Full-time ETS Conventional Transit Operators may be required to operate a variety of vehicles including the 40’ diesel bus, 40’ diesel/electric buses, Hybrid buses, the 60’ articulated bus, the trolley coach, and the community service bus. Shifts are typically ‘split’ (2 segments of work during a day) to cover the morning and evening peak rush hours, Monday through Friday. Full-time Conventional Transit Operators work various shifts (straight or split) any 5 days of the week with a guaranteed minimum of 67.5 hours bi-weekly the first year. After one year of satisfactory performance and attendance, the guaranteed minimum increases to 74 hours bi-weekly.

Grade eleven (11) or equivalent combination of training and experience.

7 Q5 J* q2 f7 {Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s licence (non-probationary and non-graduated Class 5 status). Must have held valid operator’s licence for three (3) consecutive years.
" G9 X6 D" w( Q% A% PApplicant's must provide a current driver’s abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous two-year period. The abstract is not required at the time of application, but it must be presented before testing or interviewing can proceed. t! H; W; a0 S8 q
Applicants must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job (e.g. operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide assistance to passengers with wheelchairs, strollers etc.) 4 L" ]& a7 n) _
Applicants must be able to pass a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation test (F.A.R.E.) and a City of Edmonton medical examination.

Applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s Class 2 written test (at applicant’s expense) and Class 2 medical exam prior to training. The Class 2 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's road exam will take place during training.

Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.
