FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
4 X; ~2 y" Q* s, F8 @whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
e5 a, `! W7 s2 w- }artists from Northern Alberta. . z0 M# z$ E! W5 N0 \
4 j2 t U' m4 V3 }) nFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from " q1 [. G6 z6 w7 T
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
7 G m h5 F. z: B9 j$ iand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 w# j$ V3 r. \
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ; j% N8 `. a& `2 G$ r
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

- w: S# L( U' i# C/ H* Z+ xJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 4 ^8 M7 }; J& J$ m K
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by - ~; M. N6 p& r. Y6 n
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: ! P" y1 C3 U7 t
- Assist with research on acquisition grants + a) ?6 N( c$ R' `; c# H$ e
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities * @3 b# U' J4 J. V, p9 D# s
- Assist with equipment maintenance
+ u9 B, y& B4 Q: J' ]4 c- Assist with production logistics for programming events . _, _, i0 K. M- M" u) W1 v
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
+ g3 P" ~+ R: X# d& q- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable & A" p. M) y, \4 ?4 d5 T' N/ D2 Q T
- Provide vacation relief @( y5 c: F& [2 A$ _- M

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-- E/ U* |. p! G3 S
secondary training ' {$ I e/ v. X t% {
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
