A 33-year-old man is dead following a shooting in the city's west end yesterday.

Police say the man died after someone dropped him off at a city hospital with suspicious life-threatening injuries. He died a short time later, and now homicide investigators are probing the case.4 d4 S2 G2 O% B$ S+ d

Cops believe the shooting took place somewhere near 172 Street and 94 Avenue some time between 5 and 6 a.m. yesterday, but figuring out exactly where it happened has been difficult.

"Narrowing down the scene is proving to be a challenge," said police spokesman Jeff Wuite, who noted the original call about the case came from staff at the hospital.6 x) w, a0 Q/ c6 _( d

Eileen Wear, 60, said she was driving yesterday when she came across a large swath of police tape blocking the area. Cops were in the park with their heads down.- {. x- A$ x9 Z8 V% g6 W

Now, police hope an autopsy this week will give them a better picture of the man's death.8 k4 s0 W- {6 T' B/ j

As well, they want whoever dropped him off at the hospital to come forward. They'd also like to hear from any residents in the area who might have noticed suspicious activity, Wuite noted. t, g4 x1 | G" W3 A( r `

In the meantime, Wear said news of the case was disturbing, especially since many seniors live in the area.

"This is very, very unexpected in this neighbourhood," she said.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man is recovering from a stabbing early yesterday that police believe stemmed from an altercation at a house party.7 @ F" j' U' o8 L3 d$ b

Around 2 a.m. yesterday, cops were called to the area of 107 Avenue and 126 Street, where they found the teen suffering from a stab wound.& i: x2 ~8 Z4 C" ?( E; ~

He was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.6 C/ J% e. B; i* s, k1 i

And yesterday afternoon a 50-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at 106 Street and 47 Avenue.
