FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
7 f4 @9 V5 j6 ]/ R: v/ U8 d2 \whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

3 \' H- h- J! CFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 }: _9 ?( r8 l2 |( e" @+ Aemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
) o! E6 b9 G9 |" T$ T. fresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
* j6 n3 t2 _, b7 P7 aDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

* I7 ^& }! d. |1 UDuties:
$ o, z$ z5 X* S- Assist with research on acquisition grants
5 t; G4 V2 q* D3 e- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
; J& D/ a% _) L/ E* E- a) n8 Y8 v0 y- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
) z, I* F2 ]2 ]# ?9 T& P% w+ X7 E- Provide vacation relief

Details:
' T& a) _9 v6 ]3 L$ x2 i- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
6 y* W; @3 r3 b- K% }' {Program (STEP)
6 ^5 |* u2 @+ G, X- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
% L6 h/ f8 p; J) L$ @- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& U, J, Z5 a  s' a- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
8 q2 f: V, m6 f1 B+ r3 S- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
$ t3 q# M6 }$ [- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- n$ B% h, |/ h: n2 d) o- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
6 o- C/ k/ _: [% F- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
