FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 2 C: S w3 g& d& j+ Q
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 2 Z0 L9 ^! r+ u- b. L; k& a
artists from Northern Alberta. : I0 M& a( b& H1 r# N5 R
) U& q- I% G$ p$ T$ [/ v0 MFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 5 s9 e0 C8 {# S2 {, i1 S5 _
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
% f, |& u5 t! ?: @5 L8 |+ q1 Xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a # o! L, J) ]2 f0 L
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and % }7 P) i0 j: u# k6 s
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern : c' u0 o6 i# W' C
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ! G8 }( R% O9 z7 A$ w) A: z, x* W
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ( u: o+ V& p( t( u. W- k
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 4 E2 K& U8 ~9 ]; }% Q

Duties: 3 n: \( n& _3 b) g- {! k% l/ p/ l
- Assist with research on acquisition grants * ?8 |% @" `$ c' ^( F7 q' T
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! `, F1 b3 s! J& b5 }, _6 P' Q- Assist with equipment maintenance 0 e8 \7 {4 M, g) h! J
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& T* q( o: x; ~7 |" h6 C- m. ~$ _- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 d7 y2 D) G$ J x2 e- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
2 T( N5 a9 a8 ^0 {0 z- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 4 q" w" j/ L0 u: R( \
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
7 q6 m8 u# ~3 f2 B4 j# m0 k0 S- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
1 q. ^1 v5 A* a' Q0 h5 w- Advance organizational and research skills 7 T& b' s9 h. w) w
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
' t/ e2 H1 M7 r6 @( F! q- Strong team player abilities % E0 M5 a% T6 _5 r
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 9 Y' N; K7 b* d/ b2 j
