FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
2 T7 ]/ w- C+ t, A4 R c) d6 H( w5 iwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media + J3 U% x' u" l" O2 f5 f
artists from Northern Alberta. ) ?! ~: i% S( z

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# z# v. a K! P; j f" memerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & v' P; ~" n% A# }+ O; y" e
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ) Z2 }4 K+ C0 ~* J3 E& n) B# a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ) k% H: \& y0 v! Q/ x
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

7 M7 N8 h: E" u/ R D+ `Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
& H2 X& w$ T" |) _Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
! }& l# m! K; \7 {assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

' i" ~5 x0 v) D2 ?+ e% Y6 KDuties: ; O8 u X1 y4 z, ?' a. e
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
! p0 V/ y7 v3 V- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
0 h$ ]) s& x2 Y- Assist with equipment maintenance
5 |& e! X T/ p- Assist with production logistics for programming events ) b b4 s" B) B8 R3 l- r+ W
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 6 x+ ?3 I; V* c: L: U
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts : m1 E. Z' I# O; g, J
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
8 F8 ?- j" I) L" {& N- Advance organizational and research skills
6 r1 \. F2 y. E9 M- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 1 q; {& K" a+ B/ m- Y' \" _
- Strong team player abilities 5 ]9 P$ t r, c+ [+ v4 c8 m
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 2 N c7 r7 t5 l3 s2 U
