Recently OPEC reduced crude oil production twice over just a few }" A! r4 K* `
months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan.
" s( Y7 K5 @% C5 ~/ f. yA year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at 2 e7 H" }, @+ h* f2 K0 F
least $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount. ! j, i- }* }) W# X6 u4 R

There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face 9 I8 V. K! {# z0 W
of so much news. These reasons are:

in the ocean near Brazil. Each of these oil fields has more oil than

8 }2 F4 \. e7 E6 c' P+ g9 G2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. - n, O9 M. e3 [* c

4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio

potential per acre in some cases is astounding. Many countries are # h6 m& J% f7 M3 \, e( W& ]4 D
racing to produce bio fuels.

cattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat 5 N) f" l: Q( c4 i4 j" a; P Z
to bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
! I7 y0 v! n! \producing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

with new more fuel efficient equipment. Airlines and railway companies

- v. x6 e% }, n6 z9 SAirlines are flying airplanes with bio-fuel. They are finding the bio-

$ Q, L% i# {5 ~8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to . Q2 t) n) D" E% ^" w
capture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas , K+ p% X% A! d O4 H
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude 9 {% O* y3 r0 l# e/ {- C
oil.

9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2
0 K/ L& ] z5 m2 y# eproduced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into
0 N2 K' x8 V3 x& i7 ~5 N% ioil wells.
% B- A2 @% b. O9 I; s0 p+ t- d1 L1 J' [# t: H& _% O5 A N; ?% m. _4 _

10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy 5 Z9 B: D* c2 q
source. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US. + I+ m5 o6 q! F( H- u4 y

Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the

changing. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability : W: @2 E! q" ^
