+ i3 M% i  m+ e* K" u8 i% }FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
! T0 c5 |& w1 Q0 twhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; E6 P1 H. j3 g( F/ Oemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 `2 z9 H/ g" Jand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
2 w& W3 A* t# m' P/ \4 lresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
2 _$ W9 ?4 j0 Cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
7 K2 B" c; }0 c* b# F3 ~' ^7 b# YAlberta.

3 K% H9 Y, b4 J/ BJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
1 l6 H$ d- O5 m! kassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; I1 z% X: Z7 i( p. lDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! H% ?& h. s7 ^- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! i% R) t2 u4 T9 @$ d- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
) n5 K" L% k  K2 R* }9 v+ W- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
, w$ X' e4 ]6 [! A- {9 A  Jsecondary training
7 }! U/ s' K: }( f. r: U- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
9 D6 o4 O" a/ S- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

$ l+ R2 z$ ]: c- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
; f* W3 ^8 v5 ~+ a8 h2 n- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( e% ]8 ^$ T: Y6 D- V- Advance organizational and research skills
& v& F, v4 J, {" g5 B6 V- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
5 T: v& B0 r( O3 q1 T$ b- W. h- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
