FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization % q% h$ c. a4 s/ h2 p0 U! |! _
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
* a; Y y4 W2 C" rartists from Northern Alberta. % @( {- c1 u$ w# `

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 G) M* N; G g# hemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video |7 \2 }+ n( d# B* c- |
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ! p# k; h# N. J+ A7 R
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
7 B1 I; P% m" a- i' y" I' oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern . ?7 o5 U2 ?3 r4 X

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ) w" |' v- f) L
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by / W8 W9 W/ a4 y3 e0 W2 X# ?
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: / n% x4 l" |& ^" u1 `
- Assist with research on acquisition grants ) h& q5 ]! A8 q, q0 c) |
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) \1 i/ [6 Y3 T% E8 p1 B8 v1 K- R7 q- Assist with equipment maintenance $ R/ p1 I* G( p/ r! b1 A0 t# s
- Assist with production logistics for programming events ( W, X% D$ |1 |7 r2 V) `5 N
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 4 w0 J5 Y5 K% r U
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
" B. e0 _! S0 N! f- Advance organizational and research skills 6 G; A7 @" @7 u! T: X7 \
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 6 E, G9 L' j* {3 N$ m1 i" [
- Strong team player abilities . L$ x. e& o5 F
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
