           What to do if you are in a car accident

6 X  \; @% E, _% s# q& X0 aStep1.        If possible, stop your car in a safe and visible place. If a car
                cannot be moved, turn on the hazard lights. Turn off the

Step2.        Determine if anyone is injured. Do not move an injured person.

Step3.        Call 911 for the police and ambulance (if needed) immediately.

' e4 X. b& p' u1 VStep4.        If another vehicle is involved, get the car’s year, make, model
                and license plate number; the driver’s name, address and license
5 o0 [/ `/ ?. A5 q: e2 ?                number; and the name of his or her insurance company. If the
                driver does not own the car, get the name of the car’s owner.
                Write down names and addresses of other passengers or
# K( `) Z$ G9 O3 ~, W/ V, }; h3 j                witnesses. If you have a camera take pictures of the accident
+ q  g( A$ q1 a                scene.
. F% I6 v  ^8 C; J8 g6 |! o
+ r, K6 S/ l' O4 M$ R2 N4 BStep5.        The police officer will give you a copy of the collision report.

" y7 v- r' i9 g( |1 r5 }* s2 xStep6.        Cooperate with the police, but do not admit guilt for the
  f/ Q1 ^4 w! ~6 A# J4 P1 k7 [  F                accident in any way. You may be required to show proof of
                insurance, but do not reveal how much coverage you have.

Step7.        Do not accept any money the other driver may offer. By
0 N9 \: K% N/ i1 @8 ]. `                accepting money, you may give up your right to file a claim
                against the other driver, even if the damages turn out to be
                more extensive than you first thought.

Step8.        Do not agree to forget about a minor accident. You may see
& X8 }4 Z) [. R6 K                later that there were hidden damages or injuries. The other
                person may even file a lawsuit against you.
& a% G3 v3 f' c" F1 W5 T) S
Step9.        Write an account of what happened: time of day, weather,
# G  [; v/ M! _6 r                hazards, road conditions and driving speed. Draw a picture of
                the site, showing stop signs, signal lights, etc. Try to measure
                skid marks and determine the point of impact. Note any damage
. U  l4 k9 r/ U7 F- c! d                already on other cars involved. If a camera is available, take
                pictures of the accident.

Step10.    Report the accident to your insurance agent or insurance
1 @+ |) e, V( X/ _                company as soon as possible. Call a lawyer Bruce King, to discuss
                your accident.

                汽车牌照号码，司机姓名，地址，驾照号码和他（或她）的保险公司
                名称。如果司机不是车主，要知道车主的姓名。记下其他乘客或目击
                证人的姓名地址。如果你有相机在身边，把车祸现场拍照。

第五，        警察会给一个撞车报告。
