FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
4 U7 @ `3 q) t9 U- c3 K" Vwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 1 i& w& o- U8 r; ?+ ?+ W
artists from Northern Alberta. + C% v8 g5 ~8 |) c0 x' E
9 w1 }/ l. M! G8 ~6 B8 `) ^; K0 wFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 P( @- P7 D0 n E7 o: Iemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ( f# Y- @& X8 |: g/ f
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 P: g: X1 g2 I) v$ g0 sresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
1 m) [7 @& V G$ }9 ]& M) sDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by & ~6 t H. _" V7 M% g1 m' ]
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
) m# l4 F0 f- i3 Y; Z# } 7 F7 S/ a6 b2 w; D' v# S3 g$ M
Duties: . J) h5 d' m. E. ?
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
' }/ v9 |: v M- T3 O- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 8 `* c% y2 |2 o/ p7 n5 p) y" t1 G: C9 Y
- Assist with equipment maintenance
# w0 @5 {8 ~/ O- y- Assist with production logistics for programming events ( w) T( L5 x1 q8 }! H) I
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
1 c) S, K0 F" z2 d0 N* c4 l- f- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 5 ?- @4 C8 N* O' L
- Provide vacation relief % h, D' z1 t9 m3 ^2 M0 ]

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

+ ~+ q6 A$ \, F8 J- Y r, J- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& i" {) D6 Z- ?- Advance organizational and research skills ; D9 _& Z# _4 ?- t
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
