FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 2 t! C* t: V1 C, v8 z
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- J* ^* P6 G; P9 V$ Z' F/ e9 }emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
/ ^5 y& Z/ y/ p; x0 Y7 g% Xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 6 t/ r$ B4 |8 M: _1 F, h0 [& [& P) {
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and F! D h+ ?. {2 r! @
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

& U% ?1 n6 Z; E) N# uJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 7 ]: A! T# z+ {; ?! N4 U0 a
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
3 F* d/ `( ?6 w7 M; W& Iassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 4 k! b! o- m3 n ~, W: `- u
4 t; ^) g5 d! F. K5 I9 f
Duties:
* w G" s0 X0 r$ i5 g* r- Assist with research on acquisition grants
* F' b# F. d! C/ k M+ M- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities . Y3 M1 P& A- x# Y P5 w
- Assist with equipment maintenance [6 J4 g4 d: @/ K$ {/ e$ y3 i
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) X9 Y* I4 b' _- M- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : t5 I: `6 s `# D* j3 j
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 1 [; E3 _3 Y4 s- d5 S7 i! W, c. q
- Provide vacation relief . X3 U p" I% I

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
4 F& b- B* E7 j6 Y* I- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 4 }0 A, c6 K* B, @* Z! e" Z
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) ^/ x* k* {7 D2 K- Advance organizational and research skills
3 R" N- S% W3 p: r8 Y Z- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
% N @, T* ]3 R$ r7 t/ o- Strong team player abilities - W) I$ x% P' t3 A
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
