FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
! q2 @% F. b/ D# j9 W8 H. d4 pwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
1 I& }: Q1 @5 o B vartists from Northern Alberta. ! d6 P- l8 m1 p! _' R
1 U' s: J+ Z8 y: O/ {FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from } r0 g' c- C3 L( D, m9 W1 ]3 y
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 0 f3 E/ J2 R2 Y% [+ } `
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 0 E- q1 W/ E5 J* u- i
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 6 }6 Z' q5 |" H" q5 t8 T9 g
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
; ^1 X# Y1 N* w) h4 rDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 8 D% d7 J7 {- V1 k9 |
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ! m0 }3 y4 {4 Q" H
- Y9 Q( g$ x4 |4 C$ Y( ?
Duties: 6 t7 p$ J# t* p; x: N/ y' B! p
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 7 [! j( B Y- [$ r. ^2 o
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
* o2 X& w5 v) g$ Q: k0 Y; o- Assist with equipment maintenance
; y8 C) H& S ^5 n- Assist with production logistics for programming events 4 H; Z! ~- y m$ s: V" K/ l
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
' b3 s; o. J. {9 H1 r! W- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable / Q$ y, Q) P- z
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-' O4 F1 O3 Z4 D- I- G3 r
secondary training

0 {% U b9 t6 o5 w! b3 D- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
; W& o/ ]" l6 Q, I8 ]- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
4 i6 M5 H/ F0 r) R) d6 ^5 G- Advance organizational and research skills : w5 [7 H5 y5 I' p) C# T
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 7 W C7 F9 b, n2 s5 a: p
- Strong team player abilities
