FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ' F! S* i3 H2 m5 P. k( }- o
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
$ ?. u. \. ~3 qartists from Northern Alberta. 5 L4 O! r+ O7 I
" ]: B2 s- c4 o( z3 M, WFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 8 X7 o' c# l( v$ T$ ]7 f
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 7 Z9 y; E1 _3 n+ T" v- P
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 3 i0 w2 w7 o0 c; W
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
/ b3 q1 v: t( \4 m% p7 }# ~Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ( U( `- b( y7 Q, d. s, ]
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. : C& K* @$ L) r2 V) C
2 G, P4 e! i" T0 Y+ I0 J5 U/ [$ XDuties: , K: |5 a8 [2 G7 X S
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
6 b5 m0 P& i% d$ K# s9 b- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities $ }9 i: F, n1 P" d
- Assist with equipment maintenance
' G6 P: N7 A, j( ~0 w2 R. K D- Assist with production logistics for programming events 7 T; P9 v7 V+ r( }! Y! k
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff " g! z: _- h. V" y
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 4 \, m7 N" G8 E {' q
- Provide vacation relief 3 T, [% ~- }" B" }/ p/ `4 e

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-0 w8 ?! f% d# _6 G; g6 C5 I5 o6 E) x

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
0 ^7 y0 R. }; m8 |- Advance organizational and research skills 6 ~: J% i$ ^+ K0 ?
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
