2 [0 p4 X: N" t2 Z' wFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ( t0 S' Q( f1 r* q9 _
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 1 \# P# g2 |" B, d$ v, B
artists from Northern Alberta. ' P! g( \+ Z" Y! D9 B* @

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 8 X+ [! b/ v7 i; w* i
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
# W& N) o$ ?4 l0 I" rand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
8 I7 F- ^% `( O# H7 }1 \resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and / b. E1 T3 r T* J5 ?" Q
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

# s; B) _" C( G; u1 tJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
% l8 |% u/ M- p0 A, x: }+ KDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by / Z; e0 s) U3 X A: k. Y
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. # J$ q; @$ q% n) E+ |

Duties:
8 f! W' f+ c& t) S I1 q5 ^- Assist with research on acquisition grants ' J4 K7 Y' R0 S& I) ~( p0 p }
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
* a3 N# A, |4 A O8 k5 {. N4 x- Assist with equipment maintenance
! n* c ~" L1 k! V( C) S) B- Assist with production logistics for programming events
+ m2 S/ b- k" i- e5 a4 N- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
9 s, v: m6 G! P' P+ j2 w2 |- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 L4 l' {/ P: M1 Q
- Provide vacation relief

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: % |6 t4 w0 {9 S: J
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- x. J+ ]! Q8 `3 ~- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 0 g# n" W' z8 x3 Z5 i* C# p
- Advance organizational and research skills . a5 \) _& G4 O4 v
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD " X! A8 N$ r @$ n2 n6 L( Z3 B
- Strong team player abilities
