1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
( l; B0 w! f, ~3 m( X$ a8 Y• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
# }: y. Y# G5 `( a. n• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals) [+ F1 X9 F" l5 `1 q5 |: Y3 T
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored1 A: d! L: o6 }4 t1 q* ?
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals. v0 a" ~- y+ y3 T* ?
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.: M9 v+ O" p$ X4 c8 F ~; g

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s): c5 c7 m3 E! k9 g$ q& {
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

; H. }+ U7 W# s8 S' g# t• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s ' ]9 {8 W+ w- v

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

This is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
