FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

8 p9 k* m% ]- n xFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
& s3 y# r& A3 b1 V8 Q0 P$ t' h2 kemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & g/ l5 m$ q+ i
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 4 M( X; O. [# p3 @4 j# `
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ; a7 W4 @3 [. c: i6 G! l
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern + V0 K) A4 S1 M/ @: w9 E/ z2 B

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive " g3 j( k0 U: U
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
' j+ b$ E& _% v G' rassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. " r$ A( v; A9 ]. ] ?( p$ h
/ ^3 R) |& H! O$ J7 s$ B/ |/ q2 ^
Duties: ! R5 y6 z5 o) j: \0 ~& v
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 q% k5 x/ t) U- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 5 Z& h" B, T2 d1 J: v9 j
- Assist with equipment maintenance ( x9 W0 I+ _/ W2 a
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
$ d+ ]3 G3 x+ ]6 n$ j/ J4 D! J- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 2 `# F/ ?8 V4 i+ _. f4 h) g: {8 Q
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
5 j8 C6 d% E: F5 w& L- Advance organizational and research skills $ ?& ?2 e$ Q3 T1 B' z) y. k
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- H: t6 J+ G- C8 N0 ]# T% a- Strong team player abilities
# D [! Z! u) A( v- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
