FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
3 J0 E+ c) A% d; ^/ zwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# h* q9 z: n+ uemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. I1 ^# h! h! U7 M# F9 Cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

) e$ Y$ {* P8 A6 V/ C6 KJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
5 Q- h& _+ t* L. s4 B5 s- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
" r( K% x+ c) T4 W0 z9 B  A- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
% U, e$ ^) V0 h% M, _- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
3 I& |% H$ T* U1 \9 E& o$ b  TProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

: C# q& _/ [/ m( \4 A- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
* _$ R" Z+ _  A& R/ P0 G, ?' |- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
1 v0 w  [7 N1 ]% O8 S% C' R4 M! P! D- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
