7 I0 U9 `4 m) G( t: kFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from # P6 _% i- @! F
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
7 r* ?( V! q0 A+ j! A4 gand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
0 O' L+ Q/ t' U; L2 @resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and / p) }/ M; k: V6 A0 A H
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 2 Y( u/ q! c# T% e, p! k% {3 V; `6 S

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
O5 h# g+ S1 g9 L% p+ EDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ) o# o. O, o* n" I F: t/ Y
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
0 E& Y3 l( u Y! D- j4 K4 L D! o1 P/ A' _6 a. t$ H
Duties:
, j; ~$ H. G7 j" y" K w- Assist with research on acquisition grants
& F, U6 l' A5 q( q- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
) O2 F# J I8 [- Assist with equipment maintenance + b/ |+ [. J& i( p3 j u
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
+ c8 f/ ^! y2 b* ^. S& r: y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff - ^* }7 z' o+ H6 X9 m# k. F' @
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ) q. a) J& k A8 D/ A
- Provide vacation relief ' }: e7 }6 Y3 U# s1 V) c
& a# q3 O$ ?8 Y4 A* `* ?

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-7 p9 g3 w* W2 s! H4 c% H8 ^
secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
, x' m% \" f; U# J. R- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts % J, c4 n# F# h- z6 b5 h0 [7 v
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
6 g' ]7 F% s# O( L1 a" \- Advance organizational and research skills " Z: Y* F0 `, R' D1 g* M7 n
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD : ~' t# P2 }1 M w0 _% d- o7 E1 W; R
- Strong team player abilities
