! @* s# M. T! B( XFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization . D; y) s) {+ f* [' n
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media * ] i4 Q }2 f g
artists from Northern Alberta.

8 h% Y2 G- R% l0 tFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 `9 H; r* k- }6 B- J, F
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 h% N, ^4 }8 O0 [and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# t5 {! T: U, A3 Z* Vresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. P5 t) u( j) p/ t- Tscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

]8 a: d5 z. u: Q9 aJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 2 T. K& _7 s! _1 i4 {, z4 J" N* M7 C9 c
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. r& e7 r7 {3 Q* T: Iassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
" J* f- q( o- x& q: F: q6 `- Assist with research on acquisition grants 5 f1 l/ ?! |) ]2 I# U$ _% c; F
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities , B) s8 b3 k& X7 D* _* P/ k5 P
- Assist with equipment maintenance
7 k. H$ C K2 f4 G% l" n- Assist with production logistics for programming events , C K5 |8 }7 V: T
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! p8 i6 |! `$ |- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable : \& y, I- }- } ^! ?0 C6 ?
- Provide vacation relief r6 x9 `. G6 N+ S4 \; d

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-) w' a, y) v3 d% c) C
secondary training
) d! y( o$ a: D. j+ |- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week ' u/ }8 a& C- G5 m& { k
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks z$ ]) @1 O* K' M* R+ k7 C

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
5 l; I$ K% i+ h4 }- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment ! W" f7 {' o, t u9 A+ w8 z
- Advance organizational and research skills 4 N# i" P- W! q, h
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 0 Y0 e. _0 V9 Y" [
- Strong team player abilities ( y( z* P7 Q2 b% V
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors # y, @3 ]& N5 p
