FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
% K# u' e  O- c# Nartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
5 ?# x6 ^( C- `, ]7 s- femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( m! T; c, G1 U8 Y) d% Jscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
4 c( [0 A% J' y- r- @( X7 CAlberta.

6 V! r8 R7 f- ?9 k. h  tJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
9 g) t1 H" ~) G: nDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
1 n. e" K: S3 J- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& x- g7 i) w. {- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
* F; A/ _0 h9 E( w% }) j- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
& B6 n2 m' h/ A/ v- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
" u0 C+ {& T( ^& S% @2 Z- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
  }5 D( i* o+ msecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

! ]( n9 ]( h+ a4 S' a5 IQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
9 d2 }" d+ ~# m- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
. C; H/ F6 Y  V4 P- L, x( W, i8 N- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
: Z* F/ p) \8 P- ^- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
( o" ?$ x, }1 L; g. [+ W- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
