The University of Alberta - Centre for International Business Studies is
currently recruiting for the position of Summer Program Assistant - Job

Salary to be paid will be $14.00 per hour (includes vacation pay, stat
pay, student premium, and second language augmentation)

% q' m$ L% ^2 Q! }+ aHours per week will be 20 - 30 - 20 during the first few weeks, then 30
. N3 J' H) e, p" v3 ]5 B$ _" |: }- 35 per week during the busy period. There may be an opportunity for
the student to stay on a casual basis (10 - 20 hours per week) once the
4 p0 X0 R+ \( ?% D( \& lschool year starts.

: S+ Q: h+ O9 ^* \; ZDuties include: preparing for programs by working with current staff at
CIBS to secure and schedule various program requirements (off-campus
venues, tour agents, goods and services, program materials and supplies,
& O" @9 D7 Z( Q( l0 Cetc.); reproducing and distributing documents and correspondence for
participants, assisting to orient participants to the University and
: ?! @% g' k) Y% y. m1 wtheir program on their arrival, and trouble-shooting for them during
3 h  i9 c) x6 ctheir program; booking program venues, setting up for sessions,
) t' O; S: K9 [9 o7 c' j7 |assisting visiting speakers or invited session presenters, striking
venue at end of session; traveling as guide with groups on in-city
outings or site visits, or, occasionally, on overnight out-of-city
7 W! s. Z6 U# aexcursions (does not involve driving or overnight week night
excursions); interpreting (non-technical exchanges) at meetings or
: H9 u: @+ O" w! s; h+ _functions; translating, revising or drafting program-related documents
: r5 \: g+ w) x9 o: Ssuch as schedules, itineraries, notices, correspondence, PowerPoint
presentations, program binders, evaluation forms, etc.

& e( n' ~4 i0 t8 x0 ]Qualifications include: senior undergrad student; coursework in
1 U0 r: d/ N0 K' V6 FCommerce, Education or Economics preferred, ability to communicate
0 U  l% p$ N: O5 bfluently (oral and written) in English and Mandarin Chinese,
demonstrates a high-level of self organization, initiative to undertake
& E9 o+ K, c7 K( C% _a variety of tasks; ability to coordinate individual efforts with those
of co-workers, excellent interpersonal organization and time-management
# s( k: m. K8 N9 X$ R+ Iskills; accuracy to detail; working knowledge of MS applications (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); administrative experience an asset,
experience coordinating group activities an asset.
