months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan. 5 C. x' c; a! @. U/ H' `; j
A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at . r2 d B y2 }
least $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount.

There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face * M! w4 I" m2 v0 Y
of so much news. These reasons are:

1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and ) D+ q' Q& ]6 L; r8 w
in the ocean near Brazil. Each of these oil fields has more oil than " O# L; G7 Y2 a7 c' _2 z- n3 q4 Y
Arabia. o' Y9 Q, e: H& \1 b

2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

; c& K# d- ^: D3. New methods of injecting CO2 and surfactants into oil wells is

potential per acre in some cases is astounding. Many countries are 6 J# A* R; j0 \" c- E; t
racing to produce bio fuels.

cattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat
W# \" N6 [* I0 T3 mto bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is 1 @9 e7 m) A5 `. z0 P h9 I) l
producing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

! n4 e2 W# i5 X' E! i: W6. There are 99 nuclear reactors in various stages of planning and / h! B6 b+ y/ K" r$ f3 U; d$ H
construction around the world at this time. Several hundred more are

will replace oil.

Airlines are flying airplanes with bio-fuel. They are finding the bio- 3 Z5 w! |6 L* }, d2 m8 Q* v [1 h' c
fuel is cleaner and performs better than jet fuel. 3 x* x; t2 `0 y- z: p T

* F( i' o3 ~: n. d9 z8 e8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to * c- P% w( @% c% a, Z
capture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas : N& _ b2 f* E) J0 n- `. z# f
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude
% E: x' l8 B3 L" m: {6 Foil.

' P3 o- V. l a9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2 & R0 `' X% o" L! }* U* ?/ W4 v
produced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into ) ]- B; Z6 ]% H3 c! A, V
oil wells.

10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy
. m h0 r! I) B9 c! c5 Y- Nsource. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US.

Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the
/ v/ \/ J9 b3 Z/ f+ Z U" ?4 ~price of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world
8 _" ~& n6 C j1 f8 q: w, ochanging. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability ) a" g' H( s* \2 ~+ V
to control oil prices.
