6 |5 ], A# m+ V& p- H5 lEdmonton — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a west-end apartment yesterday morning.

Ambulance personnel were called to the building at 9023 184 St. at around 4:20 a.m., found the body of a 50-year-old woman inside one of the suites, and called police.

Investigators have not released the cause of death, but are calling the death suspicious.

+ A1 u% [8 W; _/ [Police say the address is known to west division officers, who have responded to the suite several times in the past for family-related disturbances.

2 c4 g8 R1 f4 G  _( QOfficers are speaking to a 20-year-old man who lived in the suite with the woman.

Yellow police tape surrounded the entrance to the eight-unit, three-storey tall building as tight-lipped EPS officers walked in and out of the home throughout the day.

* N/ S* P) }+ x6 m3 O/ e$ kA twisted samurai-style sword lay on the ground a few steps from the entrance, the only sign of anything amiss in the quiet complex.

* \3 }# M9 ^- a  W# Q Though neighbours say they did not hear anything yesterday morning, some say the neighbourhood is less safe than it used to be.

1 k( b+ |1 O( L! ?1 ~% I4 }“My granddaughter is 20 and is scared to go out,” Joan Harvey said while visiting her relative yesterday afternoon. “I’m scared for her.”

: R2 r% ]7 r6 LIf the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the 29th this year, ahead of 27 this time last year.
