FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization * H6 d. w4 V5 F3 }- \6 m- d* Y) e3 {4 M
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media * V) A0 C! K4 f; g$ {8 A
artists from Northern Alberta.

. I8 b2 H U' ZFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
h5 J+ `! S$ gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
' L; S0 E9 h- `, {and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 w0 Q1 \7 n; {5 J3 F. T. dresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
' f& q7 M5 G; a! }5 d8 wscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
]/ B) Q( G' B4 U) p& }7 {$ XAlberta. # I% a: n4 D- O! L$ S- Z; H, n- }+ D

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive - f8 X' J3 D6 r' T/ d0 Z
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ; c' O) [# R" T- j& B
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 8 U$ v5 H# e. M/ A o q( m% ]
) y. m* \# y) c4 j q2 M% q
Duties: % `& n, g9 I; n# j e W
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
5 _% F) {% r7 S* D6 {- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ' n0 y2 E/ x; {
- Assist with equipment maintenance ) E0 Q; p* r8 z+ Q4 Q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
1 i% G: @3 `2 W1 m! Z- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
2 E6 z9 l$ I& ?! U- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 i9 D6 K6 K' ~7 |& m5 ^( c
- Provide vacation relief , c7 B$ n2 p# N* ]8 }; l

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

8 Z9 \8 |3 O& A4 f- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ! o8 n& `% `, ~, ]# Y
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ' X: f, O; [ G2 A6 h
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment % E# O' X' U( I S
- Advance organizational and research skills
7 ]8 _$ e( j9 P! C- ?- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
