[+ y- E w( Q1 r$ I( Y) fFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ) @% L' S$ q& n& f5 z
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
) h i' F& ^4 |3 rartists from Northern Alberta.

. b1 @; J8 x: _. N$ g$ A2 IFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ' f, k7 e( d$ {9 t9 [$ }4 Z9 U
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
4 a! l) d, k7 qand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a / q+ n5 F4 t) _( t
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
8 f! p# F/ F- q' X6 @, S+ f4 r1 g9 ^screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ~2 c! {* B% b( Y$ w1 B r

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
2 w8 ^- c# X1 r, U x$ p& MDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. a1 M" J- N8 |assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. / Z! G# u" Y7 w, }6 q9 P* |% c$ ]
5 u: r7 I% M3 i$ P7 s. i! r4 JDuties: , N3 s1 P) @4 U( @8 i' B, N, n
- Assist with research on acquisition grants - {) Q3 q; w: j- r3 v% f7 _
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ _ X( ]: q0 T ^/ h0 b1 [9 I' k- Assist with equipment maintenance
* N; ^. ~) h; ^- ?) K- Assist with production logistics for programming events 4 f; i$ T% d0 n9 A2 L4 S1 G
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
+ N- U* }5 d3 t- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable , S, P$ `5 b4 m" ^6 M! j) h
- Provide vacation relief

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ( O$ D2 F$ k1 @
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
+ a4 @& d' a8 y% @- ?- Advance organizational and research skills
7 v. I9 _6 w( ]3 M/ o, N- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ( z! c1 w* w' H$ [7 i" A( z
- Strong team player abilities
