FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
4 K+ [- d5 G( a/ [+ a1 \ B$ Gwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media " |5 u2 ]* I' B+ `/ X* X
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from + F5 \/ W3 X! u) w/ b+ i
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 \5 ]1 A) {7 k- {4 L
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 4 L" c m9 s7 l+ M
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 9 [1 A1 h% N3 F9 h
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
) i* g* e" I5 J1 h; T) [; ODirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by # \" Y6 U1 j/ E
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
b2 r5 }3 t$ V. c- Assist with research on acquisition grants " y. }/ T" [# q8 z! `6 S# R
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities z+ X" y; L( X& k+ T3 O4 s9 k
- Assist with equipment maintenance 0 `0 G$ i8 k" U: ~
- Assist with production logistics for programming events % v, ?' z8 X5 z+ ^& R1 w( U
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
( J" ^' `5 V' ^- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable + K' g( [5 `3 c( F2 R% c$ v0 ?
- Provide vacation relief

secondary training

- @0 `: s( V6 H- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment / S% J8 o. m$ M/ b5 E8 ]
- Advance organizational and research skills ! E/ j1 S; I) e
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors * E! O: d3 k4 n1 q
