FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
0 n! h# T; N6 s9 I9 ^6 G& ~2 [whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 6 }) b7 `+ |1 U& j. u% m+ t1 [5 p' S
artists from Northern Alberta.

and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ; P. A8 c, @4 c# {5 r
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
$ h3 s& l, p% g% z& h$ d' N8 |screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern : n& Y3 }* M3 ~# w4 u/ d

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
( {9 P& j7 c4 H% NDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
3 c; j9 U6 s$ _& ?/ q, vassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
& d2 n& E: ^: [) ~3 [ 9 R( `9 r3 ~3 f( |: v- B" B; q' n
Duties: 7 v5 A7 J7 k: c2 q4 @% j1 ]
- Assist with research on acquisition grants # W0 x2 R; C; f3 \
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
* e( c$ _" H$ |% ^3 p- Assist with equipment maintenance $ a0 o. a" `+ D( @, v) b
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
' P( L9 ~; i! C5 ~& @. Z) k. x- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- _4 F4 t0 [( K- j# g8 e* W- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ) z& H! D9 h% Z2 n
- Provide vacation relief 1 H9 w0 g. E2 y; j3 s. i$ X

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-% k7 G" T# V# t7 {9 D
secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
& I! y" X, E; z) E8 T- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
8 L; K, y v& o9 f7 |9 G+ g- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
# X( {4 z: m# M0 G- Advance organizational and research skills
3 x/ |! B! f# |/ P+ z2 \- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD ' i9 r2 d8 L% U! l5 ?1 R" P
- Strong team player abilities 1 ]: X' Y! }" G, H* h
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors S% h0 z/ S+ V: G
