' D3 Q. b& r- |, H$ tFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ; z; `/ I D# l3 d' }$ H
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ! }( | ?& b r6 T* o
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
5 C; Y$ o, C, x; [1 e7 F% s) @and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
; o: S( G/ D$ l" C1 N: s" c% @: Bresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& T; V" V) C Q) K3 l3 ?* U2 escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern & L* M( S0 g, |6 l5 S% r; h" l
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ) s- q) R/ p9 \# D( o" s2 r$ p
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 8 t, U9 }8 D2 i& a7 i
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. * K2 O* t1 v( ]
, s H) j; W$ KDuties:
0 s i3 F5 V# w- Assist with research on acquisition grants . F( |0 o/ K4 Y! d
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
* h/ H* }1 ]# J% }2 ^7 E- Assist with equipment maintenance
4 q5 Z) V1 l' e* W2 N- Assist with production logistics for programming events - y, Z2 A( e) p1 w! V! K& C1 t `+ J
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! S* ~- x$ |' b/ t- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
/ L% [9 ~+ C, p, i1 ?1 t$ Q- Provide vacation relief

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: : c9 j$ H3 g. k8 P
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
1 Q3 s A' k6 H, A0 x8 l- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 4 [7 M8 l# e% U; r: j
- Advance organizational and research skills
( F5 X& s/ H! [) ~* a+ i# s% M2 a) d& J) J8 T- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
