9 f5 J* R. N' FFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
& v2 R0 B# }+ i/ |9 _: |whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 7 @ [* \2 N5 i$ t* G
artists from Northern Alberta.

1 s0 _4 L; o' nFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ; w. n" F9 A* H; ]9 i9 K- v( P
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
$ g) T v- Z, yand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a & e* `2 K a3 {% b: I, C0 B6 G* U" p
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and & V, I" h0 V3 W" e
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 0 k8 p! K w& f% D3 g
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
! x9 F. P0 b' }- C; V7 _assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 0 o3 `( ~2 Y5 a" j! e) `. w
4 j9 q! W& F1 o) [3 p
Duties:
/ k0 u% w6 e; i; r2 x5 ]4 y- Assist with research on acquisition grants
( { @. y/ N* @# Y. X% w; @( l0 D* x+ I- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities . L% A2 O- k2 u6 {7 N0 B/ m t; z
- Assist with equipment maintenance : C$ ^- e1 x/ R# q1 s$ R6 W/ B+ z5 t
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 0 q: u9 f' y: ~' s7 F1 a
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 6 I5 q, [0 }- o Y1 _% {
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ( \) [2 {8 B. H# ?* _7 `1 t
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: $ f6 ?" z9 ~$ y' ~# J
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
2 f) w9 k# \' I! t- s- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
0 j" v* t2 `$ ^6 W& a3 m9 u- Advance organizational and research skills 6 x5 O( \; D$ N8 q# Z
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 2 d" I. E( h y# I9 y) J
- Strong team player abilities ) S/ A8 \$ y+ w$ f7 j1 N
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 0 m6 k% P4 l% E! z
