- I  i% f% {+ X* ?The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
" u6 {" e7 e) s. ]policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

8 h$ {9 J) ~% ~, y1 |" _* c* XPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
% X3 U3 N0 o9 O' h) |# ^( ivision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
9 L: b  }1 R' X8 |arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
$ }! l% x$ j1 \+ Z4 gservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
5 }9 N0 m, k( u, h( p$ ithe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

) q1 n! d# s' V. X6 X8 T8 kIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
) Y1 Q0 q) S5 b# H0 V1 S0 a: cdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of

6 s, m8 Q% C8 N' e5 e3 V# pKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
" B: P# H! }/ o) H( A" ?9 Kpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
; F3 ~% Y# w- e& @( }  Z1 Korganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

( ?4 C* F7 r9 y, b8 kPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
