FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 Q1 e9 V9 j: [" @emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) A6 k. J$ j, d4 ~and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 Z' |6 o. F  [$ r% i+ m$ jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
1 x# s1 B. A5 X4 }1 j5 A  o8 w+ TAlberta.

. q. T' q7 ]9 Z! ^4 Z' yJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
4 _* U7 V$ `* t  C8 ~/ e6 P5 g4 ^assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

) Y, Y5 R/ k- R3 [Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
. u+ T3 M) H: o$ L* [6 y$ C- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
' @* m& L# ~5 r# |" |& {- Assist with equipment maintenance
3 [2 f0 h7 V1 M# t- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
9 G& x& A* e0 W% P5 \: F- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
! r# t$ x: e) K$ w+ t! S- Provide vacation relief

( g: n9 H, _( v- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
6 ^! E  ~0 e: ]8 J* a- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
5 ]  p( m9 ^" t( c0 Hsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills

- Strong team player abilities
