FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) and two of its contractors are headed to court next month after being charged with dumping partially-treated sewage from two work camps into a northern Alberta river.7 O+ W+ q" ~" ]
- R) f( \* s5 G6 [The contractors charged are the Compass Group of Canada, which ran the camps, and Rodney McCabe, whose now-defunct company operated the two wastewater plants.5 S3 b# @6 c) h( n+ M

The charges laid last year under Alberta's Environmental Protection Act include failing to properly treat wastewater and providing false or misleading information to the environment ministry.3 O0 `0 j. M/ ]/ O
+ P$ d7 u0 O& x$ \Environment Minister Rob Renner says the charges were laid after a routine audit found problems with the sewage discharge into the Athabasca River.

McCabe and Compass are refusing comment, but a Suncor spokesman says the sewage likely had very little impact on the water quality in the river.
