FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 2 ^' H8 R6 J$ l, I9 L) z
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 6 V: b# w: F& {' N }2 i Q- I! \. G
artists from Northern Alberta. % I+ c& ^4 n, E" t! \ r6 Y/ n/ @- x
& H2 p" n* l6 Q; w8 _FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 5 s; d( d3 q& j5 g& E3 r! O
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
0 S% J7 Z' O+ ~5 sand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( J x8 H& M7 K1 {9 L- ~resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and % N: V2 y5 g M* `7 X& z8 O
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern * O Q2 L, b3 J" C d$ a8 n

8 j+ o/ X, U1 |0 R4 h* @: mJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
! x3 {5 l. n: l! h' X- j% nDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 1 J: M! Q0 c& ^) R& f4 r
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; w6 x! I' g" S$ t- Assist with research on acquisition grants # C' N# ]7 k5 `6 t! r+ ?
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 9 H# K3 }7 ^* t5 ~% {" p
- Assist with equipment maintenance 9 | i% q9 N0 J
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
+ w3 d+ c3 }0 x V0 Q) `; [- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff X! P# r/ G* ?: @% s9 L( g
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable . U! A8 O$ g) K5 \ g. ~( ?
- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: c7 S5 W1 e5 K% z& A
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts $ n9 e& k9 W4 Y9 m
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ; [' f$ y9 V8 W+ |
- Advance organizational and research skills
7 b% O& d: g7 a. f1 u/ A% X- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ; _3 B) \6 a( D' H/ J
- Strong team player abilities
; F$ T) s: Q3 @: l' U- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
