FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization # \* N4 F" ~, Y4 e7 G4 u
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
4 @& n/ _/ N) c/ K% }artists from Northern Alberta. 7 Q4 ]+ B6 l1 s' Y" v4 O
. Z' H3 F M1 D+ FFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 ^9 ]& u+ a# f% u% j2 \) nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
" o. \( U) [5 h$ cand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 4 g9 ]6 i) p. t2 F9 Z5 f; f; q
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
, f3 W- g7 v: Q0 q& F2 i' ^screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern / o3 R. M: j# @
Alberta.

" s2 v9 L( F" U$ uJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
3 c0 `8 o& [9 A6 K5 `) u' q' JDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by + j! y0 S( ^; r
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; v3 n3 t5 `# U$ XDuties: / g' v" g" t7 ~& o/ H ]
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 M' L$ H1 A2 ~9 P- f- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 2 v, L- y+ }, t6 r8 j
- Assist with equipment maintenance & x5 z% N6 x. E
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& h" S5 K% Z# M- I6 d- x- b- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 3 d, q! P( p; w4 N
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 1 m5 }( [2 B* s5 `, B7 \# N
- Provide vacation relief 2 F3 R5 r1 w* l0 |1 h' {

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& X8 R" m; j' R. a# `4 W- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: # b P1 k, n! c/ l& M1 t6 ]# }* O/ |
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ! V4 d1 J, r0 J$ \- ]5 ~; ~
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- V% y& C7 ^! D1 T- Advance organizational and research skills
1 G4 p* f1 G* n8 l6 o- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& L( ?$ w0 z" `! l, O- Strong team player abilities ! k V, { T& N6 p+ Y- B3 L
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
