JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Returning Officer reports to the President of

2000. The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'

year following their appointment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- D* F# a% n0 F" a# b

1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000

' f4 `# X- a4 {9 ?5 @' a2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.. k0 a4 ^4 S v/ M! p0 I2 f
3 o/ ^( P8 X# X; u* j3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.! D- j/ Q% X3 Y/ o0 V

4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing 8 R7 G0 G7 ~1 _, r/ @. f1 ~
adequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations
$ Q1 p% F6 C1 C8 n, pacross campus, and advertising the poll locations.

5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/

6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate

Bylaw 2000.

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a ! j; {" G- T) ]" S
minimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday, 6 y' { T5 R5 @' Z7 f
from the first working day after nominations close until the last day & I# c, x" ^9 t' }( }! W
of voting. These hours are to be posted in advance.

( Z! V) t S$ C4 H2 Z, n11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during # t6 ?+ x! ^4 h
the course of an election/referendum.# ?8 |1 ~# x1 J

12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting 9 I8 v( @$ ?" ?# f$ Q6 w

9 Q. @( V8 M' f ~7 N13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report ( F+ u4 y# l9 N* L
of activities and recommendations.

1 }, j$ C* o! Z/ q |" T14) To organize a minimum of one (1) forum to be held during the week

1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course . I, K4 h6 b( O( C. s0 r, F
for each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students'
3 O, O0 M4 [) W* }0 \2 q' G3 YUnion member.

2) Must have some experience in student elections.

3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or N- G6 R$ E9 f# E( i. ^' J
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position - z+ c3 U$ y2 a* @" k( x7 F

% z- l3 S% h( o( c2 m' Q4) Willingness and ability to work varying hours.
