Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
. a2 S9 C2 g o6 ]+ F8 b7 T# s# G• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
1 K& ^' {. q$ p) g2 H• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.7 m# D0 V; Y# n' H5 \& q
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.+ [; z3 d8 n8 b$ [! ]" g
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works# g1 R( |% ^' F
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. / \9 k% \, a; ?. D9 o( f) m
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
0 j* b" q0 z) E8 b" r& T3 J• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
0 A* j) L, s1 W) v K• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation" ?# J8 ~& a5 [1 m) l0 L
• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.) I) w% a' a$ Y: {1 d
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
; c* L! s0 D- d7 d6 \( t• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.
+ Y: D! ?% L* H4 I0 @0 h3 P: d• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.

• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
+ I) ^5 l0 }) B: i• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.
. R) G0 m1 R# W) {/ G• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.
! X7 k& W6 R f# u• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.- J4 Y0 f P2 g
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.5 Z9 O, S7 f7 \- L* J5 ]
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
6 Z. q7 g3 ~3 ?* g• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
1 p _( ~. v! x+ {• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.

• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.2 f) \2 `8 T! E ~1 U0 W
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
