FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
( U% a, u' b' z; ]& Cwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media * I1 M# y1 |7 y- J) ?* Q
artists from Northern Alberta. . H; {/ @' R/ O" q: P& _- E; V
2 r! k ^ q" Y) f/ lFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
! a2 h4 y' v% r* \' T( ]emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
! Q6 \% a) G" L, zand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
" [9 e- i h) f! |5 `; sresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
4 Q4 U5 S0 t. T) j: {+ R/ m+ ascreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

5 ]$ o: W2 c' C6 i. l+ R) `+ d' p3 SJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
w* r% p: o, w1 ?" SDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ( [& W) u: v) ^5 h; t
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

- Assist with research on acquisition grants
$ s9 f) D& e! G9 ]9 r- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
/ x" W1 o- P, R( e( u4 Z6 |- Assist with equipment maintenance , }% _9 t, O' o6 d
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- w V7 \7 N" ^) w4 z. O- A0 p- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ; _1 x$ l3 q6 c p% o: ]. O
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable # `( m7 T8 X& } a. ?4 y
- Provide vacation relief

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; a6 M. _, S- B6 W- Advance organizational and research skills
; F; ~: e" c `6 Y" o) a0 a- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD , z/ F, O! p5 q( {5 m
- Strong team player abilities
& g. g( H- K4 q8 d0 }- L" n6 q- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors * f' Y0 r; A1 N+ q b
