& ]; w) G; e4 [) \- l8 G7 KFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization $ F5 q* m/ w( ^2 v$ V3 a/ Q! r
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# H+ U& |) r' T. k/ L( U: I$ w+ remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 R- k7 e A; X, u9 oand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 {6 L5 y7 z- L1 A: [resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 4 G5 n9 @$ I9 E" q/ z. e' [: r8 d
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

- y* G8 _7 o; o7 T' [2 VJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive & m" L/ B* p1 h$ X) Q' A+ L
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
) e+ P3 w! A/ h" z% O4 `/ e8 oassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ) f7 b8 Y% w' k/ s4 U+ l
1 c+ E5 c+ d- ~# X( w
Duties: 9 P+ B3 h* Q% }7 ~$ p
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
' r: f3 n0 |, l7 D- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities $ L$ T* Y' x6 K) t: j+ H9 T
- Assist with equipment maintenance
. `0 ?) h: j9 \! b4 L* ~; {- Assist with production logistics for programming events
! f6 J% h s/ T3 K5 c- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
' O) y& P' W5 g5 J6 i1 m' \- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable + r5 N8 d6 @% N# E4 m/ b
- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 8 i8 [% O/ c& D2 w7 U
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
$ S! Y1 |5 K: K6 w- T- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
4 O( b* [* x4 d9 j- Advance organizational and research skills
$ g* J* g5 f. a. ~/ [% W- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 2 v. U7 t1 G% L" D
- Strong team player abilities & r( ?$ M$ u; O1 A# q
