FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
2 R; U  i. z- g3 u- Z/ l. p: zwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
! b+ O4 i- v  j( Y  l- j% L, z  oand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
( _  W9 L2 O) @; j: C# _4 K& Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

) ?/ `: M. I2 ~/ T9 N  ^Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
# o( C! o7 ?" v2 f4 d4 r8 b7 cDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

; ?$ l1 U1 r' g/ a; G5 xDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ P  g$ _/ _3 s) l/ D- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
# n8 ^+ G0 ~. {: t# Y5 _& f- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
# Z2 X5 p8 n+ y; i9 D% J- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
0 C' R+ K; F/ Z- o/ u' f- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
& g6 D6 G9 u. WProgram (STEP)
! `# E* T5 \& @* K+ [8 @+ F- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
3 ]9 S; t" V4 ~) K/ ^( X- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
' \5 j1 H' a* f& X" D7 e- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
, |' H) |7 z+ _- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
; Z% T+ K/ T6 G" H- c$ _$ L2 d- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
