months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan. , A# V0 r% T" g B( a
A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at
) Z# J e* l t2 V9 |( U# l/ Nleast $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount.

There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face ( |$ |$ j: w6 a( e0 D" L
of so much news. These reasons are:

! s Y0 I4 B' R) f5 H- [1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and

2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. ( A+ Y1 [3 |" ^

3. New methods of injecting CO2 and surfactants into oil wells is

4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio + ], ]. q$ }. Y* a
fuel is being produced from many plants and algae. The production

are now selling their used oil to bio-diesel producers. Every pork,
e) C: P) b* R- {9 R& v2 l3 fcattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat 4 p) f u" ?, U
to bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
/ \# t& p8 L: c1 ^ I: Qproducing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

expected to be built in the future. Much of the energy they produce

' T5 a7 B O% F. j6 P& pare experiencing 20% to 25% better fuel econony with the new
+ _- z1 d8 C! c- E' X* }, V6 Nequipment.

capture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas 6 c( ~- i9 V* m9 Q
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude ; O0 `# `6 n+ D' X' z% I2 o
oil. 3 F: v. N. \: G# y
) _ K, r5 e6 Z0 a" ^- a" t/ X: ? _& D8 [9 U
9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2 1 O. M8 Y+ K$ Y, C3 O, ]# D5 D
produced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into
& m+ d/ b" [# woil wells.
' E5 ~+ H% f1 s+ ?5 u7 z i. Y" ?( {) }) [; x- L
* s7 G' v0 U2 t3 w; j+ L8 C0 U( j
10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy
8 {9 [/ h% C% M' I/ j2 ?source. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US.

Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the 0 ` c" X5 W t) b$ }% `4 F7 J
price of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world - r$ ^2 ]1 X5 z+ ]
changing. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability 3 i6 I8 b s- W v: l# |
to control oil prices.
