FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

5 C' f( y' u( [artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
7 w: Z+ ?+ e& N: s- h) z1 _8 w& `resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- C" d# u& a& S5 C7 wscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
4 B3 y: u$ @) S( HAlberta.

8 o" c. f$ S* O+ z# h2 nJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

8 ~% B; K2 y" U/ j5 SDuties:
& @7 q7 G' b% x5 t+ P' ?- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
8 W  ?- w! ~  o) R+ C5 C3 t- Assist with equipment maintenance
3 V7 ^* v6 Y5 L; J+ K- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
+ [9 u# m% g" X4 e  `$ c7 ~% E- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

* K, u' f, o* W$ y& ^' R/ Z0 I- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
  G2 v8 H. y/ ~& _6 K+ K7 o3 Ksecondary training
2 I5 T9 |, I6 Q( S- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

3 @. q- q0 H% Y5 L2 I* S% q2 fQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
