FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
: i- p0 A, G. I8 H( B+ i" U bwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 2 j1 `- Y0 c6 O) L" T/ Z1 V
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- t6 V" j' }2 ^" x) J* y; y- [emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video . |' ^0 M5 a! Z' e
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
* {, p& a6 S, q! Mresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
; t; M, X7 j& ~% l% P& ~screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ( l1 r& D" } ^+ K. ?& p

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 W" O4 s2 f+ ^4 i. Q* {Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 8 U- f! z9 A8 \
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

) ^ x% R {- K ^. t+ m; yDuties:
( m9 h# U+ v" K. y- S- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& @( k* |8 n3 [7 M/ ]4 w- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities - i( S' |8 i4 ~) E: G
- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 a4 k9 G( A$ t! u3 H- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 ~7 T( N/ L2 m9 `( Q- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ |# j# \* u; d. k5 v* U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
* D! O, _ U; q5 |- Provide vacation relief

Details:

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-1 E I4 C( i6 S9 R
secondary training
) q* U. r+ N$ h* D) T. j u- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week ( v* w& P- x# B# G# o3 r4 ~' u
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

& o0 W+ M; O# G. V0 S3 y3 ?- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 9 m3 S' A! w0 C) l& h" n
- Advance organizational and research skills
8 T* _7 g- p/ M- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ! j$ d2 A: T* |% D6 B9 x* \
- Strong team player abilities
; Y5 ~0 o9 ~! s& `1 d* e5 X, R: P( D9 P k- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
