FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
3 Y$ N8 v/ ~4 W, X! p+ s; gwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* l8 F$ s% r0 oFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' p6 b) `$ f5 a4 L2 gscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. T6 l9 h2 c' `1 VDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. \; }) b+ z' wassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
) Q4 @% Y6 P. l" v- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
: u9 Y* i! ^! X" a! h2 P0 i- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
; z1 M, l) |- L2 W. t) N9 N3 l* V! \- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
  |) C" t( |9 }3 M9 S$ m, v- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
5 O/ @7 v+ }5 lProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
; J; P8 y# C4 @0 lsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
: h* X% m' C+ D6 k" r- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
; b& d! k& [6 U- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
