FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
- y3 z( g2 q9 {1 {whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
' E" @$ U, P4 j4 B1 C7 Partists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from % ?) y5 z7 ^1 O* A' |8 \
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 8 T( I" b9 O! j# ]# V& n
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% @1 K( x9 v8 [1 t& A. x3 q; D1 presource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
" _0 g* m. J" d0 w1 {+ s7 mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

, F2 z- i" @' [" k: ]Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ( ?0 ]6 U# ?, f* C% `) |' R& s
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ z( C# X& s5 G0 x3 _assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. : u: G$ _0 H y3 P4 ]

Duties:
6 S, X. J* K/ `( q8 l! W9 U- Assist with research on acquisition grants
2 F) g' e! n9 {6 Q- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities % c- m3 w* `; Q' s2 e9 b
- Assist with equipment maintenance 8 x% b4 ]- z3 H# U- s, d0 U! e# k
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 8 C: i4 k' j' F" Y! q. v% _+ w
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff / o/ o) ^' U3 D- ^; X( e) p
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ) d' _. x/ P o" ^5 B: e7 {
- Provide vacation relief % Q/ `* |! T5 ^5 m8 `

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-& @) N) k( N$ p. L w

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 8 d% Q- R8 f1 c
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ( F; l; K# L/ x) v1 t, Q
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) Y8 h4 V! _. Z- N C9 O% u- Advance organizational and research skills 6 W4 O, `" V; b: s$ V& \
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD : a: |8 ~# K4 V/ S. S. o
- Strong team player abilities
