Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works; p2 Y+ ]' [; ?" q; y1 `
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets." [; p- z T( q+ k. A' p
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe. U. {' {5 @) [1 n, L- X- i5 S, D
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.8 R$ F/ t( k/ V$ m# r8 [( O
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works
) [/ X% N5 O7 Z" [9 t/ ^# P/ \+ {• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
' c# u) U1 I% F+ o• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
' w9 C ~& |6 z4 Y5 A• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps./ Z- n: v, ~$ j4 C+ j3 U) V' O
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.
: R6 A* j5 U# F, D1 ~. \1 s• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
; h4 S$ @* F6 I& V7 f. {# v+ B• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.

+ B ^: J! p4 d2 c" q: u• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.
! u* \; a9 n: s. d* E, a& b• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.# w) O+ F8 E: g( k5 R8 m( l
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.

Job Requirements:8 ^% W. m/ E: T9 F& I
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
, P) ^% `! x5 p• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
+ E5 T( l8 q! c. A• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.( J0 \7 N& K9 v. w( D; H2 }/ r) q
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
8 L6 p% k# Y4 ?. R+ C& i& e• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.( N- |' L9 E/ M2 R. T% B6 L) K$ {9 s
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.$ E, m( ]/ L7 h; r/ j6 O; `( i/ I
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
& G: T3 d3 b3 ^ h0 V- A% iHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
2 y c. v8 c, c( R6 {SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.; a6 M/ Z, y8 a( v
