FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 9 V, B9 Y- r2 w+ d
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
7 v# I9 J: |0 ]artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 7 H; @& s& z! A( q
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
: I7 R F/ I0 land media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a + m4 A @6 n% U% j8 h8 A
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) x# q7 }+ f1 e5 qscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern $ d+ S, U: t! u8 Y! k( u
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
: l" n/ w1 |& ~: t5 a( kDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 9 i+ f$ C: t! G
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 3 \" b( g4 t. G v) p
" ^& p" G1 o: e {) W% D
Duties:
* N9 n, N" K3 b$ m& H* A5 r) G+ I- Assist with research on acquisition grants
1 F8 i" j* l) L5 F) I# z- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
; Z2 t, Y( I7 A5 q* e/ n* p% F9 s- Assist with equipment maintenance
2 ?5 X) A. O" X: x/ u- Assist with production logistics for programming events
: e3 o: q4 X1 y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ( m8 ]0 O5 u) }% y" Q8 E7 q6 l
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ! P* P' W O! f/ L
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
4 }, R/ n9 ]8 J. u3 R( R! r' l- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 1 u# Y- I$ I5 y6 m' i6 J. B
- Advance organizational and research skills 9 j% t- b) S, y( T1 ^
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
+ P/ Y( N9 S& g- Strong team player abilities % C+ Y1 ~% X \1 f; y8 p7 x& I2 `, v: z
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 8 P& @9 {) ^3 ^" z1 h! H/ L
