FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
( a% W! f* d" M1 D/ L$ [whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
- E" Z. O4 z. r( |artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( _5 ?) D0 m" j5 n4 D7 Eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
' o; l) a6 S. S( m3 y. N+ L; {assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) p5 H8 o+ m2 g4 S6 K& v8 {% d' |- Assist with equipment maintenance
! j5 K- }; R& j, }: ?. H1 W- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. K8 l$ X# a0 L- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
' r5 Y; K/ a! d- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
4 c, [( s" K( y) M6 A# e- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
7 a. t; f2 v$ p3 E# A- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
' G. c6 @% J' L' [9 ?. ?- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
