Position title: Community Development Worker

; Z9 i2 E2 z3 h; A% mPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
; T9 \2 M# B: }9 G. j- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services1 b0 t: C U6 j( g2 \6 [
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members
4 v) e# X% o. A4 k- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
/ U3 S* h2 T# A R. Y, v- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities
& h! h" ?8 Z4 t& S- update ASSIST website- z0 ]+ Z' ]$ v: ?& l
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
. O9 X ]$ W) A% i2 o- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
7 V, R# J5 b5 [1 u+ k" t: J- assist in writing proposal for ISP
& ~$ e: o4 I/ P: ^7 f% M- write quarterly and final reports for ISP3 g" Q* x9 M( Z
- explore new ideas for ISP . p* [% U2 O8 t# s" v. L% k
- hold regular meetings with ISP team) m' p, L! @ X. e" Y
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time+ y4 v. m3 `+ {3 V, Y Y" Q
- update membership database

Qualifications, q) Q5 z Q8 @
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
+ V# ?) Q4 K- O7 n- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
# @1 Z% n, R2 ~: C6 M+ l- experience in community work and immigrant services1 u* H; I' R* c0 Q
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
/ O6 I D) j2 t- leadership skills
