; R. j# L. p8 B, w * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications9 J: }6 y4 D- F6 ^* q2 R
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
j& e( R/ _; J/ [4 v * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
. ~ Z, N" x4 p. q6 k/ l * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
1 n* G( ^: R/ `* d2 Z4 ~ * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies/ {) ~$ P' t" l/ k9 U- N- ?
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs1 B+ H1 z! `* ]% L' T
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
$ c- N2 h0 I- A! K * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
