FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
. s- O( s( A+ Bwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% U( }0 p1 T T9 F5 V# }emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video * t, }! G: F& S4 _( Y
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
" U. m% ~3 R' ^) q, b) [resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and H1 |2 R" n3 Z5 I
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern $ t! I' H8 V+ U

, P( n+ P4 e; UJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 o9 S& z% u" P$ I) V. UDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by - s: A+ _7 r3 ^% o) n& {* I9 j
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 4 E7 e: J$ r0 `6 t. R _
! }7 i+ ^! ?5 Q" W. {Duties: # o* m+ K0 z4 ^. D( ]0 X
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 }2 E- ~" e3 y) {& Y- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ! Y @* J& m; `6 y8 ~
- Assist with equipment maintenance
* S5 `1 H( C3 o- Assist with production logistics for programming events - z+ `$ W# Q, ]
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff $ h3 r9 B. `0 P _
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
+ T/ W) B/ F4 a6 x0 N# F- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-0 L6 E9 L7 b$ l

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week T& {/ K: F2 H, W3 `( Q
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks , u$ E( P" K5 d8 ]/ h M! M& |5 M

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts % J. Y% z: e$ K$ t$ W
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment

- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
