9 r7 _( m. y% ?6 s5 b2 HFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
7 ]( ^+ Q% q5 ?0 B! `- twhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
" |# I( e) c  T/ }  ^# m5 bartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ c, ~3 D% R5 I) p1 Yassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; U, S4 [1 A( X2 HDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
/ C8 X  C& d7 O- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# N( d9 ]1 I! b: k* N" |- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
9 P, Y) Y) U. t" |. YProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
& H% }) ]) G  H+ L- p1 W8 _- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
! Y- `! X. s) |# B6 Y' K, [- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) U: `# B& q0 P+ h4 l$ m2 r9 \- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
