8 O1 y: ]/ R; N0 gFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
0 z: r  Y3 ?- `whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
: {! k) W- R' O! D! w3 Cartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
$ K, ?. y, N$ N% w1 q; Bassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

& U6 [3 ]8 n) K) c( m' UDuties:
' `8 B* I5 A# Z0 d- Assist with research on acquisition grants
1 M: v& V8 ^$ Y' A- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! {6 e6 l. J( d- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
' W' y1 D) T' B6 J" Q- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
3 e$ w" [8 @" I2 A- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
7 T2 J0 t# K8 i9 _; p) x- |- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
+ e3 \5 |$ W' v) y& S7 j% L$ IProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
1 o+ z2 R2 n' P- n( e: j$ H7 Z$ B- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
& r+ T2 [! ?7 ^! D0 w5 N9 O" M- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
% v) g9 z! d* j; B* @- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
) X6 H: f6 O. e; D- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
