The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

5 `- R- Q8 U. u$ uSalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

Duties include: working closely with graduate students and research
technicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
% _3 {$ D6 I: F0 lfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
9 ]5 H) B- h5 _" F  o$ einclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
compounds by chromatography.

" n* ?, `- k' J9 SQualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
Chemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
analytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
% p8 g# G4 K, [1 ?separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
/ l4 X, M* u: n$ rof a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
! h, y2 Q$ {+ @, ?and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
