" j/ r1 l0 @4 f% c4 BDrainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
]8 e6 O$ R- X/ S• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.. x! g6 N, U9 P/ d) }' o1 T8 m
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.* Q: ?+ h$ `0 ^ p- y" Y" }" C$ }, J
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

1 N8 M6 d9 n T$ U6 g$ ^• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
, K; z; i; W( v• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
5 z; d; \# ?; z$ K {0 T• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
2 p8 [5 x* V& }# E6 N4 {• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation8 S- ]" i( b7 c/ b+ i
• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.

• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete." I; r# u8 V6 a; Z# _# V
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.( ^6 f' {; R1 j0 a- Y
• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.6 Q) n; A# B# O( ~/ G

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.) a& d6 N9 T. C& J6 Y) `
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.7 C% S6 x$ u$ |) S/ c" J$ _
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:
2 i& S- M4 V5 |; P9 n• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.; r! S- q l! C
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.9 t' A) \% x' A- v8 e* b
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.! W& i0 K' b3 P0 e# c: @; x
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.+ B4 r& J2 e9 J+ E
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
) m* }: I! c3 k: n4 h• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
" u/ r! s* J5 ~& @7 o+ O6 T) @• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
$ b; y! |* L/ R0 }/ c0 q" j$ SHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
