- C. R; L- E5 s' g$ R# x9 kFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 8 S$ g2 r& Y9 o
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; ?0 `4 o+ G: h# f( |+ f2 y3 P4 cemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video % l& h* \9 Z; k, h- W: n. M
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a * [- g# A6 v& \. C+ b+ t
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
$ U- E; `0 G+ rscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ' c6 A+ a9 h1 J5 n3 \. q8 v3 r8 Z/ q

) V* k1 J) M& O( f' D5 h% HJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ' m7 V8 Z, u4 j4 x
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
2 }& x% a+ V5 m6 B1 E, i% j( Eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. / [! g {0 t' _
0 o) J9 j9 p+ _6 m9 c
Duties: 4 c# [( k9 h! k0 g
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
1 W+ w: t8 }3 a; p" Y% q% C# j- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ C# `9 l) d; F/ p* ]& Y- Assist with equipment maintenance
% J6 ^; d; {* q% F! X9 a0 W. P- z- Assist with production logistics for programming events ) J' _1 k3 S; d9 p! H3 a
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff # e1 W/ x1 }: k
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 |1 I, N0 x. H) @' r, t( O9 \
- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 8 K8 x* x* w$ L+ n
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
( S* C$ U- y8 X- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment , S2 X+ G' B% _3 v/ I. q+ Y4 u
- Advance organizational and research skills % M" S) g* f* H; @! |
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD . N9 f% Q, [2 I; b
- Strong team player abilities ! v. i% Q: g% h/ j8 A$ W
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 9 |; o* T9 n: ] V6 o( d
