]2 W9 K, x3 ~, C- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
$ u& r3 V( {' x" g7 D# isecondary training
2 K! ]  @5 J7 D) \$ b- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
! s) y$ q$ J8 h: ~* {- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

4 F8 ~. p: I: ?* s( J# nQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
  f) g) N  z# k" \- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
