Duties
) v/ m( N0 i3 s# E/ M1 L2 q6 g' v7 R, L$ @! C+ j
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
/ S, v, l; F$ {" y * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
) U9 ]& _- E) F: @/ o * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques% {. i( }. g/ e+ a. ~6 _6 H; y
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
# P7 v5 m9 y! ~# U6 ^( S * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry' J0 ^9 x- C H7 H& a- f
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
# o: n: H# V% X! l * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
' \' S3 x1 V1 o$ }0 ^" ] * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices1 J) ~( }: ]! J/ k# M& x9 |# Q
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred$ S$ G/ H) U) U- R& E
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab); \7 [; n- Y. I. Q
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel+ m4 k3 V% Y. L2 |+ @3 \
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
