FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization : V: G5 a" c9 |9 U1 X* ~* x& D
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media % \8 _# ` O# U+ R! _: I
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
( ^9 g5 I4 ]3 O$ w! n2 ^' Bemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 K. E! ^! H& U- }
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
+ L* N1 t; |* I- bresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
7 ?6 g3 T1 Q" j- t" pscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
- X" {" L# s1 G5 SAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
, E' v; q- H! S' H" fDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 7 s* z$ S% T* n1 H
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
. E% q9 D! d7 f; _- Assist with research on acquisition grants 8 D6 n, u. q3 J8 O) H
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
: G+ ?8 B( d$ @/ P! a0 |3 u- Assist with equipment maintenance
- i- g5 r0 t* ]. x/ e- Assist with production logistics for programming events
6 I( ~4 S9 Q; }# U/ b' y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
9 D& `2 K& ]; y- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ; X f& S$ c5 t+ i
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week / `" ~) ]! d1 m3 I: ?5 w
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 6 e6 V# r4 k* c
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& r) c/ [- u. e4 T; _& Q- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
" R& ]$ H+ G0 Y" Z) S- Advance organizational and research skills / Y# k$ f) K4 j% M
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD - p( Q6 o" D4 |8 s4 D) e
- Strong team player abilities / I/ U" g1 [( ~5 Y* U$ \! a; U
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors ) E! `' _6 ]; r
