Position: Part-time Assistant

Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)

Job description
: T$ N9 ~( J! P. ^* c' aStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
! D) d4 E. M1 o1 J6 i% ?weekend hours.
" d" F, c3 e0 |7 VYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer {: P5 z+ v) Q1 F
lab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the. C6 p3 G. r- S# M$ [/ K3 c( s) }
centre.
5 L5 L% y7 F" TThese responsibilities include:
: z6 h* P6 R s! V5 U4 F' m-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.+ Q# r: y5 p/ S' ]: _& C5 j9 I) r$ o
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
% }! q! h' b6 m9 T! w ~! I-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
5 M: M1 ]- s z; V$ K5 X) y. \; Prenewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
! M" j1 W4 U% W6 x6 w+ E6 ], Xfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
8 ?' a/ N6 H" y0 O-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic 7 d* q9 B5 A: b: X' s

Statement of Qualifications
9 c6 P; z) c; \( l% w. I; pEducation: ' B T& C6 R0 {' d; x
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences, $ i. a. U& z3 n+ P( r
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
5 p8 K4 L9 B7 N: Vof education, training and /or experience.
6 |. d0 @! n* N! F$ F6 ~9 A4 Z" QKnowledge/Technical competencies:$ L# I6 f/ ~" }0 r
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.# {3 F: V* ?' s% H0 q( ^5 @
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word- o7 n% w8 K% z, u% C( [/ e, V; P
and Excel.
, p4 G) B8 P2 T1 ^-Experience using and updating an information database.

-Experience in using MS Access.

-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA

-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
