3 i* ^2 E* Q5 mFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 0 e4 k) j' x+ P+ J, \
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
/ Z0 d- J& t) I/ partists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 3 C, y% F) h9 H5 J/ [) c+ A
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 6 N4 {+ H) D( R" `" V* P# J
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
9 i8 j, m2 u" ?) nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* L: {1 o1 b1 P A1 E7 Lscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern : ?6 R' O1 K! `1 f
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
0 c! n$ E3 r$ Y ]) @Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by . |9 m! g$ D- n9 q; g R. H8 _
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties: 9 O# l' p4 i4 s# T9 D! S4 y! J
- Assist with research on acquisition grants $ r/ r" ~% X. g% f& y% j A
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
& a* x) O1 [- q4 N# [/ e' ~3 L- Assist with equipment maintenance " A1 e: W, s7 {) q
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
, D4 Y* I6 k5 _! v: T+ Q# N- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 j+ z( Z+ r) J, Y3 f- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-/ |/ R" g$ P4 r, u2 w5 q

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 6 O( q; o/ f0 \. ~# i9 Y u
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks $ G$ O3 {) L& Q; p3 D8 a$ ~0 p. ^" F

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: / ` r3 U2 n) f# j
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ' W; D- B7 C8 W0 X) h+ B2 R
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
0 N" Y! S% }, u6 N" p- Advance organizational and research skills
/ J9 I9 C2 L( B1 X* |# T' B8 {- X- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
