FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 6 B# _& ]6 H# O$ |
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 p- `/ Z f3 T8 i; @/ @+ Nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ' A$ W9 n& Y2 \' S' O4 u
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a * `5 ~! X$ ]6 x/ l' H
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and # l+ F" D) b2 f2 A- f& K
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
" P: ?7 m3 i2 P" N& X1 K! G; TAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ( g/ y! ^4 X. J4 E* w
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
p2 d3 p* h, F: @" I( ?2 U/ \1 U+ ?assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 2 J( E8 ^3 B/ G: b: Y8 q4 O
g2 W* V; t# ^& z: d* L) \( A0 l2 ^Duties:
+ j, S" i4 G% j) ~9 \- `4 j# f- Assist with research on acquisition grants ( D1 @; @8 ]3 Y; f
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities : g4 C U8 J5 l6 ^
- Assist with equipment maintenance 9 n, X+ T. S9 R) ^5 N7 t
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. h1 S9 r6 e& M- y9 A- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ i+ R5 x+ y1 @, H: v3 U7 g) `- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ( F+ Y- R, z$ z* [
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts , e; q; A/ Q: {" P* V7 I/ i2 ^* A3 v+ I
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment & t2 s9 e' j. |4 f0 l: t
- Advance organizational and research skills
& @ i7 [4 i/ |2 \7 U: N0 d, @% g- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
