FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
2 R; U i. z- g3 u- Z/ l. p: zwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 6 ? ?/ Z0 p7 F, g
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ) w& C9 ?8 _ P* m$ g' b
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
! b+ O4 i- v j( Y l- j% L, z oand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 1 ]' Z+ y( o, [2 v( ^& n* W
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( _ W9 L2 O) @; j: C# _4 K& Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 7 K. i, n# Z% |8 x' W) |2 C

) ?/ `: M. I2 ~/ T9 N ^Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
# o( C! o7 ?" v2 f4 d4 r8 b7 cDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by , O9 Q9 { S; j8 Z
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; ?$ l1 U1 r' g/ a; G5 xDuties: ; c# \! f, A( z2 @ o5 B% ]
- Assist with research on acquisition grants ( q, A8 K6 C! N5 ^( G
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ P g$ _/ _3 s) l/ D- Assist with equipment maintenance 8 @" M: E' k9 y' C( M
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
# n8 ^+ G0 ~. {: t# Y5 _& f- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# Z2 X5 p8 n+ y; i9 D% J- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 2 D7 i" _1 |# u" L: z% [
- Provide vacation relief

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: : ?( Z, i, C' V% R0 c
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
, |' H) |7 z+ _- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 9 s& ?: {/ a& M! X8 B/ @
- Advance organizational and research skills
; Z% T+ K/ T6 G" H- c$ _$ L2 d- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 5 k7 R- M4 s& A* m3 c" ^
- Strong team player abilities
