FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization # i' X( ]( j& a; H
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media / n. U8 L# Q! b9 |: @! u" h' v
artists from Northern Alberta. 0 v! ?, Y% N# Z0 e# R
6 N3 d( Q( s* \% ?8 E) `FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 2 F: g" v6 w: U/ Q# K+ I& _
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video + i T" ]1 R4 I; P) d
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 3 E: G* t0 b3 Y
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ! Q2 ^$ T9 Q, A! x
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ) F$ v5 ]& L& V% k4 X
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 4 k0 r# W K y
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
" T' T! q/ l) H9 y* s; passisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. + I) \7 _( d0 _3 d: V4 C

Duties:
1 s t# Z7 P# @3 l' D; J- Y4 C8 g- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& k9 Y/ _, \! D4 k( ]7 j }- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
6 Y k/ c, e. m( K4 B2 i q' y/ L- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 z* c2 F# ^. u* F- Assist with production logistics for programming events
7 B( z0 k5 \" I- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ; f+ d$ t, x# Q c& A9 `+ m
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ' F4 f( B) B" \, {8 z
- Provide vacation relief

Program (STEP)

secondary training 3 u" m e* Y& C( B1 ^
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

1 V+ W; E5 A* S9 V2 Y5 ^- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ) m6 c" i" Y* M6 B
- Advance organizational and research skills
8 a/ e# X/ R a8 v5 S4 p$ ?. \- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
