/ r, K8 w* W9 T  k. ^2 yFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
, A+ h' R$ g9 F0 k( t( ?artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
% _5 {0 R$ f, xresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* ^. X1 M, H3 Z% k8 `# Qscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
, _, P' \1 W3 u' Zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
' U3 j7 `* Q& b; Z! C# ?- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
# C& S6 F/ s; s  C% D8 M- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
' F1 Y' `1 k6 y. A' X# Y- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
# _/ Q0 \1 a+ ]+ lProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
" C  O- _( K2 n- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
' O) {9 Q# s: u9 i- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

$ `7 R( R5 ?6 `% W8 \- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
: I8 }- y$ `  H5 }, ^; k9 l- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
