2 C0 J/ v# `# zFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 2 [$ y& P1 u1 ]; M$ e0 [0 Y
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
; [$ z& N, M( G7 m6 Wartists from Northern Alberta.

; D# i9 S% e- E/ p6 wFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
1 {, s$ S i( T0 d" V/ temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
i0 Z# Q# H' ~2 w0 Tand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a # `9 T% e9 V6 d) ~
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and + v: U; n- }$ I" x& W
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

. H! d0 F: M6 |1 P0 A; wJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 1 r! s! i7 V8 \: a. [
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by & F2 v' Y8 A `/ O. B
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: ! ]& o: h( s7 {6 K: s6 S
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 w' ?# q! ]* d5 E" T5 {- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
. @" B j0 G* |: W- Assist with equipment maintenance
! J2 \$ J: O0 s, a* p5 A- Assist with production logistics for programming events
* ^' g7 O6 m/ m- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ h6 B8 @( E9 [- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-6 e) |: l4 ^/ H! {7 N
secondary training
& v* ^! C! }5 B. i# y- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week , p& s$ Q s0 w) S6 Q7 a
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks ; x& v6 F2 \ w3 e* F0 z

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: * f* D/ ?+ l4 I& ^! @. z0 R! O7 Y
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts % x6 a3 M! T8 O# t" x1 q
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ( ]; @& B$ A1 x. D& u
- Advance organizational and research skills 7 b9 H( C( S8 j3 b5 n
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ( y3 E2 q. Y- Z& e: G
- Strong team player abilities
