3 V3 X! o) _/ q9 @6 h% HFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

4 f7 H+ e% B* C3 |" G. JFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
! ~6 T' X# k* ~! I& a$ [( d6 remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
: F, [4 J% L; Mand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
' Y$ v6 G- R$ H6 RDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
9 |/ z, g* s$ B/ M, m2 {; H- Assist with research on acquisition grants
0 H- [. L' K% G0 Q! h* _- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
5 K  }/ d3 N  V0 ~6 B- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& x4 f* G! R2 }' G& b* o- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

% F8 {  l: ~0 x5 k/ U- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
0 y' B# [% V, Q" D- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
1 Q# S! T9 Y2 ysecondary training
- t% L+ G: }7 q" l- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
4 \* c% `" N' ]- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
9 A  s/ p9 M4 h1 {+ x" z- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
