FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
( J$ I" D, v! V& ]& Qwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
) l5 f$ Y7 _8 Z* h% ^artists from Northern Alberta.

7 F4 t5 ^' {' ?7 E- XFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from . V% v5 a# c% s+ [& B' z% K
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video " C- x, ?5 _, ^; d, g1 p9 A
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " Z }8 Y% i6 V- Q" x
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and $ n$ _9 F7 k9 M4 Z( C+ \: r
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 9 Z$ C K) i7 G) ^' F$ u8 A
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
f3 {- @% V) [. jassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. . \9 r; }; g9 \0 ]7 {9 x

Duties: ) q/ _( r# P- ^. K7 O
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
% ^" G% X- }/ k" {7 F: a# v" v- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities # ~9 A% p, R/ N
- Assist with equipment maintenance r6 J6 D: L: v; j' }
- Assist with production logistics for programming events # P k4 _. { X: k! p$ I
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment

- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
