4 _. |4 [  G6 ~" |! k5 L5 _FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
5 ]/ d& Z# ~6 Jwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
6 ^' O1 e) M# B2 X1 Q  oartists from Northern Alberta.

( Z5 s6 T) h/ N6 E! g& gFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- r0 X# {8 W0 Jemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

4 [+ U3 r3 Z1 u' W* T9 e6 n- F8 EJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- j$ R2 M: |- W- Assist with production logistics for programming events
5 I+ f7 L) h# e. U- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
5 M8 h8 l& L7 F* f6 X' P8 t- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
, P# B8 O( O3 B6 u; f- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A8 c1 L8 V: \1 q- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
2 a: l1 a( C7 z, t* _& v- R1 q5 R  H7 ?- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
+ S' b8 W+ w6 n- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
