FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization # u& j2 V2 ^' y$ t3 Q! n) _
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media & z- k, T' R7 \ |/ }4 M
artists from Northern Alberta. H5 r( `8 q, c- L6 c/ z
1 ^ m& y0 }* N* O( dFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 2 C8 W: \! ~) R
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 c' Y- ]& j. }/ w( z2 E: S/ E
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " R8 `; \4 I5 R. i& T5 z, Z
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and / y3 R3 Y: T0 {& @- H7 @" |) z' v
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

- y& ]2 t8 h5 D2 y+ rJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 ^+ v% v2 V8 J4 ]- `Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ @5 I* j) k) y0 r# q& V& ^* |assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. % j! \. A$ @1 R( c2 j% `& c9 h
5 h7 a. F; ]: O& o. D% Y u) P" d4 RDuties: 4 S/ |! H `0 G! v( U0 _
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
3 Z0 C$ k; r" j2 c# B' e4 ?2 M% l' e8 x- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities " G% V& k& a. ^5 s+ t4 o
- Assist with equipment maintenance $ r3 b$ O: F% l
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
6 D& {. a4 ?6 v+ a5 s- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 2 {$ C A/ h) t; J+ g0 S
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

/ \$ ?- |) O8 {( [+ j8 v- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: $ L5 J$ [7 }# c+ x5 u
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts & p" p- p9 L0 y) f* x
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment / x, {1 g' Q& ]4 P" J. u- N
- Advance organizational and research skills
) U# S* Y/ S' M: M5 h- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 5 P6 c( `, z G( A+ A$ Y) {3 Z3 `
- Strong team player abilities : ^' G; q# H+ d. S1 a
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors . u/ V! w1 h9 X2 }
