* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis" s9 W* l7 \; T+ V
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography1 e* `( C9 t0 G
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques( f* H! o; I0 g
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client: q* t& T: T. s: q) c" n1 f; K
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry) n) s1 | l2 E2 `, j
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
" F! S" p, Z% `* }4 J) y" o * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
$ A8 k- o' m% ]3 ?. y# O * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
- v/ |0 {+ S0 c, p" m/ Z) s * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)! ]9 Y7 E/ P$ V2 T

Qualifications$ c( l9 v, r$ z) V% V

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred# _5 }+ g3 l% B: x- l+ Z( |7 z; {! S
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
; ?# T+ e6 M; y) F3 U * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel! ]4 s9 W1 _; ~& I
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
+ [4 A8 C& f- U7 A i+ s * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment4 m1 v5 i4 t0 T' ?. }5 c" f
