FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
9 v; z4 M+ d1 A! O1 O% x$ h. n' jemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 z& c1 C* _9 U# _" c, p) Qand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
& D) @4 [ o, X- `5 e+ hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 8 h! R u6 p& h) a+ c8 [3 ?
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 1 }! s$ h! }& E7 O8 p& h* d3 l

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive / H" x9 N$ B4 i- P3 d
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
L) V& j. V% h j. zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

+ W( {( x! k* [" g- e3 }8 k- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& \7 I7 I! c. A i% M* @- [- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
# Y4 ~, Y5 w: I6 A O# W# U- Assist with equipment maintenance
f3 n5 [* G$ n( h+ B$ D- Assist with production logistics for programming events
L6 H$ y( K+ u5 R) P/ s- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 2 v. f) V; u# T) G% V. l
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; Y7 S- u. t! a* B% R( C- Advance organizational and research skills % O) ~, {) }7 d4 Y3 Z2 N7 Z% n9 l
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
/ U- B; a4 l) X ^0 [- Strong team player abilities
8 Z* S, y- F" n# d: \) g- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
