FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
+ T# O* q( |4 v7 G8 K' R( X* Bwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
& _% c- H# B! A8 Fartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ; h7 V+ }" A3 Y/ L
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video " _* f( S! K* d6 C5 h i
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% k }# e5 w6 S( u1 U8 `$ j/ iresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ( T4 K" L* p6 e" P# M
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern - U# k8 k/ z( l3 d- `) N
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 {2 i6 f- Z+ P# u# E2 qDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 3 `. x! r7 {* I3 {* c; E' @
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
# X1 l- c" U8 z" l- Assist with research on acquisition grants
1 t6 a1 z1 v: U) Q6 @ n& x( A- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities - o/ x, b" L" }2 E* @
- Assist with equipment maintenance
$ `5 A4 Y$ m" f+ a4 y+ e' T) ~- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 n& J8 c! t3 _9 z, ] a4 K; \- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ( T4 y) x2 S* Y3 I. I7 [
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
4 u+ c* l* |8 q8 q- Provide vacation relief " b9 M9 D7 ]5 S; Z& Z8 I/ I

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment

- Strong team player abilities
