FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ! ~4 C& x8 t o1 R$ X9 C6 F
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media " V- y; n: R% P' e5 ^3 H1 Y5 P+ b7 e
artists from Northern Alberta. * C* o+ i6 o/ h6 w: a5 Y
( W7 }$ k8 x2 ]& h9 d2 w2 @FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% z V3 b0 W' e2 S0 ]2 F, semerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
0 R9 u! U, Z3 I i- ?+ Iand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 d& p1 k) X+ Y3 r& Wresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
6 C3 g" w8 Q& V* n6 Q7 Oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
+ _7 T2 {" s6 ZAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
8 {" f. c O+ W6 R6 c( C# R- g7 F$ z- CDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by $ F$ m. D* n( L& y
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: ' F& L) g8 B( O: X# v
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
) _- ^% {8 {& a0 F% s5 D4 b- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) t# g+ o) i% P" a$ y$ ?- Assist with equipment maintenance % k% b! ?$ m! n. |
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 1 o7 {$ M S) P2 F$ R
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# P1 L. [+ S2 e8 q) `+ t$ ^( ~0 K- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: / M& i+ E% O# t% S9 D, P
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
4 Q2 K! @" z5 m( G7 L# x& Z8 s- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 0 O3 e( s# X/ Q6 W, q$ {+ O' d$ Z
- Advance organizational and research skills
& v3 e$ Y3 M& T7 W- b- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& m2 ~1 M4 F2 F( [- Strong team player abilities
