FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization . B7 E v* ~3 D) e* u2 l
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

6 b. T. U- @% VFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 D% a$ ^) B: U! C
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, W5 w7 d6 x8 a+ Eand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
0 }6 b# d2 e1 v4 z& h; T+ t, w/ d$ Vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 2 K6 M5 u6 \2 L5 v) d7 w8 I
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive * f+ w* ~% b4 w
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
* A' D; b& M: A; q9 \# kassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. , d2 o8 N2 }. ]& Q; B! A

- Assist with research on acquisition grants
. S' q, i" _, s$ c- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
9 ^9 m, j& R" S( a- Assist with equipment maintenance . X1 [0 [$ K6 l; \+ {+ n
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. v3 i2 T1 f! F/ h- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 9 G" K" b: D+ F2 ^8 L
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
9 D2 w; G, L; h0 S. l! F- c- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 D, u' b8 E+ a* I- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment / B6 }: z; [9 g) t+ l
- Advance organizational and research skills
x) K: m0 q7 B% ~ ^' e: `- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
* M) X3 F4 V& S$ C. E( e* T7 r- Strong team player abilities : v6 u" i3 o3 ?9 h; C
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
