He also brushed aside a plea from the province's aboriginal chiefs to halt approval of new projects.1 ]& c' Q+ C7 B+ L

Stelmach, who famously said he doesn't believe in "touching the brake" on development, dismissed as preliminary a call for an immediate suspension of government land-lease sales in three massive environmentally sensitive swaths of northern Alberta.$ G1 y* w% P6 Q: z# [' ]% g8 H
, a* Y/ c) D# y \4 d& GI'm in shock, even the energy giants are telling our government to put the brakes on oilsands development and Stelmach still refuses to do anything about it. Is he completely deaf/dumb/blind? I think the majority of Albertans realize that something needs to be done, whatever that something may be. I don't understand how Stelmach feels it is O.K. to be so careless. |
