FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 7 `9 b! C* ]2 E. Y0 k3 Q
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ! n: Z2 S- M- e% v1 B
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ! Q- g7 _% P- z; G: n2 A
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
n9 S6 D+ h$ D1 aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* w" m9 M- \$ S2 _screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 4 W, @& H* {+ W" ~* J" z5 ^4 s" d
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
6 j8 O ~- B$ S* oassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 1 ]/ n( c% h J

- Assist with research on acquisition grants 1 ^1 q1 K5 [+ f. y
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities + K/ `# y* J B# Y! P2 |
- Assist with equipment maintenance ! O' d. h! Y* g8 o3 U' m( A. Z7 B
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
, _8 `! |( X- b8 w% u, }. F- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff & U! Q0 e, @$ N
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable - s4 B5 `! J+ Q( F1 }6 x; S
- Provide vacation relief

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

) D, I3 I) M& |) b8 b- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
2 P' r8 B( M) s" ~% X- Advance organizational and research skills
h, x( H6 U# j# t$ W0 @- v+ ^- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ; z0 d1 A' e. ?
- Strong team player abilities & K3 @1 o3 A% H5 q7 L+ h
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
