, i o/ |) e$ [5 gFORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) and two of its contractors are headed to court next month after being charged with dumping partially-treated sewage from two work camps into a northern Alberta river.

The contractors charged are the Compass Group of Canada, which ran the camps, and Rodney McCabe, whose now-defunct company operated the two wastewater plants.+ d- C3 j+ V- B4 |; m* v1 l7 Y
5 L9 X% w& S. ]1 @" n3 r* Y6 {1 ?The charges laid last year under Alberta's Environmental Protection Act include failing to properly treat wastewater and providing false or misleading information to the environment ministry.

- ]6 u: t9 A1 C0 YEnvironment Minister Rob Renner says the charges were laid after a routine audit found problems with the sewage discharge into the Athabasca River.6 `. }! H- u: T2 X9 n& X
2 N9 f! }! ~0 \) NMcCabe and Compass are refusing comment, but a Suncor spokesman says the sewage likely had very little impact on the water quality in the river.
