FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
: k4 M0 t$ S! p4 cwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media * d$ u$ s" m, i
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 3 d0 i6 Z1 f( v- v4 ]* ~1 ^
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 2 w0 r% ^( u# E8 ]
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 1 Y1 Q. {! ~! |7 H x& _5 x4 g5 d
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ) C7 i6 N# p7 X) T9 F
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 1 Y* t, r, D: ?$ h+ Y1 \. |
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ( j/ Q, G8 ]: i0 T# b$ A5 {% H0 W+ J
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
; j$ D+ i2 ^2 S3 {% M, Y $ q& x8 ^. R0 `! w6 c
Duties: , N( _4 G5 U( Y% \' I5 L
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
$ h0 v; [9 ^; p" Q- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
# B c. x5 u2 X6 ]" ~- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 k! _& J( B# h! e( z- Assist with production logistics for programming events 5 R$ G( t G+ d" \/ J8 B% v. {
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff . M O7 M7 Z# B0 K! j0 F7 a; n
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- R; Z" B5 {5 T+ a9 }/ P0 Y! C- Provide vacation relief

3 W9 C0 a! K6 S- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-) `1 U2 I. v# D' H( ^
secondary training 1 \$ K& E; w: e" [+ K& d
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
$ ~4 j4 d9 m: ]" x7 m3 c- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks
