The pain of our loss is beyond anything we could

: p; w# z$ `2 x  o# t: a" X0 k0 v> and over again people tell us that they could never
8 t  S. T# f: G1 b% e> begin to understand the
% E; P3 x% j; c2 L! J7 u> depth of our loss. That is true. But we know of One
' J* n+ z3 ~9 t" H  e: F> who does understand and
> feel our pain because He lost His son, too. It
% C8 }/ ^* N8 X1 s' h' y1 g> happened when God gave the
2 s4 P* V8 Y  b9 H: I# e, D: x> sinless life of His son ant the cross to redeem
* ]' }) N+ s$ o' I7 {> sinful lives and to purchase
1 r; v9 [# D  z$ b+ ~> forgiveness for us all. There days later, He raised
+ q% z( o, H; O4 E2 R6 I> His son from the dead
# e! w4 E' B6 {; L$ O0 P- s* k> and conquered death. It is though this event where
> human history was
8 g4 q# E7 t; w  S> intersected by divine grace and mercy that we have
' b( v* O2 i2 n: V> hope. This hope, that's
/ J9 [0 [) ?' q# X> what's sustaining us. It's not an idle wish, but a
; M( s  A6 ^* q  Y$ M  g> certainty based on the
' W9 s& D3 c0 Q3 A* v; I* W3 f6 G> promise of God. And this hope fills us with eager
  d7 J/ M$ M6 L, R3 W" @0 `> anticipation and a longing
> for the time when we shall be forever with the Lord.

# K/ B7 c4 N4 D3 j( t> will ease the pain of our loss, as the Prince of
- X$ \5 G7 p( S9 p" `  {3 y2 A# V> Peace comes to our hearts
> and says to be still and know that I am God.

> Peter told me a year ago, "Dad, if something ever
> happens to me, I want
> people to hear about Jesus and to hear about hope."
