FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization : G0 o; C2 a" t5 x
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 9 \5 c) R% f+ V% m5 [, m
artists from Northern Alberta. % S/ V! _- G* s3 F" t9 `( _
' w; E/ S5 C3 L# g0 L" t8 w2 [1 S* gFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ) @9 S' F( N2 N" X, d
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video

" T, Y, U, o& E6 Vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

! Z+ \' ]5 T" r5 eJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive # q6 s' Y1 B6 y1 ~' n
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
* b- y7 v3 s( X0 @- J- N/ ^3 F4 nassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 6 V$ H& G, |( F' ^! f7 O4 c) a

Duties: 5 H1 v6 d+ Y! {3 n
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 9 |% G5 y1 D2 J0 I; P6 w
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities $ k- t) b' K; N+ b
- Assist with equipment maintenance ; l) X6 L' u) w1 w6 |
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
% l; k3 Y. ^& h8 i2 }, k" c* t4 Y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-' Y- J$ q3 ]3 Y6 O4 A$ P [
secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ; c- o1 J9 s# S/ g x
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts / K8 ~- A8 d% `( D3 L2 Q, X7 X
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
, e' q' {+ @1 Q& e3 G* J- Advance organizational and research skills 2 @0 v, c9 I* l* `5 m! ~9 M: F3 ?9 w# R
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
