FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ) A' O: v2 `0 X* i+ z/ M8 ]% Z G
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media ; H9 N: S. @/ ^+ m

" k/ G2 C& l7 \FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 r n9 s) j) I6 n2 R+ Yemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
" E: r: g* q; w$ l4 t2 hand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 Q, D% ^$ U6 g+ K: e [
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and * B" p! T: W1 g H& |
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
4 n" @$ O! @7 S* N* M DDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by . F: q) Z# J$ o8 U# d9 n
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 7 g0 K, q% ?6 { F9 I8 ?

Duties:
& L. K7 S5 i/ o- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 i' _. A& J% |( m- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities * k0 k* f3 K9 y6 b) t
- Assist with equipment maintenance
, l& H. N! } m' E8 M. e- Assist with production logistics for programming events : j3 ?7 ?+ `- \5 E+ \6 t5 N
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
% k* ]* }4 I6 d6 I; z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 9 c0 ?1 A) X/ r' I- u0 n
- Provide vacation relief " z! T& ^' A6 N& _& i T

secondary training

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment & y2 b3 P+ z M" t- [& [6 @" o
- Advance organizational and research skills O8 p4 V- R; a
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 9 {! v3 ?: f! G! d3 L9 W8 o
- Strong team player abilities
