J3 a' X/ p. _3 z7 _5 ?/ GFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
: u( A; O, @9 m, h' }* pwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media ) r9 ~# Y1 L7 O6 }! n
artists from Northern Alberta. 6 O% {; k# L" C0 L
3 ]! J' y/ U/ J1 V) fFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ; W9 S: W( L/ x: D
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 5 ^) Y& g n5 }
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
- i* J* [/ p& iresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and # ~0 E3 l3 n$ c/ |) w
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern # E# w: K. W T; y5 e1 \

+ w# ~( _) C0 {+ h$ MJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 p" M6 ^5 g ~2 UDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
5 @7 t. |, d- H! `9 W. Lassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
+ X4 r3 L8 S* n4 | # `: n! ~, w2 p: k& n
Duties: 5 Q5 f ?& b0 v, y: t" [! E2 `
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
2 Y$ U& G: w+ j C) ?& E# V9 j9 N2 ]- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
5 V$ M7 u* S; A: P- Assist with equipment maintenance
+ C! z# h8 [) [/ ^- Assist with production logistics for programming events
+ x0 F, N( D- G; C7 y) F8 h- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
; {% k+ {$ o2 ^' r# _' O; S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 8 [9 ^4 d5 b6 g& \
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 4 B" O5 C1 |6 Z5 u& r# t6 G
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- w. m% X o6 j# @1 b) a! t- Advance organizational and research skills * v L8 R, c( m$ t4 O' D) Z
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD - N% }7 N, ]/ T) ^. Q
- Strong team player abilities / p5 \% y7 ^0 v% X* E6 R; G
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
