Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program
6 C: H* P L7 W- X3 U6 F6 Z7 ^1 ~ * Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities9 o4 }4 t- ~# j
* Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes
) v6 f6 w, z, ?6 u' }" V. N * Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat' I( C, } ?, @+ J! w0 \7 E8 j& ?
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders
/ n) [/ c1 M: Z5 x * Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements
1 n4 b3 G5 n0 _0 e9 C$ f& C * Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs8 M$ F& v% m. F# ]: M( a% m* v
* Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director
7 C% I9 U6 D0 E * Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning8 l4 _8 x2 W# Q, m1 E1 j G1 Z7 M
* Develops high quality promotional and educational materials. y) d3 R3 x2 ^& ~
* Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media
% ?( s& f" V5 d) b$ K3 l1 a * Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results0 S: e: n( G; Q& t( l6 h& X3 ?
* Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies5 T1 V$ W3 Y+ P

' Q& V6 `7 ^. g/ X4 O( k * Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred, g3 p! \4 N7 B5 v8 }
* Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth" e0 @; ^" |$ ?- e
* Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
+ Q- E/ V4 V0 X2 q, j# m * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies6 z/ \# r# N+ B; c1 y: \9 k- H3 g
* Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
8 Z' A& V7 U) \# ^& L3 G * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning+ P: @5 T% O2 j! O
* Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
