) j9 J0 J3 L$ e) @0 P! \FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization # ^+ b# T7 `# Z7 L8 x6 B& _" x& t2 X
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 5 n& s! e3 D3 }& J
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from / T/ f3 d. O2 L% H
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video r2 U* W3 T+ `, G& G6 P/ p4 l
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 7 d, L$ D7 p/ Y2 r. k3 m/ c
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) H" _( z+ z3 J1 sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

: S" |* f% [" o* e/ Y, |Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
0 r$ R1 O6 ^9 g, \' w2 P* }; w& CDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ C: P2 u# s* w, y# t# k; ]' bassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. # u9 l' z. g) {( H/ h) I

Duties:
' J1 g* L c6 }6 T- Assist with research on acquisition grants 2 ?% W: y! u% \0 j
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- A [$ h$ _# I! f' ?* Z0 b- Assist with equipment maintenance
6 {( B+ Y& Y0 |$ r" z- Assist with production logistics for programming events 9 n8 d) v3 R @6 Q: x) |9 r5 ~
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff & F! f v! k$ f
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable # v& V* X7 p* J/ H
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 7 I n2 g& [! y. d% W
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
! s: z' ]7 O# I D# j" k- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment " P: b- D( c3 j/ r% `* j% i' f1 h0 l
- Advance organizational and research skills
' N8 w# O& t" o- |- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
