FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 f" j( ^6 B' w7 C5 x
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
5 g6 u$ p ^' l3 |* a# uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " G1 B, P0 G, V P0 N. x8 A2 r7 L' ?
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) f+ ?% y2 U* M% i2 ^screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 7 l( `$ T0 V% F$ v6 N8 g

2 D1 |+ N2 H7 cJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 8 G5 a% l' y3 B" u7 X# j
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ' S0 r- }9 U: r* z1 j: @# J
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
" X9 d! m# Z7 E. U: n3 M. K' T P- Assist with research on acquisition grants % e. \5 e2 V9 G- R
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 2 Y! r5 b- P J K' ]) W
- Assist with equipment maintenance 6 e) m7 }% V4 B( |
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
% K% B) l7 W0 q+ ^- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ o6 ]. ?" S" \: Q4 _& u- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable & L, f, w2 Z) B9 ?) K. J# ~
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 0 h7 M6 |! o2 H# Q3 d
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 3 x' D) B3 o e9 m& ?' Z2 T
- Advance organizational and research skills
+ M" a. y/ ?, `+ A7 B" l2 A D- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
" e8 q2 M( b2 I+ `# e- Strong team player abilities
