7 y" c0 ?% J' j3 O- bFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
$ U- S/ D/ l; V3 V1 X% O  N2 `( wwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
- F2 L6 g  z% }3 a1 U8 J* e' m, ~artists from Northern Alberta.

$ q! Q3 C4 L1 U# P9 y2 {0 a! LFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 t9 W! U4 g# i; Qand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
' w; J# ^2 {  V( p; s$ G3 X; W. d, l: ?resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  S, m; Z  t" O4 B" O* N! nscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 K3 k0 m7 p' `Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
4 E0 _; c7 Z6 d9 v& @assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

. O3 }) g& l& k! RDuties:
& m% p% Y: q7 B! o3 I- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- E, L- d3 }8 L" o% {4 P- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
+ V- S$ U# }  [! ^3 ~' \# F* t- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

5 Z9 Q% R! \0 f- k- L. a7 n- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
0 J, ?% h9 y4 @% d- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& w0 J8 q- i) e6 [2 {4 u/ a& h- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
3 K2 L! S4 H2 a& Z" y3 q: t- e- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
