FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ; | U6 C5 ] Z) R0 p. ~
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 8 f d7 K7 O& d
artists from Northern Alberta. / d! p% f3 K- A

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 I$ ~+ a' x3 Z1 P& `3 gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 5 F6 p$ r k6 F: _" S: n+ L0 W5 i8 `
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 J( b }4 i# E& n) G" b* B* o2 E
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& J! C/ u/ \% `/ Qscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 1 L- T, ?6 @; @

! n8 n. ?( |& n: Y/ e) aJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
( `/ s6 q& M* J( c+ l$ BDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
{: v% F7 t4 m8 d, Z S( Sassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

- Assist with research on acquisition grants
3 V6 c4 `# ?8 ~" l- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
# Q3 j* P' C5 b3 z- Assist with equipment maintenance
8 ^( D) o; o5 s: Z) g* @- Assist with production logistics for programming events + I, k1 x6 B7 S! y& `5 N
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 9 k3 \7 D1 o2 N) N1 ~: U
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-( A! r5 B* h7 s! ]7 d; ~2 H
secondary training 0 n3 w# t" g" p: f" e' `
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week / ~% G8 X& L0 q" K8 F/ _& n2 Z
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' G5 C% h5 e8 Y% e8 _- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts G$ }3 b5 R& G/ J' L
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ; _" u6 c$ E5 A( J. d7 G+ r
- Advance organizational and research skills 5 y6 z6 T% t( r% H
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
3 t3 K4 o- D% w- Strong team player abilities
0 G+ Y, e/ c' x; y2 ?- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
