/ ?+ g- Q9 f" R. I/ q5 g8 w/ K * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
; I* Q# U5 I, ?* Q; [% ? * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
* E. H/ s& C: ~ D# ]6 i% l/ ` * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
, L2 y9 R: X: h * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
6 U" t- p7 r) L * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies; z% t1 b* N" w( M% t8 n! c+ h
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs- J, h+ s; {7 S1 T
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment4 j& D) A+ U/ _" E* r

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred6 q" u6 J2 A, K( j
