FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ( n/ q1 u+ Y- I, d* \, Y
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media - z/ f% F6 S% l6 i3 s9 o# j W
artists from Northern Alberta. & a% D. I. O$ ` r3 h
5 M0 |) g. d# p# k% cFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from # e* T0 S2 g/ C5 E
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ) j- P2 h1 g e9 Z' d4 X% X0 P* }
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
1 y/ s6 { S2 H- P/ K( }; lresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
2 y B2 B, n7 |! p0 p0 L/ h! J1 [" Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. i9 u- l8 n8 U0 oDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 5 ?( j9 x5 @. O b9 e
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

, p' P5 H7 y2 g8 S- d- C7 V, J7 b- Assist with research on acquisition grants ! w* }- R7 m1 o3 S% b+ ~. ? S
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities , V& Q# B! q! {5 M1 B9 P: c+ y
- Assist with equipment maintenance ' n7 v1 B5 i3 z M
- Assist with production logistics for programming events $ |6 p$ Z# a% j7 J" l, ^/ F0 R
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ' E2 u& T: T4 c5 G3 k9 n
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
: g% l- n4 z; C/ h- Advance organizational and research skills , q Q+ y. Z: S- c* Z; f8 `
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 0 K7 O$ ?- g4 l- u# y1 l# Q
- Strong team player abilities
