FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
1 `- o- x+ C" \whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media + i# t7 X! L( o: s" y, `
artists from Northern Alberta. N/ t( Y. ^2 e' q6 k) R) o

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
) R$ U9 h# `2 M% O4 wemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 2 X( | Q: E7 d4 O7 q9 M
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ( L s' ]5 S/ X! D5 b
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and , C4 M2 C% t* @
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

# j& L# `" i8 H/ c2 kJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 2 p' M2 ?3 G& ^
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
! `( m# L2 |- l( u4 x+ w4 m1 ^assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 9 o* |: Q# j1 j' \# |# [
6 n+ T R" L( n# V& f2 ]$ h" A
Duties: 0 _& Z! c+ N) L4 v4 z y9 ?9 l
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
3 `: p# l9 s; l* V D) Q- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
/ l' d+ B) _ @! L- Assist with equipment maintenance
& `- y. q( ]* h1 n9 N6 S% b- Assist with production logistics for programming events % S A! L4 M" w; v+ m. K* k
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff * N/ S( _" x% [" N
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
! }* m+ h# S( i- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-: W8 r3 d, `/ S0 U' {
secondary training 3 |$ [3 D. g2 u- D7 b; N# A4 O/ A
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- L! o) _" Y) \# n2 y5 F- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
^( s, [# W. f# m8 b. j: o8 n$ B- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts * q3 ?1 E, M* @1 B
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- K u& C' h/ j) E- Advance organizational and research skills 8 ?9 I7 V, |' A( F+ o% \
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
