FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 1 H! y& {! [& m& y& K, `5 z
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
* j& M% K3 R4 r+ P* I( ^5 g$ iartists from Northern Alberta. 5 Q0 R% B! \! Q g1 s; z, m9 j) R+ ^
7 W7 ^' i8 u* [3 AFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# H C$ a# C" [) @emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & k) ^0 n; H! c/ K6 D: o5 ~
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 1 F$ {! z' x; T
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( j/ @; A6 ^, U" _* v6 \% ^screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern # ~0 `/ R6 O. x$ Y

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive N* g: m- w3 N6 P
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
9 w# a; A K( r" S8 s% f1 cassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

- Assist with research on acquisition grants 6 Y4 f# Y, p E q
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ) `. |" T0 Y$ T6 ~/ z6 ^. u
- Assist with equipment maintenance ' ?; u. y H0 i" `; Z4 O: P+ q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
4 w' E, ?" i' E+ \3 X: g- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# B/ y" r3 q, V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

. b; ?8 g- r, ]1 l: f. m- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& K+ g4 K% T6 C3 U# D; Q- Advance organizational and research skills
- U: X+ }) c2 a) K8 U; J7 K- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
Q( S- c, [7 C/ M- Strong team player abilities
6 k3 R1 ?: M9 ^" m, Q! F9 y- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
