The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.
9195.  

Salary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

Duties include: working closely with graduate students and research
6 f- P: X+ f5 d7 }" Itechnicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
, k5 T; R$ f& Gfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
% u. `5 S6 k3 n7 ?/ B7 Cinclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
compounds by chromatography.
' r4 [7 e/ a) K6 d* P
Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
Chemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
1 ?. |/ P# W9 a' F0 e+ D7 {- M0 ~analytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
) y- s; w6 e2 P' Y. }' Y/ tof a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
4 G, w+ L& G3 f/ R: tand chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
