Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.) ]7 Z: y8 y6 }- C4 G
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.1 K. T+ G, w2 c
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

and traffic conditions.

; q9 `7 E5 m/ `0 w• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).

• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.: O6 Z, H0 f6 ?# Y5 I# \9 K& K Q
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
J$ e+ F! B" O% fshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
* U, l1 z/ U. O/ X$ \% ?• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
% I, v: Y) X/ t5 P0 u, Wvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).4 X" _, Y1 E* |2 K1 \# ?0 [; u
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
