FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization # e2 A6 `% g7 D( c: \! e/ F
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
/ v% o- `' J9 J( ~7 ~& y' Rartists from Northern Alberta. ( `/ m+ Q; h/ I$ S9 I6 @! ~: U

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from I% p# K+ k3 ]- e2 V. R
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 K$ e2 a+ J9 gand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
7 R, b/ ^' N f% e! m% _, T2 hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and . d( ], k1 G; Z$ z S& T
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive " A3 E2 \$ N6 [9 u% {
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 7 c5 w7 ^# ~# D9 I; J2 ^) {5 U
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 5 K8 f. q& c$ [! W
3 k" ], b: s4 C$ ?# y- [$ v
Duties: 1 L6 [# F" O0 H4 i M7 _
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
# g) h3 T% U& L8 t7 O, M! M5 H& s- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities * e+ [$ I. c. E: P$ F6 y1 t$ t* s* c
- Assist with equipment maintenance ; O# V. ~# b3 Z& ]' _1 u4 m
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 4 |: j, V& M$ C
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff

- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
% D3 u/ [3 T* y6 k( D: U- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts / X3 i2 C6 c+ Q+ E8 [) I+ n) N: J) `
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
. O" C) @- x6 E$ F9 w$ s5 {) _+ K- Advance organizational and research skills ' i* B6 J$ d& a
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- |, r; n/ {; D! M% l, l- Strong team player abilities / W f7 u! T' p- g6 n
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 0 @) k3 E+ K! K; p( g3 g
