% q: R8 y0 q: J* O6 P9 OFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

0 N; C* d) H  p. |artists from Northern Alberta.

* _9 p' |, o1 f& r6 w3 w4 ?emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 w8 N/ O) W0 I9 W! ]and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

( }4 h4 d# @0 ~9 n" [Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
  w5 M9 \5 q  O" X0 @Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

% i( @+ t0 }, ~Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
: ?+ ]3 N6 z# a& ]- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
4 O- \) ^' o5 b% F9 i( z- Assist with production logistics for programming events
8 J. r6 _* [8 R4 f. ^# U- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
# a6 ]" b( E& dsecondary training
  [4 s5 Z. [; Z& r- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

( w3 w* a; \" V' }Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
  i/ @/ r! V) N" u) p- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
5 X. C, m  L+ {  _4 @; k0 F  ~- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
