: u' I+ q! d& Q7 f( d9 BFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

; T2 P9 k  N4 ^; y- \FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- R/ ^# O$ a" [: A3 z! d) vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

/ j; e; P  p$ DJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

! [0 R5 P' b: N8 w2 ADuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
) m+ k* y2 o; ?4 D- Assist with production logistics for programming events
% c/ T/ h+ i: M! H" f' ?- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# Y+ u$ u9 ^, W% D% R2 L, }, V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
% O: L" T8 ]" Y9 v" tProgram (STEP)
6 K' \: @- I; U. i( A- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
" ?; a0 Y- Q% I8 v/ g* q: K- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& h4 i  l+ b+ M. r" B# f- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
