+ i. T: w* W: h* vFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization * Y' i1 `% ^# M2 p
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media m5 `' t7 j0 @7 a# a0 }% ]) O
artists from Northern Alberta. 5 \% b& A0 t) z% s* d% a

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 3 V. `# t- d, J) D6 }2 Y ~" y4 ? q
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 9 ~4 k8 E/ y0 j) Y+ E ~
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a J/ L, T! T6 U3 U
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 3 R! D# \) p9 C0 [
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
( ]( k D' ~& c; y. h$ uAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
1 }; ^! g' ]8 L2 u+ JDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ( d* s# p) L% G; E$ B% d
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. , n+ I) U( z& x9 C
# } A, N% T* y+ _% u
Duties:
0 G# Z3 J4 s) W3 v! C- Assist with research on acquisition grants
6 r0 i( [' Q8 }6 c. K- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities : ~6 U6 H5 C2 R2 h' x
- Assist with equipment maintenance
7 r$ z3 }: c& A1 z6 ?" [4 H! j/ \- Assist with production logistics for programming events
" q/ j* X5 M7 J. f2 ~/ A2 V- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 A5 Q" U6 Z5 ^5 C- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
# I3 q, X" Q& i* O; t- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks 9 }, {: a1 h% R( m

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: * p$ c( e8 C1 o7 Z' a2 o1 u
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts * l/ _( P! q9 g& f6 X5 `$ {% Z
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
2 x. U) r. |& h- Advance organizational and research skills
2 q. \% T* \. R' x4 B2 _- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- |9 T7 o* t3 Q9 b3 S. ]$ |( n/ E- Strong team player abilities
