* `' c( q( E2 D+ {3 h; |5 FFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* \6 u, z, \6 ]& D. ]" D# |' ?& Wwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% \2 l) g% r% |2 i7 M0 D8 Remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
; _6 X+ i! ]) x: F0 f( Vand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 K8 ]9 |4 S) W+ V6 `9 Kresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
, o0 u, ~1 e3 d. z, w- Lscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
& \+ t# M: O3 H! q( L5 UDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
) ^* [2 ?8 T' h3 k! h8 q' u
Duties:
' {2 {- x3 r) N9 }8 G: m) |: e7 P" t- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
# v0 A" B. I& D0 `- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) `8 \- }' z5 k4 i- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

! b$ A0 Y, }# {# w6 R- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
. M* y6 s" }/ ?; S8 ^9 Q" _$ }Program (STEP)
5 ?  u2 J( c3 G- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- v% p  ?" E# SQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
8 f! C$ \1 T& q- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
