What activities will I do during my road test?

You are required to know and demonstrate:

Who is my Examiner?

· The Examiner will introduce him/herself and provide proof of identification, when requested.) R, U# p7 i% b. M' o9 q
· All Driver Examiners are licensed by Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation under the Driver Training8 }/ X: v, h8 H
and Driver Examination Regulation. They are monitored to ensure they provide high quality road$ K2 ~8 f# J# B5 q8 V0 V5 h7 R9 X, }
tests. They should be courteous and professional, keeping conversation at all times relevant to the

then you must also provide acceptable photo ID.2 [% R# o: H0 A& H' {
· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the
4 \5 i4 N4 k4 ]. h, Nweather conditions (in case your vehicle breaks down and you have to wait or walk).6 a3 Q- f: p3 L7 g7 F6 t* W$ {
· Your vehicle must meet all legal requirements (good mechanical condition, valid
5 A b M. ]4 S+ Y, Finsurance and registration) and have enough fuel for at least one hour of driving.

The Examiner will do a vehicle check with you. You will be in the driver’s seat and the examiner will ask you to
1 J7 O& C( Y4 b1 Q7 zassist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and
! ]3 @. }/ J. G8 p' d$ W# J' ]demonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield
. Y$ M1 ]3 Z3 E% D9 k7 W. Y; xwipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions$ g& u) K+ I* E* ?, S: E

While Driving …

· You will be given ample instruction in advance for each manoeuvre and activity.
9 c0 Y8 M2 h2 y. ~+ v% v% m· Points will be assigned for errors. You will be allowed a maximum of 75 points to pass the road test.0 D8 W- k# P8 m9 }" Q2 y; q5 U6 H
You must not do anything that is considered unlawful, dangerous, or unsafe, (for example, speeding or not

· The Examiner will not try to trick you.
0 L: z% b% F0 @6 n, f· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal.

the areas you need to improve upon. The points for errors will be explained at this time.7 R8 d) o- R T' s7 p2 F

The Examiner will give you a copy of the Driver Examination Checklist form. You will also be given a copy of the
, ]) G2 I) j( _" i1 @ x; H+ eTest Permit. This will indicate that you have passed. Take this permit, along with your learner’s licence, to any4 W5 l( b* X: t
Alberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this
