FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
, m+ p# ~$ p! z- r4 B* A! l+ Fwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* |" i- M: _4 |) O: B4 a" k. c# QFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
& r2 [/ }+ [4 B! Y. \( remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
0 I8 N; t5 B; Vand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- a/ Q5 q9 F- [7 t6 R+ Gresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
) Q% H9 n$ W4 S$ iDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
6 H% x" K8 Y$ U$ U6 D- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
2 D) W8 h' y  ]9 Q7 ~& G$ z- Assist with equipment maintenance
/ c) o$ ]+ S" R1 Z- P- Assist with production logistics for programming events
7 C2 ^8 x7 N) D- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
$ K! w0 v5 q* m- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
# U7 O7 V$ Q2 c/ {- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
( e# B4 G: z- X9 h- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
" X* N# }. U  F) G, g/ e- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
