2 B7 o1 U' _: N/ x" tEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.1 Y3 z7 S8 K) F# l' l, t

FUNCTIONS:
0 H; {; D9 a& t; X9 Y• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.' U5 ], e3 L# p% N, r0 z
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
6 h0 m4 {! \5 |( D/ O+ w• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.+ W8 W# G: M* v; S, M
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Adhere to schedules.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.# v3 m- K6 B4 v9 U% s2 h
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
& A6 g) n! L" V" j; S/ oto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
. R- v- G0 f0 {2 c0 k" R, w3 y, _/ }• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
0 e6 T$ U5 l( [2 a8 Z• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.8 w# f0 C& ?5 |7 f2 V; H; c
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ) ?8 `# r4 y- v, |0 i. [3 }- X. _4 A
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 4 u( k2 U, j7 F$ g% Z' j7 }4 f
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill * S' s" `( K8 V+ l$ {3 t- ~- o
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).6 W! [+ w: x! u3 m$ S) ~* x
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program., D$ Q5 q3 `( ^- c3 h, ?6 N& c
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.9 L: Y; |) ~2 a& Z& |

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
