FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

5 v& I1 ]5 P% d8 Z6 ]- F  lartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
" D/ T% c3 w; Vemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
: P  I: X( I. v# v- ]/ Rand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, I  P! \' u: e& K  ?1 v+ p. Zresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' I! A5 H' ?0 ?, @) O4 I( jscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
* I& U2 T/ e; Jassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

$ \% y# ~* H( `6 Q8 uDuties:
  a% X+ @1 `0 ]- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
1 h( B# F5 W( c+ l- N- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
$ S# A" G. X& [+ J+ k) O- B- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
, ~# C9 q+ k3 m# r2 S- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
+ e6 {1 k/ w) u+ Xsecondary training
9 D- |  c( P. H( v6 w& C- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

0 F  N) j  S4 f2 GQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
% w& S5 R0 |" i9 ~0 W- Advance organizational and research skills
( L1 u! s: w! L2 }- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
