FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 1 W I) P8 L$ p& i/ o
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media ! ?7 `/ ~5 W5 Y; {1 i
artists from Northern Alberta. 6 {: Y* |* f( s1 q

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from % o/ Q& O3 A5 R' p1 w
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video " g" M! h5 {: z% Q7 r
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a / u2 |, p8 n6 q( e# t9 ^
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and & w7 U9 I# x" {4 }
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive % |6 p0 F7 x. E6 F9 S7 H
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ S( V0 B- p& G$ |5 x) ^. z3 `0 I% f9 massisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: % q# w0 v5 ]) ^$ b' Y
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
) t7 H4 n- K: s. a- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
0 @: `/ c/ {5 A; a8 W. p+ v+ s- Assist with equipment maintenance 6 c. Y8 W% @* K w% O/ l7 t+ W( `' x
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 a( P, Z+ A9 b2 C$ C1 U- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
( k* ~$ s: j! E! P- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-' ~; }/ i. V4 b: s, y5 \2 U
secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
