FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization ! j# t( m* Q9 H9 n
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 9 Y2 v& \( S* L8 e9 I5 p! ~5 \- J
artists from Northern Alberta. + F! C; z! H6 ?5 n4 {
3 Z( T, H$ i t/ ~* Z5 d! aFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 a2 w+ z& l ]9 p( lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
& `3 o3 k+ E) ]* H* c- xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a X. a; R5 }! C7 S- E4 K
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ' l' z! n+ l, {
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ) x. C2 I, a0 O8 g3 K

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive * [) _1 a) a) N* o
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 0 t! P7 L2 f; u& E6 k4 d. y3 z
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

1 ^: J0 Q1 }/ IDuties: - [# n- ]. m- O- Y& a
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 0 z: q! K6 `0 s) z
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
9 _5 B( |& f* N0 K p8 W- Assist with equipment maintenance ! \. [$ t# o! ~9 q$ w7 Z- P
- Assist with production logistics for programming events % C, x" K/ e0 l2 t8 r
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : Z9 x3 I: Y* b F4 Y" k3 M
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 5 b+ s+ P, P* X: F4 l
- Provide vacation relief x5 h/ `- d" c. k

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

9 y2 E! P, [/ x- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ! I7 [& T* @0 a5 }8 P7 @
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ( C9 T- D4 x; l( r( _
- Advance organizational and research skills
+ v. m2 V! M1 n( J! \8 ^+ V- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
' y% g" k6 j8 `( s% y- K- Strong team player abilities
