FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
+ w; Z$ _9 X# P8 v, a6 y' H7 T" M6 E4 pwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
, f0 L! o! p, x! Gartists from Northern Alberta. ' n0 d, m7 [8 y, c9 _( w
) ~* i/ Q3 [8 P$ p& CFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
1 x1 N, E% {* a* v- D1 E( gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 7 }6 Z8 \( u* V: }
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 M- J0 \9 h$ ?# }resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and + s: T& ]! ~5 V( g
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
% u( p6 w) E, U% sAlberta.

# k3 b* q! m! e1 gJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
2 R! c" V1 k" [" n2 [8 C' o# ?6 yDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
5 I N& u' e7 t. b/ V3 X* |. Xassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

! n* }+ C6 j. Y7 D: v! Y$ e! l- Assist with research on acquisition grants
2 u1 I' |/ J9 I* p5 Y. z' ?4 g$ p- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) v0 |) V+ Z, W- Assist with equipment maintenance
* a( X! t( y! L7 F& |- w- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. g% r6 o- |+ q6 f: Y( J- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff / _9 S$ Q* H8 A% }0 D+ s, n
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ' o: `6 E9 ^. J& M
- Provide vacation relief / F0 }/ p& V- s `

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-6 t) D0 l2 X @) s/ R

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week , q$ h) A. M) u: v
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
5 W1 L; N6 P4 S# `- y. ]9 N- b- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
" E9 W5 T+ b- o8 f R- Advance organizational and research skills 5 g% ^$ v" ?4 I3 w- Z
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
W e* ^: a0 f, P+ `( b1 p2 E- Strong team player abilities
