* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
5 y; v2 O2 X" Z a$ e0 @, @ * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
2 V `; J/ k+ a1 {; D% R * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
1 V! A: e5 m4 u2 m" k * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client c. X9 x, h5 {; D# ]
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry7 p/ s6 z* X( `3 {, b, m% t- }
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
9 n5 u% i, h/ T) Q% Z4 ?+ T- T+ x * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab5 q1 W8 o" L t- K- C9 m$ o5 j
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices9 X. j+ q& |5 K; m1 t
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

) V9 o% Y$ g5 N6 j" G ? * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred- ]* d+ R2 ~7 q( C V: \# J4 \# o
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)/ l" c+ I2 ?$ z0 A. w
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
& W2 G% x Y$ d: X0 I+ v * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
