FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
; j5 h( N% V5 M" w* D; rwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

3 L5 p% Y3 Y4 w( Y$ A/ y2 w( c- VFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 ^# Y$ v d8 Kemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 3 D, R/ c5 r3 s
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 T7 K- W8 x2 U+ E: p8 y5 N1 G; H
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and - n- h* ?4 n2 g$ ], h6 K/ d
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ; G* \0 j! l) n0 B9 I! j" l

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 v; y; e5 |3 R7 r0 ]; F" D4 i1 M2 `Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
8 @. l1 N! O5 E+ s( dassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 3 F' ]5 A) e* s, D' C& C* @

Duties:
: q7 U7 @* u9 |) n0 o( J- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 z u6 m& X! X' Q. a& G4 ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
/ u" \# l( F! H4 ?( C/ s" X1 ^5 V- Assist with equipment maintenance ; H& S( X0 ?8 O t S
- Assist with production logistics for programming events " J( t, T1 ^: J
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 8 D6 `' l; d( c: H
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 C2 s9 a7 N" z1 j; p) W
- Provide vacation relief & P: J% e$ o$ G8 P7 v W

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment + ]; V* q# x2 F; w. R% H
- Advance organizational and research skills 6 _, y* b2 M) q' O9 d9 C; ^5 G3 T
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 6 r9 e5 h9 e( u$ C1 {
- Strong team player abilities : z3 m2 ?9 s8 H4 ~/ O
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors . ]. e% i4 i4 p, A% ~, J! a; m
