FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 9 @" h" H' a$ Q7 g* f9 Z# S' o" Z
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
: i0 w t1 T" x6 H1 R# A0 x% Bartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 ?, ]: i6 @) x4 }& e+ uemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
7 p5 |+ o9 Y$ C7 kand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
* F, r- V; ^) j# zresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and M/ ~9 P7 ~. W6 L# ^
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 2 }8 l9 W- T! H9 a: v

1 P* \! L" D8 H/ c+ `: a1 n; z2 {' XJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ! t) a' W" W4 m+ \. C
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
9 L3 k' m5 a* t! M% w4 J1 cassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

, k. g0 _' |: V" \0 t: N, O- Assist with research on acquisition grants
( Y! S0 u3 k% W! q. z4 I- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 0 \! S a, e" N3 m
- Assist with equipment maintenance 1 n" ^! J+ a' m( w# b
- Assist with production logistics for programming events |5 z0 L. ^( C( i1 Z/ j
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
, x' d# v# J% w- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ! Z1 h9 g P+ e0 ^8 @
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

& R' X4 d; o& L% M/ Z ?2 a: x! H+ b- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

+ R( W: R- `/ ~- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
% M. o* v! q U* r9 ]) x- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
A, i$ i- B1 T. X. S- Advance organizational and research skills ! q8 j: ]* i* r' \( [
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors - Y9 j( n8 n9 t# {, z$ u8 s2 m
