FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization X. c& N0 Y% l9 J
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media $ O8 ^9 Q& _% J2 {% \" F8 i( k
artists from Northern Alberta. . H# `" f9 @7 F2 T0 v
. }( _8 w4 w8 |% c6 ~8 J9 oFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 q0 _* p, ?4 z6 R, Gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 1 w% r& R! L' X9 A
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a $ q) t+ D2 R! Y1 c1 F' y
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
% O3 a; x1 |# X0 Oscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive & m9 f9 `9 k' U3 q9 b
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by V% c- q! p1 D2 D
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

3 h3 a- C0 p5 ~8 k7 H% K4 u8 b5 s- Assist with research on acquisition grants 0 U8 P: S" `7 s
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ) U& R- z9 r; c) S" q1 j
- Assist with equipment maintenance & k6 g4 {! Z& q" `: h
- Assist with production logistics for programming events 8 ]- d/ Q6 s+ ]" H2 [# d! h
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff & x% C% s& b" ?9 l* r* a
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 0 v, B! a; z. K- @9 f( I/ r) X+ b
- Provide vacation relief

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

2 O1 \2 t) }% s2 A- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
1 j2 E# x) ]3 y9 o: m- Advance organizational and research skills
' l8 z( h M/ O- A6 B7 S- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD % k# H1 t. z1 P" D
- Strong team player abilities
