FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
9 L7 c: T% u% t0 b/ Zwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

+ ^: `9 F$ b7 Z5 ]  H4 a, K7 jFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
$ N/ e4 E. |8 H( S5 Eand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
1 \) g# `4 Q6 Z, Hscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

* `( A4 o9 X0 l% e- ]9 f, oJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
* R0 [9 U& T! D! r! xDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
! T4 e% t. @" Z$ ~% Oassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
% V+ \4 A- z% w
9 g" I4 _; l! }8 P, ]1 t" w' BDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
5 N% W- F/ I& S' l. Y) h* `- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
5 L, f: \+ v  }  ]3 z8 O; Y6 e- Assist with equipment maintenance
/ b+ V% q9 d) B- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
; C  T( G  y  n6 ?0 Z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
& c5 q0 L. r/ t8 ]8 \7 Nsecondary training
1 ?! {) l. B- j. T/ _1 \3 I$ P: H- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& U- W" O' K) v" J- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills

) O  k3 o/ i- O& _* d0 ^- Strong team player abilities
1 E) g( Y  R& J* f- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
