FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
! \- {. [! j! U7 e3 h9 iartists from Northern Alberta.

8 q9 _( @6 g+ Y9 q% X- DFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
3 B( d; j, v* Nemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
7 Y* Q! g5 z: `' r7 band media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

- D* @% v/ _. L) d8 nJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
/ f$ c! a6 z/ n) J% i8 y" ^% y6 qDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

2 E2 ^5 T# J% Y- Assist with research on acquisition grants
% S# V3 F' p5 \4 P- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
4 i- {& N& b8 d: o- Assist with equipment maintenance
4 D6 N4 b# d5 I) ?- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
5 H1 Y# v, [1 t- l$ D. M5 H- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- o: D% ]; M$ A9 H1 [- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

: d+ b0 ^7 h* Q- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; M+ s& D1 `* u$ R$ u- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
+ @/ `4 J8 `) ^% k6 p5 }, Y5 ?- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
