Duties
: G9 {/ F' h& ]
. O7 v! o, }3 k) Y. A * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications7 U* C n3 s! B" S1 J1 J' L& L
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
! F* S8 Q2 e G * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
% S& L% Y8 L% N) n3 W * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students + d/ c' D3 G$ h8 L6 X* M7 `
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
% p- A( c1 J! y* V4 [/ |' u" N * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
0 N1 x7 S5 p- L P7 o * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment; C+ J( Y9 r& V# p; ~5 v8 M7 n

% ~, E8 c0 N9 T1 U# t* ?) I+ Y * Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
# ^0 V2 a) _/ {1 c+ n$ ` } * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
