FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
4 b' T: Y* j1 ~6 ]whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 5 W l/ d6 W8 C7 d
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
) ?9 s' p# S2 M" T% B4 N& @emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
# M5 F0 U7 h& p3 ^$ @" kand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
* T9 f5 W, t$ o3 v( Nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* p7 m0 W) J% `5 ~/ M) g2 E$ mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 2 E2 ^! E# p& {5 T# R' u1 B7 S

' Q3 h! T* f. F: f- z+ [Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ( ]4 ^" ^, s0 A3 F
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ]8 c. k7 D# I ]( }9 S6 L
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ( i! m1 p# K, {% F: d' i
% ?% D- q5 q0 s! hDuties:
; ^( P: `; R0 g- Assist with research on acquisition grants 3 |! D2 q) L$ Q5 P- c
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 6 ?% d6 M l8 }; z
- Assist with equipment maintenance 3 p: C- ?9 G% L J I" N
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
3 ? v9 T) L$ ~5 g5 R7 {- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 3 u: L# w y/ |3 Z, s6 `
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: i( a' P4 j, A% ~7 J! c
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 0 h7 v" f8 e$ |& B+ ?5 c b3 C
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
6 w0 p5 |6 v0 p: X3 T- Advance organizational and research skills
) V4 A: q9 p, A2 n- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
