FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
& S; z( ~! y$ |" L$ g }whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media " N( b0 c/ o" t( A
artists from Northern Alberta. & `+ M! @/ `& W8 Y" \

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; n# _* |1 w) B" N0 qemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
) k2 p' |9 I+ l8 O9 \1 h6 Vand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 3 K& a; Z0 [4 M/ O2 i( @8 D
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and $ F9 Z" v. s4 }3 l8 _* I* W' q0 L
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 4 v2 r$ n6 n) ~5 M, i
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ; c- L' s6 h5 z. H" ?! |0 {8 k
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 9 G' p: D" U( h* P
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ' Z$ h9 t* D! N
C$ t( a5 y# V7 l7 M) }
Duties: ( @5 F6 ^! d% i, `4 [/ `
- Assist with research on acquisition grants & m! d+ a4 S! p; {4 u9 R: {$ y
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
6 _$ }9 g. k$ t. B( T- Assist with equipment maintenance ! R$ y+ B* T8 I9 w; r* }
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
* l" {8 @6 d8 Z+ @5 a- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ o1 l: U$ c- r6 r0 {5 @- }' ^- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 0 e7 _5 }# \& H1 v& Z
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-4 q1 ~1 K9 ]8 Z& Y
secondary training 4 l# ? r ]6 H- W+ K, b9 h! i
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) x* N( j4 o6 ?: L+ N- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
