  D' C4 O. Q5 _- M4 T3 `+ |3 D/ `FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
/ D9 r2 b) s# jwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

1 a+ ^- Q; }+ gFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
& Y8 T  h5 c1 L/ A) i' nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
$ {! q& e- S% L8 H" }: n  p! gscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

; m2 v1 P% c2 p% W3 VJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
* g7 V+ A4 r& Z# m& sDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
6 }1 b, I- d% r, u9 a2 J, Qassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
5 Z- J7 K$ L1 r3 P1 I; D
Duties:
# N# E( J" s: U! ~4 C8 ]- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
* l2 y( I( t0 h7 s/ R- Assist with equipment maintenance
8 v/ n* R# u) A* ~1 j/ y6 t- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ Y# q! N) |& f7 z% N) T- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
, @3 H4 d6 H; q- C* H- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
4 D  P! {8 n* v( bProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- r: y  |0 [/ [- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

5 O6 |" F: Q% h' ZQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
% l, s- ^. }; z6 b) H- H- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
8 ]4 \# J/ Y: `( B( R. f- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
1 {( V* r3 {* x- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
