Duties

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
- ]' c8 b, k( p' i o8 B( R * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
" k4 g* R# t/ E/ q. J * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques- V$ X- F2 w, S
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
! K* G, q/ G4 [ * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
9 E2 s! a8 P ?2 ~ * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals$ Q1 G- B5 o: {8 T, Z! l/ ?
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
: y. d) n5 [( ` * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices- K) o$ A6 K+ J0 g( m n/ G5 R
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)$ Q7 e5 C3 T2 S% W. o% ~8 m

/ H4 R( Y; e! J * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred6 R" r4 y* M+ l
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)' H) k* A! u# I3 M! V$ R1 c
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
7 m- G# r! K+ q0 {' U * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures6 i% {. x8 j% C! G1 B9 C
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
