4 }4 S) T/ \: b  q/ h& E! o) yFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
# C- \  p2 ?7 C' |whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* Z: X2 v: K/ z2 ]6 iFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
! P; [4 U7 e& {2 y7 Bresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
% M" q1 E: R* s# g. rscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
3 L8 ^* t0 y( z& G! iAlberta.

' \% E( O: L9 N2 ^) D& GJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

8 K, v# e! A" h9 s# n! J+ ^9 n- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 A1 N+ C& N. w) [; X- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
7 ]  t2 z# L/ ]' m. F1 x& K0 D- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
0 I1 u% e$ a/ z6 D+ _' S- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
! @; \) e  g9 \, `- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
; C8 N" }; W5 Z( Q. P' r. I- Strong team player abilities
