FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

" f2 P1 P( U2 k# E% m! n$ hFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) b! g6 N! @7 K# Zand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
3 k; B& ?& n3 Jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
" O7 O3 z/ `( T$ Y  A8 P0 y" yscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

9 W$ D! j. _5 G$ ^. o  c/ [Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
( S* _8 \' B! S% ^( m3 [/ XDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

$ \/ @0 ~' o) ~/ p& wDuties:
# X+ Q5 ^2 w' y' v- Assist with research on acquisition grants
3 o; A6 z2 G/ c- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) K  g  g& `# D3 Z) j- Assist with equipment maintenance
1 f6 H, n3 J, ~- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ P5 H7 \5 d9 F  w) \% h  f0 c- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
9 D) \8 E5 h. s- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
6 U( _% {7 X) W, ]3 g, t& T- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
* X7 N0 u9 l4 L. w7 i% \- }( w3 _  `- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

) @/ \, Q* S/ t! t6 |Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
  Z( E1 J: d* v) K- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
! o3 p3 X7 ?' n! j  j5 W; \- Advance organizational and research skills
: ~& K2 l/ T; E( T/ _& l- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
# B+ \8 f" c* j- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
